How do I become an actrESS?

Acting

Hi Everybody,
I'm a teenager. Lately, I realized acting is what I want to do. And when I act, I feel like its real. If I was an Evil Queen(want to be one) I don't feel like laughing or forgetting my lines. I feel like the role is real and it's me. I don't feel like it's fantasy. Anyways, before acting seemed so far away. It seemed like a needle in a haystack.(which it kinda is) But, now when I started looking into it, I realize it could be my REALITY. And so, before you say it, NO I do not want to be famous. As long as I'm doing what I love, I really don't care if I'm famous or not. And it bugs me when little girls are like, "I wanna be on Disney. How Can I become famous?" SO ANNOYING. And yes, I'm doing it for two particular reasons, which I'll say later.
So I need to know some things:
-1 I'm Muslim and I follow Islam. I'm okay with wearing tank-tops with something over it(it could be see-through), I don't care if my cleavage shows(but too much and I might care), I must have my legs covered, and I can wear short sleeves. (A NOTE: Please don't tell me I'm not a real Muslim, because I am. I'm making adjustments based on Hollywood's female standards. And please don't tell me I can't become an actress or Be "FAMOUS" because a. I can and b. I don't care if i'm "FAMOUS") I can wear skinny jeans, but not tights. And I can wear henna(which stains very well) but no tattoos. I can't get peircings anywhere but my nose, or ears. (IDK about Belly's but I'm not showing my stomach anyways :P) And, lastly, YES, I can show my hair.

Alright here we go:

I'm a teen and figured out by the time I become an actress, I'll be 29.

So...

1) Will theateres, agents, Casting Calls, Open Calls, Modeling Agencies, And/Or Singing Agencies judge me on the fact that I'm Muslim? Would you?

2) Will they judge my skin color?(would i be able to play somebody positively evil?)

3) Will they take in the fact I can only wear lond dresses, can't kiss men, and can only hug them?(men)

Next. Acting Questions.
1) So, I've been looking around. I've been to SAG-AFTRA, I've watched thatsophiakid, but I can't FIND AN AGENT. I looked on Google. Scams. I looked around. Scams. Scams! (AND NOT JRP, beause theyre a school). Where do I find one. Do I need to be in L.A., NY or someplace else?

2) I know I need acting classes. But where?!?!?! (And I won't be able to afford theatre school and/or university)

3) My parents are unsupportive, because they thinks Muslims can't be anything, and we have to like... not be who we want to be. So, would it be rude to use their college money then switch out to acting. I HATE them, I won't talk to them when I'm older, and I'm being mature too.

4) What is SAG-AFTRA. I've been to their website. It's like we can help you with agencies! Were not a scam! We help protect your health rights! Well where is everyhting? Do you need to be a memeber? How do you become one?

5) Why are youtube bloggers like thatsophiakid NEVER giving out their agent's names? Is it illegal?

6) How do people like Stana Katic, Jennifer Morrison, (WHOLE CAST OF OUAT AAAAIIIEEE!! #ONCEWONDERLAND PREIMIERS 2DAY!) How do they get to where they are when they were a kid? Were they rndmoly selected?

And 7) Do you get judged on height? (I'm short and I'm a teenager)

This is SERIOUS, so don't give me crappy asnwers. And I will AWARD a BEST ANSWER! Please give long detailed answers. Thx!

<3 NOT "FAMOUS"

P.S. No LIVE theater, I won't have time. Just T.V. and Movies! THX! :P

Answer
First you can't do exactly what you want to do unless your just that good at acting and most actors did live theater before becoming movie actors. I know you said no live theater but give it a shot before you say you don't like it. I do not think they will take into account your religion, that should not be a factor in deciding but some people are just like that. Same with your height, that should not effect your chances. The only thing they should judge you on is your acting ability or singing ability. As for your parents, I have no idea what you should do. Get involved in any local acting clubs or performances and see how you compare to everyone, they can give you tips and constructive criticism on what you can do to improve and maybe even help you on your situation.

The 2 best and most natural looking Drugstore Make-up Brands (And neither test on Animals!):

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty

Check out the videos on the website for suggestions.

