Child protection services in NSW during 1950s-80s?

Does anyone have any information on the child protection services in NSW, Australia during the 1950s-80s time period?
Eg what system did they have, was it effective? Did the Deparment of Community services (DOCs) exist back then?

Answer
I'm pretty sure DoCS didn't come into existence until the 1980s, as 'Family and Community Services'. Before then there was a child welfare department of some kind, but I'm not sure what its name was.

Regarding how 'effective' the services provided were, it would depend a lot on who was doing the telling.

Welfare services pre-1970s were mostly of the institutional model, with the 'poor' and 'needy' warehoused in huge institutions, often sleeping dormitary style, under the care of all powerful directors or appointed officials.

Recent years have seen a plethora of law suits related to abuse, neglect and mismanagment within such institutions, as the systems were tremendously open to corruption.

It seems very obvious nowadays that the worst types of people would seek to infiltrate such systems, and the fact is they very often did, with disastrous results.

Apart from institutional care, not much was available in the way of family support, certainly no pensions or benefits. If charity wasn't available for the poor, they did without, and if that meant their kids did without, well that was considered sad but inevitable.

Because the husband/father/male was considered to be the head of household, laws relating to women's and children's rights did not really exist. For example, parents were not permitted to kill their children, but child abuse was not a concept people understood at all. If a child was beaten, even very badly, it was thought the child was 'bad'.

Fathers particularly could be quite brutal without any fear, but the case was a little different for mothers.

Single women, especially if they were poor, were liable to have their children removed at any time for 'crimes' such as neglect, which could simply mean having unfinished washing up in the sink when 'the welfare' called around. The child would be shunted off to an institution and may not have ever been allowed to return home.

And for Aboriginal people, the case was even worse. Fair skinned Aboriginal children were regularly rounded up and removed from their parents and placed in institutional care or adopted out to white families. These children were often raised as servants in their 'adopted' homes, and if institutionalised were actually trained for this.

Many older people may remember those times as 'easier' or 'better' as regards child welfare services, but this was at least in part due to the way problems were kept out of sight and out of mind (institutionalising orphaned or abandoned children), simply not recognised (ignoring abuse) or were presented as solutions (such as stealing Aboriginal children).

The NSW State Library would have a lot of information and old records regarding this. I've put a couple of links for further reference.

Best wishes :-)

How did classic hollywood stars get such smooth, clear skin?

Future Cel

I am just curious as to how they got to have such smooth, clear skin. I know that it was sort of before all of the touch up technology we have today. Yet, the cameras and pictures of the time got some major close ups, and they never seem to have a single blemish or imperfection. I am just wondering what exactly it was they used or did skin care wise, or was it just makeup. I'm talking about people from the old hollywood 1940s-1950s ish, like Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall, Grace Kelly, etc. Thanks!

newborn / infants skin care?

Labels:

Blackbeaut

hi i just recently had my son 5 weeks ago
i qot a questuion about his skin
his skin is starting to peel plus he is getting wat looks like a rash around his neck and shoulders ??

Answer
peeling is really normal. My third child did it for weeks and weeks after he was born. Its because they are in fluid for 40 long weeks and the air dries their skin out. Moisturise him with olive oil or sorbolene twice a day to keep his skin supple. You can still bath him daily but don't use fragranced baby washes and shampoos. Plain warm water is fine and then rub him down afterward with moisturiser

It should only take a few more weeks to stop peeling so much

The rash could be from clothes irratating him? Its hard to know with rashes. See if the twice daily moisturising helps and if the rash is worse or no better in a few days take him to the doctors.
You should be seeing the doc at 6 weeks anyway so mention it when you go there

congrats and best of luck

Recommendations for basic skin care products?

Luck

I am in my early 20s, okay skin condition, usually no acnes. I want to get some basic skin care products-- cleasners, face creams, hydration products, mask, etc. Please give me some recommendations on brand(s) that are good and with reasonable prices. Also, where should I purchase these products from? Walmart? A beauty shop in the mall? A Department store?

Answer
I am in my late 20's and up until now i used neutrogena face wash. I recently switched to clinique because my skin started drying out because i switched jobs and work in a rather harsh environment where it is always below 40 degrees. I always used neutrogena and then I would follow up with the neutrogena face cream for combination skin. It has an spf in it which is something else to look for. The neutrogena you can buy anywhere and it's relatively cheap. The clinique you can buy in the mall and they will help you pick a product line for your skin. It's definitely more expensive but well worth it.

Homemade skin care treatments or none homemade?

Labels:

Lovely

I need a day time skin treatment and night time. I want to know what you guys think can suggest stuff to me. I have some tiny bit of acne around my cheeks and black heads on nose. Now I have a scar in the middle of my eyebrows help

Answer
I used home remedies with my acne. I started taking zinc for my acne. Here are some tips that might be helpful:
1) Tea Tree Oil
2) Lemon juice
3) Apple cider vinegar
4) Bamboo extract or Sarna lotion â good for rosacea, psoriasis, eczema
5) Bio Oil or BB cream for dark spots or scars
6) Toothpaste is very effective for acne leave on face for about 20 to 30 minutes then wash.

Applied lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to face or you can drink it through using it in water a few drops a day. Will help with both acne, and scars as well. Another way you can get rid of acne is by taking bamboo extract something I started when I had the problem really does work. Hope this works for you.

OR: Here are seven best methods to clear up blemishes.

