How long does it take to become an Esthetician & the salary?

I live in NC & I am getting ready to go to school to become an esthetician. I love learning about the skin so this will be the perfect job for me! But I know it takes 1200 hours to get your license but how many months/year will it take probably? And what does the starting pay usually start out as? Or should I do cosmetology because they teach you about the skin also...right? which one has better paying salary. thanks

Hi. Congratulations on beginning your Esthetician career.The length of time it takes to complete beauty school depends on three factors: which beauty program you enroll in, your state's required hours for that program, and whether you enroll in cosmetology school on a part-time or full-time basis.
A full cosmetology curriculum is the most comprehensive and requires the most training hours; the national average is 1,400 to 1,600 hours. The average training hours required for the other beauty programs are as follow: 650 for nail technology, 500 for electrology, and 300 for esthetics and skin care.

I want to get my hair professionally done. Right now it is about three different colors. Here's the story: I dyed my hair black for a school dance, then I dyed it "blonde" (ended up brown). Then I told a lady at Sally's that I wanted my hair to be a light brown/ dark blonde and she told me to make my hair a dark blonde that I would need to bleach it. So, I tried bleaching it. And it's about three colors right now. A dark brown, my roots are my natural color (a grey/brown/black), and then I have some random blonde streaks. (I'm 16, and my parents are okay with me coloring my hair)
I want my hair to be a dirty blonde-ish color. And I want Mahogany, dark red, auburn low-lights.
I want to go to a salon around Ames, Iowa. I don't want to have to travel too far to get my hair done. I also don't have tons of money, so I would prefer if it would be under $100. Any good suggestions?
On a totally different hand, I am also looking for somewhere I can go to spray tan. I used to tan really well in the summer, but I don't get as tan anymore. I don't want it to look fake, I want it to look natural, and real. It would also only be a back-up plan for if I don't get as tan as I want to.

Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.
2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.
3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Just an fyi, about natural, Not organic. For a company to claim that their products are "natural" It just means they need to contain natural ingredients. There is NO company that is 100% all natural, otherwise for them to not lose thier potency, the products would need to be refrigerated. Mary Kay products contain natural ingredients ,minerals , and botanicles, but do not advertise as "natural" because they feel its important to focus on what the products DO not what they Contain. Mary kay is also peta aproved, (you can find the list on peta's website) as well as a green company. For instance they had a compact recycle program where they planted a tree for every compact recycled. They planted over 300k trees in the texas state forest. They also use "styrofoam peanuts" made out of potatos, they disapear in water.

Congratulations on such a brave initiative! However, it will take a lot of work and unfortunately you won't be able to do it on your own. You'll need help from various people, because it requires knowledge from various fields of expertise. Please allow me to describe the steps you need to take.
1) First of all, you need to decide the span and coverage of your cosmetic line. Will it be for hair only? Will it be for skin care only? Or will you design two different lines, one for hair and one for skin care?
2) You'll have to decide what problems you want your products to solve, such as dandruff, acne, dryness and so on and so forth.
3) Then you'll have to come up with the formula/s of the products. You'll need the help of a specialist with deep knowledge about cosmetic chemistry. You can build the formula/s inspiring yourself from existing beauty products, but remember! It has to be ORIGINAL!
4) After you've come up with the formula/s, you need an approval for it from the health/cosmetic authority in your country. They will give you a some sort of license which will allow you to use your products and charge money for it. This step can take some time, as health and cosmetic authorities don't usually rush approving anything.
5) After you get the approval, you can start the packaging design phase. Here you'll basically need two people: a marketing specialist who will analyze the market and tell you which will be the best packaging type for your products and a graphic designer, which will draw and render the final packaging according to the marketing specialist's insights.
6) Using the graphic designer's final sketches, you'll bring the formula/s and the packaging together in the production phase. First, an industrial factory will create the packaging which will be later on filled with the formula/s.

Just wondering if it's safe to use the Proactive Skin Care Routine after I have Laser Hair Removal treatments done to my face? I know that I shouldn't apply the Proactive products the day of the treatment, but what about the next day and so on? I don't want the product to strip my skin's barrier and increase the risk of irritation. anyone please let me know!