Physicianâs Formula
http://www.physiciansformula.com/en-us/default.html

Physicianâs Formula Recommendations:

Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Face Powder: ~$13.00 individual, ~$20 in the 3 pack
(Voted âBest Face Powderâ in Star Magazine)

Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Blush: ~$12.00 individual, ~$20 in the 3 pack
(Won "Testersâ Favorite Product Award" in Fitness Magazine and Awarded âNatural Beauty Awardâ in Natural Health Magazine)

Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Matte Finishing Veil: ~$13.00 individual, ~$20 in 3 the pack

The 3 pack is not on the website, but I know for a fact it is sold at Target. It's probably sold at Walmart, and wherever they carry physician's formula products. The colors I saw that it came in were fair, light, and medium.

I have oily skin, so hereâs a tip if you do, too. Just carry around the Talc-Free Matte Finishing Veil in a purse or backpack (for school or work or shopping or whatever) and apply it when you feel oily. It's 100% translucent, so it just eats the oil without looking chalky or heavy.

To me, the mineral powder and blush looked hard, like I'd have to scrape it with my powder brush, but really it comes of quite easily. Take the brush it comes with and just dab it on, it'll come off without any rubbing at all.

Do Silica natural nutrient for hair, bones, & nails pills work?

Please give me some info on this product .

Answer
No, it's a trillion dollar business.
In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely.
Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this isn't in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law.

Don't believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." ~ Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive.
"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.

Supplements, medications, anti-acne products, hair oil, birth control pills, pollution in the water, to name just a few . . . ALL HAVE SIDE EFFECTS. Example: "I used minoxidil drug to restore the hair on my head; however, I ended up with unwanted body hair. I don't know if it is temporary or I have to seek medical treatment." YA poster 9-27-12. Any reactions to a drug - like Vitamin B complex which is a supplement - 'side effect' is a negative reaction to a drug - this is your body telling you that what you just gave it is toxic to it, and instead of helping you, it is actually hurting you.  It is your body's way of telling you to stop.  All drugs have side effects, and are toxic...even lethal...to some people at some dosage.  Another term for toxic is poisonous.  We owe it to ourselves to try less toxic treatments first.  Especially since too many drugs merely cover up symptoms rather than treat the underlying cause of the symptom in the first place.

Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN

NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Why do women put beauty before health?

Labels:

Castigator

I do not understand why women starve themselves for the man who they like. Why cant they see that it is what is on the inside that matters. I am a guy but if you want a woman just for her 36-24-36 figure then i believe the girl is better off without that guy. Health is way more important than beauty that is how i feel. Afterall you cant live a happy life without being healthy.

Answer
Good question. Women tend to be insecure and believe that her man will stick with her/will get a man if she looks good. Truth is, guys usually like girls for personality (the good ones, at least) and would appreciate a woman who takes care of herself. I admit, I've fallen to the "trying to look good" category because of self-esteem issues, but now I've realized that my health comes first and that the right guy will come along who I don't have to change a thing for.

What is beauty?

AmiJames

From a psychological or philosophical perspective, what is beauty? Do you believe in inner beauty, and if you do, what is it?

Answer
Beauty is a value associated with an innate and emotional perception of life's affirmative and meaningful aspects within objects in the perceived world âie. vitality, fertility, health, happiness, goodness, and love. Cognition of "beauty" involves the interpretation of objects as being in balance and harmony with nature, which in turn elicits a sense and experience of attraction, affection, and pleasure.

In its most profound sense, beauty is said to engender a salient experience of positive reflection with regard to the meaning of one's own being within natural life. An "object of beauty" may be anything that reveals or resonates with a personal meaning. Hence religious and moral teachings have often focused on the divinity and virtue of beauty, to assert natural beauty as an aspect of a spiritual beauty (ie. truth) and to define all self-centered or materialistic pretensions as based in ignorance. The ancient story of Narcissus for example, deals with the distinction between recognizing beauty and falling into vanity. The presence of the self in any human context means that beauty is naturally tied to its human meaning, wherein human beauty is often the dominant aspect of a greater natural beauty. Otherwise, objects can be defined as belonging to any of various types, such as "artificial," or "intellectual" beauty.