Tea-Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for acne. An essential oil is diluted and applied topically to acne lesions. How is tea tree oil believed to work? Tea tree oil contains a constituent called terpinen-4-ol that's thought to be responsible for most of tea tree oil's anti-bacterial activity. Because tea tree oil can kill bacteria, applying topical tea tree oil to acne lesions is believed to kill Propionibacterium acnes, the skin-dwelling bacteria involved in acne.To treat mild, occasional breakouts.
How it works: Distilled from the leaves of an Australian shrub, tea-tree oil contains antibacterial and anti-microbial compounds called terpenoids that help kill the bacteria that, when trapped behind oil in a plugged pore, lead to acne breakouts. Try Burtâs Bees Herbal Blemish Stick ($8, burtsbees.com). A roller-ball tube makes for easy application.Studies testing tea-tree oil against the gold-standard acne treatment, benzoyl peroxide, have shown that while the latter works more quickly, tea-tree oil is equally effective over time. And it results in fewer annoying side effectsânamely, dryness and redness.

Sulfur
If you have sensitive skin.
How it works: A time-tested, gentle acne fighter, sulfur âacts like a sponge to draw oil out of blocked pores,â. This dries up pimples and keeps sebum production in check, helping to prevent future blemishes. Sulfur has a distinct smellâthink rotten eggs. Most preparations that use it contain a masking fragrance. However, to play it safe (and avoid scaring off coworkers), apply these products at night.

Salicylic Acid
To treat and soothe red, inflamed blemishes.Salicylic acid can have a calming, anti-inflammatory effect on pimples. âIt also breaks down the âcementâ between cells in clogged pores to help unplug them,â
Salicylic acid is less irritating than more potent treatments, so it may be better for those with dry skin. It also tends to work well on stubborn blackheads.

Retinoids
Nightly to prevent breakouts.
How they work: Retinoids, which include over-the-counter retinol and prescription-strength Retin-A, reduce acne by altering the oil chemistry on the skin. âThey help stop dense sebum from getting stuck within the pores,â says Gross. Without oil deposits, bacteria canât grow and cause blemishes. Since retinoids can make skin sensitive to the sun, doctors recommend using them at night (and being diligent about wearing sunscreen during the day). To avoid irritation, apply every other evening to start, gradually working up to nightly use. Bonus benefit: Retinoids have been shown to increase collagen production and plump fine lines, making them a good choice if youâre dealing with acne and wrinkles.

Blue-Light Therapy
If you want the latest preventive treatmentâand donât mind plunking down some cash for it.
How it works: Once or twice a week, you use a handheld device to aim a beam of blue light onto your skin. âIts wavelength hits and kills acne-causing bacteria,â so any brewing pimples never come to the surface. This method will not address existing blemishes. Doctors typically suggest combining blue-light therapy with other remedies, such as topical treatments. To make things easy, consider a blue-light device that comes in a kit. At-home devices are smart alternatives to multiple costly treatments at a doctorâs office.

Oral Antibiotics
If you experience painful bumps below the skin surface and your pimples leave lasting marks. âOral antibiotics act from the inside to kill the bacteria that cause acne,â says Keri. They also reduce the inflammation associated with pimples, so deep-seated blemishes hurt less and leave fewer scars.

Doctors usually prescribe them to get a severe condition under control and may then switch to topical treatments. Some antibiotics must be taken on an empty stomach, so read the label carefully.

teen girls skin care?

He loves m

okay, so my face is pretty clear, a few zits every once in a while, but i want my skin to be like.. amazing. haha (: i checked this website & it said to use (non-scented) face wash, moisturizer, a weekly mask & exfoliator. It recommends Biore Pore Minimizing Refining Exfoliator && Aveda's Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque has anybody used this? if you have, or if you recommend anything else, comment please! that'd be great! thanks (:

Answer
I use Body Shop face products =) I highly recommend you try them out ! EVERY product I've EVER bought there never fails to impress! I use the Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser =) I think cleansing is the MOST important part of your routine , because if you don't remove dirt, oil & grime, you'll breakout.
On to moisturizer: I use the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer for combo/oily skin (: I've used it daily for about a year now and I love it! Very very basic moisturizer, but something I can't live without ! Also, it's pretty inexpensive (:
Mask/exfoliator: I normally don't use masks or exfoiliators, I feel they aren't completely necessary for ME, but I do use them when my skin is feeling gross or I'm stressed. (You should use one of the two products when your stressed/tired to prevent it from showing thru your skin =) )
The best thing to do is visit a Body Shop location close to you and speak to one of the workers there, they'll help you find the perfect routine for your skin ! =)

**Just for reference, my skin is normal, but it gets a little oily around my nose and forehead (T-zone) , so to be on the safe side, I use products for combo/oily skin=)

Teens: SOme questions about skin and skin care..?

We Are Shi

I asked this in the skin and body section but it's dead there. lol.

1-) how many times should i cleanse my face a day?
2) how often should i exfoliate/moisturize?
3) is toning important?
4) Is it a good idea to change your facial cleanser ever month? I heard that your skin can become immune to it.
5) any other skin tips would be greatly appreciated!

ps- oh yea, how to deal with body acne? (i know it's gross, but yea -_- )

Answer
I'm not sure on what is recommended, but this is just what i do. Of course i am different to you, and everyone has different skin types, so what might work for me, might not for you.