What type of schooling does it take to become a laser technician?
Q. I am an licensed skin care specialist but I find that just performing facials isn't perhaps as fulfilling as doing something more technical would be. I live in NJ if that matters. Simply placing someone at the head of our agency to protect us that doesn't have a stick of experience should give everyone the first clue. Picking people just because they are 'friends' or people that gave money to you, isn't what anyone except from Chicago would do. It is blatantly criminal like... especially when there are so many more qualified people to put in that position. Even a rookie cop with one year experience would have been better.
She said "the system worked" right after bomber failed to detonate his bomb. Of course later she backtracked from those words, like someone totally out of touch with reality.
Obama, like many far left liberals, still fail to see a threat. He says, ...a "suspect" who "allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device."
He avoids the word terrorist like the plague. Does that sound familiar? You ever hear a 3 year old pretending things doesn't exist so his life will be better? If you have ever had kid, you found them to bury their head in the sand like Obama has, but by the age of 21 matures enough to be aware of the real world.
I think too many think Obama is "street smart" simply because he is black. People don't have the slightest clue what it is like to grow up in Hawaii unless they have been there. He was very much protected and lived around a society that was far removed from what the USA is on the mainland. I think that is the very reason he came to the mainland, so he could get to his 'roots.' To experience the prejudice and bigotry. He hung out with those that were on the cutting edge of protest, but he himself never even slightly ventured to that arena. Why? Because he was learning... he was learning the 'black experience' since he didn't experience it himself. He is not at all street smart and very naive. History will show this and it's us who were the idiots to believe that somehow the color of your skin gives you wisdom in the face of danger.
But to answer your question... absolutely NO... Obama is so far removed from his position it isn't even funny. He doesn't have the slightest clue what it is to risk you life for others, much less your legacy.
This has been shown very clearly with his interaction of the troops when he talks to them one and one. They are a mystery to him and someone he is uneasy with. I've know two people that tell me they are more comfortable in a group than sitting one to one. Obama is one of those rare people. When you get to close he fears you will see the cracks and that is exactly how he behaves when talking one on one to troops in the field.
People need to use some common sense about him. He ran on the premise that he had a fantastic health care plan and now that he is president we find he didn't even have a plan. He had congress devise a plan. He had no plan of his own, but claimed he did. It's not a lie, it's true naivety thinking if you can get other to make a plan or have your own plan, it is the same. He would be the first to ask, "What's the difference?"

What to wear in summer if my legs have scras ?

i am a 30 year old women married with a two year old kid . I have ingrows on my legs . For 5 years now i have never woren a skirt in public 'cause of this.
My husband wants me to wear skirts and capris . How can i solve this problem . Even i want to look good like everyone else on the beach and in summer .

Just do it! I have keratosis pilaris (maybe that's what youhave?) it looks like a bunch of ingrown hairs sort of. Anyways, never in my life have i ever worn skirts, or capris, or short sleeves, because it's on the back of my arms as well.
But one day i just embraced it. It's not as bad as you think it looks. You just think it looks horrible because its on your body and you look at it everyday. I started wearing short sleeves and short dresses...ect and it turns out i have very nice shaped legs :) and i don't care if people notice my skin, because thats just what my skin looks like. Most people don't even notice.
And you'll feel so much better, i'd been wanting to wear those nice skirts and shorts for such a long time.

I have oily skin and bad acne...I have tried seriously everything from Pro-active to clean and clear to neutrogena to noxema to arbonne and everything in between. Salycilic acid and benzoyl peroxide do not work for me. I was looking into emu oil, but i dont know if it would make my skin even more oily or not, and if it would look good under foundation. I wear make-up as well, and since my face gets really oily quickly, i was looking for a good foundation that covers up blemishes and also does not look oily. I guess I am looking for suggestions about any face washes, creams, makeup or treatments that work well. I am a college student, and I do not have all that much money, so I usually do not get real expensive stuff. Thanks!