In the modern context, the usage of beauty as means to promote an ideology or dogma has been a focus of societal debates which center around issues of prejudice, ethics, and human rights. The usage of beauty for purposes of commercialism is a controversial aspect of the "culture wars," wherein feminism typically claims such usage promotes a dogmatic (ie. "The Beauty Myth") rather than a virtuous understanding of beauty. The literal opposite of beauty is ugliness âie. the perceived lack of beauty, which stimulates displeasure and engenders a deeper negative perception of the object.

Beauty and aesthetics

Understanding the nature and meaning of beauty is one of the key themes in the philosophical discipline known as aesthetics. The composer and critic Robert Schumann distinguished between two kinds of beauty, natural beauty and poetic beauty: the former being found in the contemplation of nature, the latter in man's conscious, creative intervention into nature. Schumann indicated that in music, or other art, both kinds of beauty appear, but the former is only sensual delight, while the latter begins where the former leaves off.

Poet Craig MacKenzie, first used his earlier works to portray beauty as an external feature of one's character. He used the example of one of his estranged family members, Shona MacKenzie, who considered herself to be beautiful, but MacKenzie considered her ugly both inside, and out, "like a wilted rose, so often in autumn, dies a death, ugly and rotten"[citation needed]

A common theory says that beauty is the appearance of things and people that are good. This has many supporting examples. Most people judge physically attractive human beings to be good, both physically and on deeper levels. The phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," however, suggests that beauty is wholly subjective.
Many see natural beauty folded within petals of a rose.
Many see natural beauty folded within petals of a rose.

"Beauty as goodness" has many significant counterexamples with no agreed solution. These include such things as a glacier, or a ruggedly dry desert mountain range. Most people find beauty in nature, despite it sometimes being "red in tooth and claw" (Tennyson). Another type of counterexample are comic or sarcastic works of art, which can be good, but are rarely beautiful.

It is well known that people's skills develop and change their sense of beauty. Carpenters may view an out-of-true building as ugly, and many master carpenters can see out-of-true angles as small as half a degree. Many musicians can likewise hear as dissonant a tone that's high or low by as little as two percent of the distance to the next note. Most people have similar aesthetics about the work or hobbies they've mastered.

Beauty as a quantifiable and measurable attribute places upon the trained and educated viewer a great deal of responsibility to tolerate defect. Thus, beauty is in the eye of the beholder only so far as the beholder tolerates defect. It is indeed subjective but in relation to one's intelligence and understanding.

Theories of beauty

The earliest theory of beauty can be found in the works of ancient Greek philosophers from the pre-Socratic period, such as Pythagoras. The extant writings attributed to Pythagoras reveal that the Pythagorean school, if not Pythagoras himself, saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. In particular, they noted that objects proportioned according to the golden ratio seemed more attractive. Some modern research seems to confirm this, in that people whose facial features are symmetric and proportioned according the golden ratio are consistently ranked as more attractive than those whose faces are not.

According to an ancient Indian definition, the beautiful is that which from moment to moment is always new. That is to say, it removes the mind from the world in which things grow old. But considering that the visual system allows us to see by extracting the stable, rather than changing, features of the environment on a momentary basis, this ancient definition seems hard to support.

Different cultures have deified beauty, typically in female forms. Here is a list of the goddesses of beauty in four different mythologies.

* Aphrodite - Greek mythology
* Freya - Norse Mythology
* Lakshmi - Hindu mythology
* Venus - Roman mythology

Beauty contests claim to be able to judge beauty. The millihelen is sometimes jokingly defined as the scientific unit of human beauty. This derives from the legend of Helen of Troy as presented in Christopher Marlowe's The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, in which her beauty was said to have launched a thousand ships. The millihelen is therefore the degree of beauty that can launch one ship.

The foundations laid by Greek and Roman artists set the standard for male beauty in western civilization. The ideal Roman is the more masculine form of pure male beauty. He is ideally defined (similarly to today's classic male beauty) as: larger (over 6 feet tall), far more muscular, long-legged, with a full head of thick hair, a high and wide forehead - a sign of intelligence â wide-set eyes, a strong browline, a strong perfect nose and profile, a smaller mouth, and a strong jaw line. This combination of factors would, as it does today, produce an impressive "grand" look of pure handsome masculinity.