1). Twice. Once in the morning and once at night.
2). Usually once or twice. I usually exfoliate and moisturize in the morning and night.
3). Ehh, i don't do it. I don't need it. It depends on your skin, though. More of a personal decision.
4). Again, this depends on the individual. My skin is great with the same facial cleanser i've used for over a year now, but in saying that i don't use it everyday, because my skin sometimes reacts to too much cleansing as opposed to too little. It may be a good idea to do so if you want, but some products may work for you, and some might not.
5). Facial cleansers aren't that important, unless you have skin problems. I only use mine when my skin is playing up. Just make sure to wash your face with water twice a day. Oh, and try not to touch your face! Drinking heaps of water can help with acne. Make sure to stay hydrated; it's very important for healthy skin.

BODY ACNE:
Exfoliate gently whilst in the shower. Do you do heaps of sports or something that causes you to sweat a lot? That can cause acne. Maybe use a powder puff? And wash your body when you shower. They make body acne washes.
If nothing else works, then you can go to the doctor and have an acne cream prescribed. They're expensive, but they're effective!

Good luck!
:)

any good skin care products that will leave skin glowing, and healty?

Answer
Beauticontrol skin care is great. They go by age, skin care for 20s, 30s, 40s and 50+ and have a sensitive and acne line, along with skin care for men.

I got a set about a month ago and I've seen a real change in the look of my skin, it actually looks great now. I'm sold on these products.

Best skin-care product?

pippi

I need a product that will keep away acne, and keep my skin looking good... Lots of people have recommended the Clinique 3-step system, but it's $50, and I'm not sure how long it lasts, so I don't know if it's worth it.

Answer
Hey Girl! :)
I have tried the Clinique 3- step skincare system, and for me personally, it didn't help my skin like I would have liked. I felt the toner and facial soap dried out my skin and made it feel tight. I did love the moisturizer though. :)

I have begun using the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser For Normal to Oily Skin. What I love about the cleanser, is that it is very gentle and does a good job at making you feel squeaky clean. It has helped keep my pimples at bay.

I use the cleanser every other day. In between those days, I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Oily or Acne Prone Skin. This stuff is AMAZINGGGG!!!! :)
It makes your skin feel fresh, baby soft, and squeaky clean. :) I would recommend using it every other day though, since it is an exfoliator. It might be harsh towards your skin if you were to use it everyday.

Lastly, I use Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer at bed time. This helps to moisturize my skin and helps treat any pimples I have at the same time. :) I really love this moisturizer. It gives my face a cooling sensation which I love.

I hope these recommendations for skincare helped you! This routine has really done wonders for my skin and I hope it helps you too.

Has anyone tried using oxygen botanicals skin care products?

Labels:

allanbabes

Is it effective? How can you compare it to the Obagi Skin care products?

Answer
Your skin absorbs everything you put on it. It goes straight to your blood stream.

Pro Active has harsh minerals for ingredient. I found they made me tired and eventually ate away at my skin. I found that proactive bleached my towels and clothes... I was super mad!!! I didn't even bother sending it back...

I stated using Mary Kay, then I ended up selling it... Facial skin needs a balance of being clean, refreshed, refined and moisturized...

Lack of moisture in your skin creates acne... I know it sounds odd... most people think "my face is oily, I need to wash it before I breakout"

Microdermabrasion is a good way to get ride of dead skin cells (which cause breakouts also) ...

Clinique has good facial cleaning products. Lancome sells AWESOME moisturizers... MAC's cleaning products are horrible for your skin ... they are more of "get the makeup off my face" type of stuff... so...

My acne was not horrible. I only had a few blemishes, but I still wanted a pure complexion.

I use Airbon now. It is an all natural formula. I love it! I have the perfect, un blemished skin now!

has anyone tried the OBAGI SKIN CARE SYSTEM,, Do you recommend it why or why not???

Gertrude

i was considering trying the OBagi skin care system but i am hestitant about it . so should i try it why or why not??

Answer
No.

There are many hair care system out there. None is better than the other. If I bottle all my hair tips & suggestion and charge people $45 each, would people buy it? Of course not! I'm a nobody. But you get them all FREE on YA HAIR.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.
It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

Good hair comes from good hair care, good genes, and good healthy foods from Mother Nature, not made by man like ObagI, John Frieda, or supplements from GNC.

Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - the website had moved, type it in.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tempered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.

Sources:
I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.
The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.

I use morning burst by clean and clear.
then if i need a exfoliant i just add sugar to my face wash.
Then i moisturize i just have a regular moisturizer i want to buy a diff one.

then at night i wash my face with olays sensitive foaming facial wash with aloe vera
Then i moisturize with the same moisturizer and i Oh and i only exfoliate my skin at night

Should i use a toner???
I am going to start wearing sun screen but will that make my oily skin worse?
Then also should i start wear a eye cream so it dosent dry out and get pre mature wrinkles?
What one do you recomened?
THANKS!!!!

Answer
You're 15 and you're doing too much for your skin. I'm 60 and have been doing the same routine as when I was 15.

The less products you use, the better for your skin. Use a bath wash like Suave Bath & Body Gel, use a washcloth. Treat your face like the rest of your body, take a shower everyday or wash your face everyday.

The secret is keeping your face clean and oil-free. I also don't use liquid on my face for anything, and very little moisturizer, not even a dime size. Since my face is not dry. Good skin also comes from your good genes. Increase your fresh fruits & vegetables 3-5 servings per day. And programmed your mind to do this day after day, for the rest of your life.