Just draw your character in the apps (usually done by pen toolâthat also applied to photoshop). If you are not sure with your drawing, look on your clipart collection or search in the net for free clipart (good if you can find clipart in windows metafile format or wmf). Dowload the clipart and customize it in your apps.

Yes you can, however, your best bet is to get rid of them both and find a night creme with tretinoin which is a safe and effective topical treatment for premature aging of the skin. I've been using it for years, and my skin looks great and I have no little wrinkles.

I was on Accutane for a few months last year to clear up stubborn acne and my skin has been perfect for a while now except it's really dry. The medicine dried it up so much. I live in Chicago now and I'm worried that my face is going to get even more dry when winter starts.
What do you use to wash your face with? I really wanted to use an organic face wash, but I don't know what to pick.

Hey yah :) I hope you're ready for a long answer. This has worked for me and it will work for you too. My friend is studying dermatology at university and I am obsessed with skin care, so I can help you out here. I know that the stuff I am writing, you might have heard before, but it's all good and worth it. And I've included little tips too for other things you may find useful ^_^ Please, read it all!!!
Water and fresh fruits and veggies! Make sure you drink plenty of water, as water is the key to healthy and glowing skin. Water helps with dry skin, as it keeps your skin clean and fresh. It also gives your skin energy and keeps it hydrated. For overall skin care, you must eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Veggies are the best for skin care and they do help out a lot. Cut down on chocolate, crisps and sweets. They contribute to dry skin a lot, especially crisps as they contain too much salt and fat. Also, chocolate adds to spots breaking out. Vegetables are important, as they contain lots of healthy nutrients and essential vitamins. These are the veggies are eat on a daily basis: in the morning, I eat a banana with my cereal - if you eat cereal, make sure it's full wheat and natural, no chocolate or lucky charms kind of stuff. For lunch, I eat a sandwhich and I add lots of onions. Onions are so healthy and they're amazing for your skin. If you eat onions, make sure you wash your hands after and eat something else after, because onions doesn't smell too good. Don't eat onions for supper or near the time you go to bed, because it will stop you from sleeping and gives you tummy aches. For dinner in my salad, I eat cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and carrots. Carrots are the best, because they contain some pigments that leave your skin healthier and much more glowly. The best vegetables for skin are: onions, carrots, brocolli - I eat them from time to time. However, the absolute best is avacado! If you like avacado, then that's excellent. This might be off topic, but just in-case. If you have any acne scars or blemiches this will work for you. I actually recomend this as it purifies your skin. I always do this, especially in the summer when the sun is out - but you know in England, there's hardly any sun. buy some lemons from the shop. Press them and get the fresh lemon juice - it doesn't matter if there are any bits or pips in them. Then just apply the lemon juice onto your face and scars. You can do this even if you don't have any scars, but just to help get rid of the acne. You apply it on your face and leave it for a few minutes. DON'T! add any water. Adding something to it, will kill off all the good bits, just leave it as it is. It will sting a bit, but it doesn't matter. If you want blonde highlights for your hair, sit in the sun for 30 minutes and apply the lemon juice all over your hair. Works like a treat and saves money to the hairdresser ;] so yeah, bascially apply it on your face

Before you go to bed, use a flannel and wash your hair with warm water - not too hot water and not too cold water. Wash your face properly and then dry your face properly with a towel. Now, you're going to apply coconut oil. You can buy coconut oil in any health food store, but make sure it's the PURE coconut oil and not some fake one. apply the coconut all over your face, if you put it under your eyes, which I recommend, only apply a tiny amount, because if you concealer on the next day, it will look dry and crack. Just apply it properly and leave it on for the night. When you get up in the morning, you can slapsh your face with warm water you wake you up a bit. Don't add coconut oil in the morning, because your face will look greasy. I had a red face too, it was mainly in my cheeks though. I didn't even care because my skin was clearing up so well. I drink about a gallon of water a day and did when I was on accutane. My cheeks were pretty pink for the rest of the treatment, but not bright red. Drinking a lot of water definitely balances out your skins hydration while on accutane.