This ideal was strived for in early Hollywood by such executives as Louis B. Mayer at MGM who selected his people for their raw ideal looks and talent. In the studio system of early Hollywood and even during the same time in fashion people were groomed to perfection and noted for their classic ideal good looks and personal style like Tyrone Power, Gary Cooper, and Cary Grant who were all classically handsome in a grand way. Today many actors do not fit that classic mold, yet are promoted for their looks such as Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

In the 1990 study by Langlois & Roggmann it was found that an extremely average face was considered the most attractive by the study group. A composite face (one of both sexes) was generated by combining all of the most common features from a group of photographs. The result was a face devoid of any irregularities, and especially asymetrical features. It was suggested that the features represented may indicate a lack of genetic variation, promoting an indication of a particularly desirable mate. Interestingly, in the same study, combining racial features from ethnic groups in creating a meta-average composite face produced much the same results.

There are three basic contributors to genetic beauty: averageness, symmetry, and sexual dimorphism. Averageness is sexually preferable because it potentially reflects stability during development, heterozygosity, and functional optimization. Bilateral symmetry is sexually preferable because it potentially reflects the ability to respond reliably to environmental pressures. Sexual dimorphism is sexually preferable because it indicates sexual maturity, reproductive potential, and health. Males tend to prefer a feminized face in females, while females' preference varies depending on the phase of their menstrual cycle.[1]

Mathematical beauty

Main article: Mathematical beauty

Even mathematical formulae can be considered beautiful. eiÏ + 1 = 0 is commonly considered one of the most beautiful theorems in mathematics (see Euler's identity). The poet Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote that "Euclid alone has looked on beauty bare" in an allusion to the austere beauty many people have found in the reasoning in the geometer Euclid's Elements.

Another connection between mathematics and beauty which played a prominent role in Pythagoras' philosophy was the way in which musical tones can be arranged in mathematical sequences, which repeat at regular intervals called octaves.

The so-called "Golden Mean", represented by the Greek letter Phi (Ï) and approximately equal to 1.618, has also been considered by many to be beautiful. It is also called the divine ratio and it is frequently found in nature. For example, in a nautilus shell, the ratio between each section is about 1.618. In Ancient Greece and Rome beauty was measured and based on similar principles. See Golden Ratio.

Effects of beauty in human society

A survey conducted by London Guildhall University of 11,000 people showed that (subjectively) good-looking people earn more. Less attractive people earned, on average, 13% less than more attractive people, while the penalty for overweight was around 5%.

The term "beautiful people" is used to refer to those who closely follow trends in fashion, physical appearance, food, dining, wine, automobiles, and real estate, often at a considerable financial cost. Such people often mirror in appearance and consumer choices the characteristics and purchases of wealthy actors and actresses, models, or other celebrities. The term "beautiful people" originally referred to the musicians, actors and celebrities of the Californian "Flower Power" generation of the 1960s. The Beatles reference the original "beautiful people" in their 1967 song "Baby You're a Rich Man" on the Magical Mystery Tour album. With the close of the 1960s, the concept of beautiful people gradually came to encompass fashionistas and the "hip" people of New York City, expanding to its modern definition. Beautiful people usually enjoy an image-based and/or financially-based prestige which enhances their aura of success, power, and beauty.

tips/tricks for healthy skin?

Labels:

Southern B

so i heard that cod liver oil helps get dewey, healthy skin. is there any other weird or unusual or maybe usual things that help ur skin to stay healthy and clean and dewey?? thanks guys

Answer
care tips for men/female that can serve as their guide:

1. In general, men have large oily pores. It is necessary for them to clean their face every day.

2. To un-clog pores and maintain healthy skin, deep cleansing should be made. As much as possible, skin care cleansing products used must be free from chemicals.

3. Drink plenty of water to keep the skin toned and to drain away toxins.

4. Scrub the skin to take away dead skin cells and make the surface of the face smooth.

5. Follow a healthy diet and lifestyle by avoiding cigarettes and alcohol. Likewise, fruits and vegetables can make your skin glow and healthy and a good way to maintain skin care.