Acne medication could worsen what ever allergies you have, so instead of trying out one product after another, you're actually spreading it around. Example: ProActiv contains a known carcinogen, at a percentage known to promote skin cancer.

Smoking has been shown to make acne worse since it diminishes the delivery of oxygen to the skin and robs it of nutrients, thereby inhibiting cars from healing. Not enough reason to quit? Smoke depletes moisture, making skin lose its luster and look wrinkly.

The beauty industry is a billion dollar business, they know acne is everyone's problem, but instead of saying soap is drying for you, they have to invent an acne product that can worsen the skin as MANY TEENAGERS have experienced during hormonal change, but as you get older those are completely a waste of time & money!

The FDA has called for more safety studies on benzoyl peroxide because of concern about what happens when skin treated with it is exposed to the sun. Until research can establish or disprove a possible skin cancer link to the use of benzoyl peroxide products, the agency plans to require an extra warning and directions on the labeling: "When using this product, avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use sunscreen." and "If going outside, use a sunscreen. Allow [product name] to dry, then follow directions in the sunscreen labeling. If irritation or sensitivity develops, discontinue use of both products and consult a doctor."

Source(s)
I get one tiny zit a month or none. I have very clear, soft & silky complexion and I'm 60 years old, same as when I was in HS.

How to care for acne skin?

Labels:

::CuPiXX::

So I'm like really blur on how to get rid of the acne in my skin. I wan it to go FAST!!! We're having school holidays now for 2 months and I badly want the pimples to be gone by the time school reopens. It'll be my last year next year and I don't want to be remembered as pizza face!

Please, please give me tips or ways to care for acne skin stuff like how many times to cleanse my face, the usage of mask, scrubs and any other things that you can think of!!!

Answer
Hey there. I had acne horribly as a teen. Let me tell you. ^^ Now first you msut understand that acne starts as an internal problem - the pimples are just a symptom of a greater problem. You need to eat healthily - don't eat too few calories or nutrients or too many as both have hazardous effects on the skin thus resulting in inflamed unhappy skin.

Now my suggestion is to eat foods rich in antioxidants which are naturally good for you and your skin. Green tea, white tea, and water are excellent choices along with raw fruits and vegetables. Next you should be taking a vitamin supplement. There's this formula at Walgreens called "Nature's Cure" for men and women - it has these pills which are homeopathic herbal supplements (aka vitamin tablets.) The box is about 10$ or less and it comes with a cream. I'd chunck the cream.

Seriosuly, all those topical acne products do nothing for the skin other than dry it out and aggrevate it. Serisouly. A good skin regimen is a cleanser specific to your skin type, a toner and a moisturizer. Use in that order at a maximum of twice a day. Now my suggestions on products would be the Almay line as it's color coded by skin type and is a full system. Although it can be a tad over priced for drugstore brand stuff.

Also use a gentle chemical peel once a week ( a scrub is too rough for acne prone skin and can cause other problems and make acne worse) such as Olay Thermal Scrub which isn't a scrub at all. Heh.

It has a mild amount of glycolic acid (this stuff will lightly slough off dead skin - dead skin is major cause of acne as the oils produced by the skin mix with the dead skin creating this bacteria infested almost "cheese" known as sebum or smegma in the pore) so look for stuff with glycolic acid to help your skin renew it's self.

If you have body acne then might I suggest the same regimen but a little tougher products? Also make sure your towels are always clean when you bathe or shower and that your clothes including your bra are always fresh and clean each time you wear them. Also wash your bedding every two days and alternate between headphones or use earbuds. One more suggestion is to either chunk foundation entirely or use just a loose powder with a large fluffy brush. You should soak your makeup tools in an alchohol and water solution once a week to kill bacteria.

The things that I have listed are the most common reasons for acne to occur and I hope that you'll take these steps towards healthier skin and I promise if you follow what I've outlined here you're problem will be solved. =d

Answer
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those horrible acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

Purely technical traffic getting notes:

Learn SEO techniques for getting better search ranking and more visitors, use the Google Keyword Tool to identify relevant search phrases, incorporate them in select articles' meta title, header and body text to improve search ranking for that keyword.

Try to get one or two new links a day from other sites, hopefully some who are leaking their "link juice", blog comments have a tiny benefit, getting to know bigger bloggers and arranging to write guest posts with a backlink provides more powerful ranking benefits. Firefox browser is popular with SEO people, due to the number of plug ins available, like page rank displays and noFollow indicators, useful for identifying better sites to get links from.

Give your outgoing links the noFollow tag to prevent "link juice" from leaking from your site, this improves search engine ranking. (spot checked the Mens mag link, seemed to be do-follow)

I have HORRIBLE skin please answer:/?