6. Use only oil-free moisturizer and sun screen as skin care protection especially when exposed to the sun.

7. Since most men are exposed to the environment and its pollutants, large amounts of dust are often accumulated in the skin. In turn, the skin pores clog, loses its elasticity and will easily dry up. As skin care supplements, use toners and astringents to clean and condition the face.

8. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and apply sun screen if it cannot be avoided.

9. Use only non-alcohol based products as moisturizer after shaving. Preferably, a light skin care moisturizer is suggested with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera.

Help for an Elderly Man?

Q. I've been helping to take care of my neibor's husband. He's 88-years old and has beginers stage of Alheimers. We take care of him at the house cause he's not quite ready to go to a nursing home. Although he's still able to do things for himself and take care of his garden, theres' moments when he'll become confused or have dizzy spells and lose his balance. We need to find a way to keep him from banging himself up or tearing his skin. He's got two lumps on his forehead and about three skin tears on his arms. He's very stubborn and won't wear any kind of long-sleeve on his arms. Any advice?

Answer
Iâm one of the writers for Gilbert Guide (the foremost resource for everything senior care), and I write quite a bit about Alzheimerâs. This is a difficult situation, as you already know. I am guessing it might be challenging to get him to wear protective gear considering his aversion to long-sleeve shirts. I recommend the following:

â¢Deal with the long-sleeve shirt issue. Does he not like them because he gets hotâor does he just like to feel the air on his arms? Once you discover the key issue, you can go from there. If he feels too hot in long sleeve shirts, perhaps you can try buying him shirts with breathable fabrics in his favorite colors. This might entice him to wear them. If he just doesnât like having anything on his arms, maybe you can ease him into it by buying some three-quarter length shirts and working toward long sleeves. Granted, wearing long sleeves wonât prevent him from bruising if he falls, but it should help with the minor cuts.
â¢In regards to the lumps and bruises, short of wrapping him in bubble wrap, thereâs not much you can do to safeguard his body. I recommend making sure his homeâs a safe environment. I recently wrote a post on fall prevention that you might find helpful. You can view it at:
http://www.gilbertguide.com/blog/2006/11/27/fall-prevention-101/
â¢Get to the root of his dizziness. Schedule a medical exam with his doctor to assess his vision, heart rhythm and blood pressure. The doctor may conduct any of a series of tests and may recommend a series of exercises, medication or vestibular rehabilitation therapy (you can read about it here: http://www.utmedicalcenter.org/rehabilitation/rehabilitation_services/vestibular_rehabilitation_therapy/) Scientists are currently working on a medication to improve blood flow to the brain, so it would be wise to ask your doctor to keep you abreast of the latest pharmaceuticals.
â¢A few things that might help with dizziness: make sure heâs getting enough water so he doesnât get dehydrated, encourage exercise, possibly yoga or activities that help with balance, suggest eating small portions every two hours, promptly treat ear infections if they develop, make sure his place is well-ventilated, see that he gets enough sleep and if heâs a smoker, encourage him to quit.

Here are a couple Alzheimerâs Resources to help you answer other questions that arise:

Is there a skin care product for men with beards? Underneath his beard, bad skin. Thanks?

Labels:

Q.

Answer
His problem could be keeping the beard clean and groomed.
that affects the skin under it.

Give him beard cleaning products first to see if that "cleans" up the problem.

If that's not his problem, forgive me for mentioning it.
Some guys with bad acne scars grow beards just to cover the bad skin.
And some guys get ingrown hairs when shaving and so grow a beard to stop that...

How should I care for a bearded dragon?

Anonymous

Yesterday I rescued a bearded dragon from a home that had been vacated - his previous owners had left him to die. They left his dry food, tank with sand and rocks, three lamps, and a thermometer for his tank. It looks like the tip of his tail and some of his fingertips are nubs. He's shedding some skin. I cleaned his tank up and gave him fresh food and water, but what else does he need? I turned on one of his lamps which had a bright red hue and he seemed to get more active after that. How often should I leave his lamp on? Why does he have 3 different ones? What is the best thing to feed him? What should I look for to make sure he is healthy? I'd appreciate any help I can get as I have fallen in love with him, but know absolutely NOTHING about reptiles. Thanks.

I tried to look up some information online, but most websites seem to inform as though you already know how to take care of a bearded dragon - but I have never had a reptile of any kind, nor have I ever known anyone who has.

This FAQ has come about in response to the many emails we receive asking similar questions. If you have a question not listed or answered here, please email us. This F.A.Q. was last updated 05/26/07.

PLEASE NOTE -
All information in this FAQ/care sheet has come from our personal experience and/or research. We are working on adding links to useful information and places for further research - so please be patient. :) Many 'opinions', in many areas of care, vary from one person to another and can be controversial.... Please remember though, these are all opinions... and contained here are ours. Sources we found extremely useful when beginning our collection of Bearded dragons are - "The General Care and Maintenance of Bearded Dragons", written by Phillippe de Vosjoli and Robert Mailloux 1993.... In addition, many, many knowledgeable people willing to share their personal experiences.

General Description -
The Inland, or Central Bearded Dragon certainly inherited their name in all honesty... it was derived from the way they can enlarge or 'blow out' a flap of skin under their lower jaw when upset or disturbed. Aside from blowing their beard out, they may also darken the color there to almost black which creates a bearded display. The Bearded Dragon is native to many different habitats and regions of Australia.
They thrive in deserts, grasslands and woodlands... in both unpopulated and populated areas. It is said by many herpetologists who have come across Beardies in the wild, that one can walk right up to one and the little guy would not mind... and possibly even pick it up with little or no fuss being raised by the animal. Their temperament is extremely docile and trusting, therefore making it an excellent pet - even for children and beginners. The adults can reach up to approximately 2ft in length, with the average being 18 - 20 inches. Hatchlings are approximately 3 to 4 inches in length (head to tail) and should be 5-6 inches at the end of their first month. By the end of their second month, they should be at least 6-7 inches in length with considerable more body weight. We have found that with proper care and a little luck, dragons can reach 9 inches within 2 months, with the average being 8 inches. From 2 - 6 months, we have found the average growth rate to be approximately 1/2 inch a week, with some weeks being 1 inch or more to 1/4 inch or less.

General Care -
Bearded Dragons need little care, beyond daily maintenance, once they are established in/acclimated to their new environment. Care should certainly be taken to emulate their natural setting to reduce stress to the animal... As should a schedule be developed for lighting and feeding for the same purposes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Selection -
Selecting the animal to be your new pet is one of the most important steps toward success in maintaining bearded dragons. When purchasing a dragon online, it is basically done through an 'honor system'. The animal you receive should be robust appearing with ample fat stores at the base of its tail (generally, it is possible to determine the overall health of all lizards by examining the base of the tail for fat stores). Beware of protruding bones at the base of the tail. Take notice to the dragons eyes in particular - are they noticeably recessed? If so, it is possible that the dragon is becoming dehydrated. A healthy dragon should appear alert with both eyes wide open and attentive to its environment.

Housing -
A hatchling up to 12 inches (ideally), should be kept in a 15 gallon tank. This will allow the lizard enough room to run around and exercise... and yet not have to run too far to catch its dinner. As the Dragon grows, so should its enclosure. I would recommend no smaller than a 55 gallon tank for one or two adult Bearded Dragons (M/F). This will allow each Bearded Dragon 'living-room', minimizing squabbles - yet encouraging their natural displays and interactions. I use a 4 ft (w) X 2 ft (d) X 2 ft (h) cage (eight sq.ft) for housing up to three adult dragons. Any additional dragons should be allowed approximately four sq.ft. of floor space per dragon.
**NOTE - All cage accessories that are collected from outdoors must be parasite free before introducing them to your collection. You can either soak them in 10% bleach / 90% water solution... or bake them in your oven for approximately 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Both of these methods will assure the death of parasites/bugs and their eggs.