Oh hello

Okay so I'm going to be 17 soon and just since the year that I turned 16 my skin has been HORRIBLE. People always think I'm so pretty but only because I wear alot of good qualty make up and usually only see people at night so there's always good lighting..But if they saw me during the day..with no make up on.. they wouldn't think I was so pretty then:| I have HUGE black heads..not just like 2 here and there..I mean all around my chin, all on my forehead, all on my cheeks, on my nose, and around my nose. I think it might be from using a gel cleanser but I'm not sure..there huge and gross especially in sun light, but there not really noticable after I put my make up on..Plus I have mild acne on my cheeks and forehead which is SO annoying..It's not bad with make up on but you know the texture thing its just gross and looks so bad with out makeup again..Plus I have sensitive skin or something I think because I have fair skin and it gets sooo red! like the creases around my nose is so red, and my cheeks get splotchy red. I have like 4 dark brown sun spots from this summer I never had before:| I have one on my temple that's really noticable, 2 little ones on my chin, and another one on my other temple that's a little lighter but I still notice it..I have 3 "indented" chicken pox scars from when I was like 5, two on my forhead and one by my hairline, like by my ear kinda. I just get up and look at myself everyday with no make up, and feel SO bad about myself. I always think why can't I just have normal skin like all the other girls my age..Plus I have a mole about the size of a pea on my forehead I think is totally gross..and pretty noticable veins and bags under my eyes. Most of the stuff I have is perminent I know which is why I feel so hopeless I think..I always think I wouldn't mind if I had *this if I just didn't have *this. like I wouldn't mind if I had pimples so much if I didn't have such reddness and blackheads or moles or whatever. I really want to get my mole removed, but my parents won't let me...Plus I have really dry skin. It gets like all flaky in the winter and I have to pick the flakes off, and then my skin gets EXTRA red for the next hour..I'm sick of feeling ugly:/ since my skin got bad and I have been wearing a little more make up to cover it people have been making comments about me "always having to look good" and they just act like I'm a super ficial shallow person or something which I'm really not... Just any expierence or any products you think could help would be much appreciated..

Obama ??????? what do you think?

Labels:

Revolution

Some would now conclude that based on Barack Obama's lack of leadership skills and inability to to show signs of competency with what it takes-- that he has become the worst President in history in the shortest amount of time. Even with just 15 months in office the country has gone from bad to worse and all he can ever do and say is blame it on the last administration --meaning " George W. Bush" is this the character and good sign when he continually goes against the will of the people ? Especially with only 30% of nation wanting his idea of health-care reform . His performance has not been good if he were in the real world --He would have been fired after the first year on the job.
I love the attitude "way to go little buddy, you're doing your best 0bama." Too bad Bush didn't get that kind of support.

Answer
The war on White folk has begun on a large scale with poverty & tyranny as the result. Barack Obama continues to loot America with the same tyranny we fled from to create America in the first place.

Barack Obamaâs comments about, âhis animosity towards his motherâs white race,â are overshadowed by his close association with anti-White racist Louis Farrakhan, with anti-White pastor Jeremiah Wright, with self-described communist and anti-White racist Van Jones and with anti-White racist Louis Gates. âNot to mention his anti-white Supreme Court nominee and the trillion-dollar social programs that benefit minorities disproportionately.

We had created the most prosperous, peaceful, philanthropic and liberty-spreading society the world has ever known yet Barack Obama continues to burden the majority with the very socialist-Marxist doctrine we should be at war against.

White folk in the US could have sided with Germany in WWII. âYet America decided not only to include minorities into our society, but to give them temporary special privilege; within twenty years of the conclusion of the war we did just that by passing the âcivil rightsâ & âvoting rightsâ acts. âBut equality was not the goal of minorities including Barack Obama, domination and oppression of White folks is. Every social program Barack Obama endorses over-represents minorities as beneficiaries while the taxes raised to pay for them are disproportionately and unfairly paid for by White folks. ââObamaâs equalityâ never makes it to the realm of taxation, because equality is not the goal. When can White folk get a fair shake?

The fact is the source of Americaâs greatness is the liberty-based free-market society created by those rich, White, men we call our Founding Fathers. âWhose nation became such a success that all others flooded her, diluted her and now mere shadows of her former beauty remain hidden away in pockets of faded glory; waiting for a time once again when common-sense triumphs over political-correctness.

American Indiansâ animosity toward White folk started upon our first boat landing; when the entire first colony was massacred by the Indians. (Who had not yet invented the wheel?) Subsequent history proves that American Indians are not ânativeâ either, as DNA testing proves conclusively that they descent from the Island of Formosa. (Taiwan) Countless archaeological sites of former American Indian sites now prove cannibalism and child-sacrifice was indeed widespread throughout the Americas. The oldest known bones ever found in North America, were that of Kennewick Man, found along the banks of the Columbia River, the skull was that of a Caucasian, not the Mongoloid skull of Indian descendants from Taiwan. In fact the FIVE oldest sets of bones found in North America were that of caucasions!

Black animosity toward White folk is evident in the disproportional, Black-on-White, violent crime rate. White animosity toward Blacks started in Africa upon recognition of their brutal violence, cannibalism and willingness to barter their family members and fellow tribesmen. When Whites ran the farms of Zimbabwe, that country was a food exporter. When the Black activist, Mugabe butchered and/or deported the 7000+ White farmers upon coming to power, the population began to starve and now begs for food aid. âFrom guess who? (White folk) This is not isolated, when Whites ran Haiti it too was a food exporter supplying 40% of the worldâs sugar. Upon educating and freeing the Black slaves, the former slaves killed every last White person on the island. The Black population in Haiti now begs for food aid. âFrom guess who?

Blacks in America are the wealthiest Africans in the history of the world, yet even as a Black man sits in the White House, atop the RNC & NASA, Blacks still complain about racism and demand âspecial privilege.â -Once the âcivil rightsâ game was played-out, the pendulum kept on swinging. Now in Mississippiâs Black dominated areas, the White vote has been found to be systematically suppressed by the Black majority. Blacks in America care more about slavery 200 years ago in America than the slavery today in Africa, because of their âanimosityâ toward Whites; not because of their concern for fellow Blacks.

Hispanic animosity toward White folk is evident with the large La Raza (The Race) membership and their willingness to march waiving the Mexican flag in the United States. The abhorrent violence in Mexico and the complete willingness of the population there to not only accept it, but to embrace it and to flaunt it offends the sensibilities of Americans and makes White folks in America question how they plan on creating a peaceful society here? -After all, the areas in the US with high Hispanic/Latino populations are infested with gang activity and diseases long cured in America like leprosy.

The backlash against minority oppression and special privilege is starting to really resonate with t

South Africa?

Q. With the recent xenophobic attacks, the disgustingthings that Robert Mugabe has done to his peple in Zimbabwe (which isn't actually in SA) and all the things that have been hurting South Africa's reputation - the head of police committing acts of crime, the ANC president being in court several times on charges of rape and the health minister stealing! I just want to know what you people think of South Africa? Because so many of my friends dont want to live here anymore and some are even leaving, and I would just love to get the thoughts of others from around the world on what they think about South Africa. Be honest, and please dont critise me about this question, I'm just a kid interested in what other people think of my Country!

Answer
My daughter has lived in Jo-burg for the last three years and has a degree from Wits. Before I visited a few months ago I couldn't put her in context. I knew that the crime rate, AIDS infections, and number of rapes were astronomical, but it didn't have much meaning for me. Now, since I have visited and have seen the "security" with which people try to protect themselves, the beauty of the land, the warmth of the people, I fear for her at the same time I admire her determination to make a career for herself. Her boyfriend told us plainly that one of the reasons he doesn't want to marry her or have a family is that then if anything really bad happens she can freely leave.

When we were there a family was shot and killed at home at 6ish in the evening--broad daylight as it was March--in a suburb a number of miles north from where we were, a place considered "safe." Nothing was taken.

I pray for leadership and the combined pressure from the outside world to bring some sanity and stability to the political situation and economy. I will probably go back and visit this coming summer, but this forum has made me more cautious than I was on the earlier visit. Things are always changing.

How to look good in a boring school uniform?(10points?

Labels:

nairah

Okay I need a very descriptive way to look good in my school uniform. I wear white polo shirts and khaki pants. I want to change my look because im girly but I want to be preppy and boho and girly at the same time. Also I need to know of clothes ,accessories, hair, makeup, and hygeine and skin care. Lastly, I might be carrying a purse to school, so what should I have in it? PLEASE LIST ALL THE THINGS I ASKED THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!........REMEMBER 10 POINTS!!!

Answer
I know how you feel, my school uniforms look like what criminals in prison wear -______
It also depends on how strict your school is. Are you allowed to wear scarves? Are you allowed to wear coloured undershirts (everyone at my school does this, they wear colourful shirts under their uniforms and pull it down so you can see it at the bottom) I think your best shot is going to be jewelery, because almost all schools allow jewelery. Buy some long necklaces and pendants that won't get hidden under your shirt, and layer them =] Also, have lots of bangles and bracelets (silver) looks really nice with uniforms. For your hair, since you say you're preppy and girly, try the hair style your hair hair is pulled into a high ponytail and a bump at the front. You can do it with your hair down too, like this: http://imagesme.net/beautyhairstyles/ashley-tisdale-volume-hairstyle-at-2008-creative-arts-emmy-awards1.jpg
These are really popular.
Also, I'd recommend you go on youtube and look up 'bubzbeauty" She has some great hairstyle tutorials that you can follow to do your hair for school.
Sorry i couldn't be of more help, but its kind of hard since I don't know your dress code.

Is it better to have never used skin care products in your life ?

Lilafay

Because my mother never used any products like scrubs, foaming wash, skin toners, moisturizing creams and her skin is beautiful

my skin is so so, not very uniform and and I'm wondering if should really bother with those products since I'm at a turing point in my life = 24, my skin is still youthful but will get older and older in the years to come, so what is the best thing to do for my skin ?

Answer
Hi Lilafay!

Some people have beautiful skin naturally. It's genetics. For those people their skin looks great throughout their life without needing to use any cosmetics or skin care at all. Then there's the rest of us...

At 24 the best thing for you to do is use an oil-free sunscreen on your face to help guard against sun damage to your skin â the #1 cause of wrinkles.

Next, a simple skin care routine is always the best option. Gentle cleansers and scrubs followed by a hydrating moisturizer. You might also use a product that contains a very light amount of retinol. At your age the introduction of a retinol product may help combat any skin problems and ward off wrinkles.

A consult with a good dermatologist with a skin care clinic is always a good option especially if you want to try the retinol.

Consider having a mini-peel/dermabrasion done either monthly or on a quarterly basis. It really keeps your skin looking healthy.

Hope this helps,
Shy

girls and boys, what is the best brand in men's skin care products?

ash 1988

i live in the UK, and the only place that i trust is Boots, but i cant seem to be able to pick the right product for my skin. my skin is a bit oily, but it can break out so fast. i wash my face with N07 Wake-up Face Wash, N07 scrub 2 times a week, moisturizing once a day after shaving, but still im not really happy with the result. are there any better brands that actually work well? like Lab Series?

Answer
In a guy, but I never use products specifically towards men. That market is too small, so I have very limited options. I've tried lab Series which was good but not amazing. Kiehls was okay too. Jack Black has amazing lip balm and hair conditioner. But for the most part, not a fan. Get the Blemish Complex Kit:
http://www.boots.com/en/Blemish-Complex-kit_850313/?cm_re=lifestyle-_-090909_071009-_-c9095_rot3&cm_sp=blemish_complex_kit-_-090909_071009-_-c9095_rot3

Its new to the UK but its one of the best here in the US. Its actually one of the bestsellers in Sephoras throughout our nation. Its actually the topselling product for acne-prone skin here. Its known as the acne complex kit here though. They probably changed the name just becuz its the UK. like how they changed Harry potter and the Philosopher's Stone to Harry potter and the Sorcerer's Stone here since we use different words.
Read reviews at sephora:
http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P6620&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4164

UK site for Blemish Complex:
https://www.blemishcomplex.co.uk/index.html

US Site for Dr. Murad:
http://murad.com/

I find it strange they dont call it Murad there. oh well....

But seriously, this is the best for acne-prone skin.

btw...stay away from scrubs as they may irritate the acne and cause more breakouts. The Murad regiemn will keep you clear. and the cleanser feels amazing. My brother, however, prefers the bare Escentuals kit because he likes how it feels. Murad is better though.

however, I cannot stress how important sunscreen is. no matter the season, you are getting sun damage everyday. Use sunscreen every 2-3 hours. I recommend La Roche Posay which isn't readily available here in the states. Lucky. You have it there. I have to have it shipped from France or Greece. Its the best you can get:

question about beauty school plz help me!!!!?

so i wanted to go to beauty school and do the esthetician program, but my family does not support me. My godfather kind of looks down on it, and my brother told me that, if i want to go to school that i should go for something that is worth it and is going to give you money. My aunt told me that, that is not a career and her friend said the same thing. Basically they tell me that I will never have money, I will be poor and that is a field for losers and not smart people. I need your help

How much does a esthetician make?
Do they offer health insurance at work?
Is what there telling me true?

Answer
If esthetics is your dream do it. You will be happy to know that yahoo rated esthetician as one of the top jobs of 2012. In addition, like most jobs in the beauty industry the amount of money you make is completely up to you. Unlike most jobs, in the beauty industry the harder you work the more you make. If you want to simply do facials part time you will be limited in how much you make but if you work full time or own your own spa your income is limitless. There are plenty of people in the beauty industry who make 6 or 7 figures a year. It can be done and if you want it and work hard you can do it too.

As for your family who say its a field for losers, not smart people and that you will never have any money, all I can say is they are wrong. I know many people who have degrees, are well educated and extremely successful who went into the beauty industry because it was their passion. Do what you love and the money and success will follow. Prove your doubters wrong by being a smart success! Best of luck, I have a feeling you are going to do great.

Beauty Sampler/Tester?

missjanell

does anybody know how to get samples or trials of beauty products? I want to be a tester of different products but I am unsure of how to get started

Answer
One way is to go directly to the website of the product you are interested in trying (Example: If you wanna try out the newest Cover Girl lipstick, go to Cover Girl's website). When companies introduce new products, especially companies in the Health and Beauty industry, they will usually offer free samples of the product via their website. They won't advertise about it, so you have to be proactive and look their website up yourself. But it might be worth it for free stuff! Hope this helps!

Q. what products do you suggest help get rid of blotchy skin?

what products do you suggest get rid of spots/discoloration?
or what at home methods get rid of blotchy and spots?
what at home methods get rid of blotchy and spots?

Answer
I highly recommend a skin care system called OBAGI (pernounced O-baa-gee) I got mine at my dermatologist / aesthetician's office, but you can just walk in to any skin place like, a laser skin care center, a place that does facials, etc. (just call first and make sure they carry it) You can even just walk into a dermatologist's office and by it, no need for an appointment.

They have an entire line, and it's expensive- $400.00 for everything; (ie: cleanser, toner, day cream, night cream, "clear", eye cream and exfoderm) but if you buy your Obagi products a la carte, the key product is called "clear". Then I recommend the night cream and the exfoderm. Obagi totally evens out the blochiness thru a mild "bleach" it makes you skin sooo nice, you'll feel the difference right away, and see a huge improvement in a week, and it'll improve even MORE with time. Well worth the money!

Help with complicated skin??

Itgel

I used to have oily skin. But then, now it's just kind of sensitive. But only extremely on my cheeks. It flushes and becomes red really quickly. I also have bumps. They're kind of like open pores that I don't know how to get rid of gently. My nose is also VERY oily but VERY sensitive. My forehead is doing okay, but the space in between my eyes is similar to my cheeks. And also, right under my lip, in the center of my chin. Can anyone recommend cleansers, moisturizers, a routine, remedies. Anything, really. Please and thank-you<33

Answer
I am a Registered Nurse and I specialize in skin care and teen acne.

Your skin should be treated similiarly to acne prone skin because you have bumps and sensitive skin. I have an excellent place for you to get products from ( that are made for sensitive skin but will balance out the PH of your skin) and I have a recommended skin care regimen for you.

Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

Your age plays a role! How old are you? Do you always have breakouts?

However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

If you are a teenager ( which I assume that you are) your hormones play a definite role in your breakouts.

If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE! Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you. I refer all my students and patients to this website:

www.aboutyourskincare.com

You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

Night time:

1. Exfoliate the skin
2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser
3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).
4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts
5. Moisturizer

Morning:

1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser
2. Moisturizing cream

The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com
As I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.

Good Luck to you,
Michelle

I guess you could say to a certain extent. Answer
Please don't think of hurting yourself. To help yourself, have hope and pray about your life. God can help you. Tell God about it. God is love. Know that God can help you live a better life. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end -- time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God's blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can't explain the world's natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner's prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus' name, amen." I'm Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church youth group or Bible study group to learn about God's will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.

Politics- Should Americans be entitled to pay lower health insurance premiums if they take care of themselves?

Chuck

Why should Healthy Americans pay high premiums due to the sloth and burger addictions of the obese, diabetic, heart attack prone, etc?
I think that is fair.
Some plans already give incentives, such as: if you take advantage of preventive care programs, enroll at the fitness center, get regular check-ups, lose weight if you are overweight, get lower cholesterol readings, you will get a reduction in premiums. I think all insurance plans should be required to offer this. That's my point. I was expecting more creative answers, but only a couple of you had anything remotely smart to say.
Eat up.

Answer
No, it would defeat the purpose of health care insurance and create adverse selection problems.

Also, " very significant reductions in US caloric intake will save 0.6% of health care costs by 2020." Obesity is bad but diseases like skin cancel that are expensive to treat happen to even healthy people.

If insurance companies are offering incentives, they looking to increase the number of healthy into their pool.

What's a good name for a beauty/health blog?

Labels:

Shelby Rae

I'm starting a beauty and just general health and feel good type blog. Makeup, nails, eating health, hair, reviews, maybe a workout here or there or something. What would be a good name? My name's Shelby. And the only idea I've had so far is Black Rim Beauty. Because I wear black wayfarer glasses and they're like my trademark. But IDK. I'd like it to be short. And something you can remember easily. Any ideas?

Health and Beauty?

Q. Ok i want to be healthy what can I do for that i already eat healthy but i want to loose weight . And for the beauty thing i dont think im pretty and no one says anything to me except sometimes the things i wear.Like when you get older in teen years you get acne and ive tried everything even proactive so what can i do about that too.

Answer
hi again,

Weight- Thats great to hear that you are eating healthy. The only way I want you to loes weight is to exersize. PLEASE dont go on a starvation diet or beceme beliemic ( throw up after meals on purpose ) im only 13 and i really dont like it when people do that. Honestly, if your over weight, exersize and try to stay away from those eating disorders because i heard that if you go on a starvation diet, you gain MORE weight! and my dads a doctor! so ive had many talks about that stuff because im a little overweight too(only like 10 or 20 LBS). but if your honestly not fat, dont even try to lose weight. Exersize, but not too much. Thats only if you are honestly not fat.

Beauty- Now, what i want you to do is honestly look in the mirror and say I'm beautiful because I'm me. Say it again and REALLY mean it. If your not feeling it, maybe try some makeup. But, as Rebecca Donaldson on Full House once said ( a show lol i love it ), the secret to make up is to make it look like your not wearing any at all. So, put some on but make sure you dont look like a raccoon lol.

Acne- ProActive is sapossed to work I guess. Try asking your doctor. Once again, my dads a doctor and he told he perscribed me a little bottle of wet pads for your face. It has this alchahol that gets rid of acne in it and you just dab it on the area where you want the acne gone and it works. You just have to put it on yourself in the morning and at night. Finish the little bottle and your ance problem is gone!

Good Luck!

anyone experience EXTREMELY dry skin while taking accutane?

Labels:

Snowboarde

ive been using accutane for 3 weeks..its working well but my lips get sooooooooo dry...and my body as well..its get insanely dry ALL OVER...and my scalp gets really really dry as well..
im all embarrassed and self conscious now...
even intensive moisturizers don't help much..
so now..im thinking is this all worth it to be acne free?...hmm

Answer
OK.

my 16 year old son has had severe acne for about 5 years. we have tried EVERYTHING. Dermatologist finally put him on accutaine. the first 4 weeks were dreadful... severely dry skin, flakey scalp. chapped lips. mood swings, etc.

Bottom line. Switched to ROCHE POSSE extremely dry skin care, CLINIDERM shampoo and conditioner, and using lip balm. His acne has disappeared altogether by week 12. Doc says 6 month treatment is necessary, and may need to be followed by another few months. I am telling you, though, that after only a few short weeks, the difference is incredible. So, YES, it is worth it. Take care of your dry skin by using drug store products mentioned above, and you will start to feel better!

Can I have laser skin therapy while taking accutane?

Damned D

I recently had mild acne breakouts and they left really deep scars behind. I went to a a dermatologist who put me on an 8 month course of Isotretinoin (one 20mg capsule every day). She also gave me a laser therapy (carbon dioxide laser) for the acne scars. A month into the laser therapy, and 25 days into the accutane course, I feel the scars have improved somewhat and my skin is flaking and falling off. But other scars still remain, and there are even some pits here and there.

Is it now wise to go for another session of the laser therapy while I am on accutane? Would it have any adverse effects? I read somewhere you should not have a laser therapy for up to 6 months after accutane. But what about during accutane? I am less than a month into it. I am not sure if the dermatologist cares about this (she' didn't say much during my first session about mixing the two), but it has worked. So what should I do? I would really appreciate your input. thank you so much. Thank you.

Answer
I think laser therapy while on Accutane actually increases your chances of scarring. So it's kinda pointless.

There might be other bad effects too. I heard Accutane makes your skin very sensitive to sunlight, but I'm not sure about lasers.

WASHINGTON: When it comes to something pleasant, it seems that the phrase "easy on the eyes" may hold more truth than earlier believed, for a study has found that objects or people appear more attractive when the mind can process their looks faster.