Substrates -
Most shops also provide a selection of reptile bedding and sand. (We suggest following the 'prey size rule' when selecting a substrate.)
Reptile Bark/Bedding -
This is definitely not a good idea. Crickets can hide under the bark, resulting in the dragon not getting its full meal and the possibility of the crickets coming out at night and bothering the dragon. Another major reason is that the dragon could accidentally ingest a piece of bark, which would result in terminal ingestion.
Children's Play Sand -
We have found this to be an economically affordable and low maintenance substrate for dragons. Simply 'scoop' the poop and replace the sand, as it is visually needed. For hatchlings, be sure to run the sand through a window screen to eliminate any tiny pebbles that they may decide to taste. (If you do not sift and your dragon ingests a pebble, it will most likely result in terminal ingestion) There are many types of sand available in different grain sizes. We use fine grain childrenâs sterilized play sand in our cages. Be sure that there are no silica warnings on the bag before purchasing it.
Reptile Carpet -
This works well and looks nice. It is fairly easy to clean also - even easier if you have more than 1 piece cut to fit in the cage. The only downfall is that dragons normally pass a bowel movement every day - requiring the cleaning and replacement of the carpet and decorations on a daily basis.
Newspaper/Paper -
This is a good idea if you are concerned about ease of cleaning and cost. It is not the 'prettiest' set-up for your tank, but it works well. *The ink in the newspaper will NOT harm your dragon - its non-toxic. It may give them dirty-looking feet, but that is about all. Be aware that crickets will hide under the newspaper.

Cage Accessories -
Rocks -
We choose to use River Rocks for basking areas in our enclosures. They are smooth for easy cleaning and when placed under a basking light, get very warm and provide heat to the beardies underbelly, which aids in digestion. This way they receive heat from the top - via a basking light, and from the bottom - via the heated rock.
Branches -
These make beautiful additions to a cages set-up. A few things to keep in mind when choosing to add branches to the environment is that the branch will not conduct/absorb heat as well as a rock. You will need to monitor the temperature to be sure it is adequate for your dragon to digest its food. Branches also make a great hiding place for small crickets. Crickets will crawl into any split or peeling bark that they can find... so be sure to shake out the branch in the evening to avoid excess crickets running around when the lights go out.
Hide Boxes -
This is a no-no for small dragons. The dragon may decide to hide instead of bask and therefore will not eat well and grow properly. This is also the favorite place for crickets to hide. Its cool and dark, which makes for a perfect gathering place... so, unless you like to chase crickets around before the lights go out, hide boxes are something to avoid.

Lighting and Heating -
Proper lighting is also very important to the well-being of a Bearded Dragon. A good split of day/night is 14/10. This can easily be regulated by a timer, which can be found at almost any hardware store. ((not only is it better for the Dragon... its much easier on the caregiver. :)) A basking spot is also a must for a Beardie. The Dragons body temperatures are important for digestion and fighting off illness.
A low watt bulb, placed in a reflector dome at one end of the cage, will concentrate the bulbs heat to that one side of the cage. The top basking area on one side of the cage (closest to the light) should peek between 100 - 105 degrees for adults and 100 - 110 for babies - with the ambient cage temperature on the other side of the cage being significantly cooler - approximately 80-85 degrees. This basking temperature may seem high, but these temperatures are common of the ground surface when air temperatures are over 85 degrees. Remember though, this is a peek temperature and not a constant temperature. The trick is to slowly bring the temperature of the basking area up, allow it to level off for a short period of time and then drop slowly once again. (Yes, this can be tricky... but that is where cage accessories come in handy.)
The nighttime temperature of your cage can drop into the 60's without worry. If your house gets cooler than that, you may need to invest in a red bulb for nighttime temperature maintenance. This will emit the heat needed to keep the temperature up, but not the light that will interrupt the dragons sleep pattern. WARNING - Do not use an electrical reptile heat rock or heating pad as a heat source for your Bearded Dragons. These products have the potential to fatally burn the dragon's belly, as many lizards do not feel a 'localized' temperature... but an overall body temperature. (See Thermal Burns below)
The need for a full spectrum florescent reptile light is among those topics being disputed between Hobbyists at the moment. Dragons DO need a source of UVB light to naturally produce vitamin D3, (which helps to absorb calcium) and without a steady supply of it, are more sub

What was considered "beauty" to Ancient Greeks?

Labels:

Hola

I'm doing a research project but I'm a little confused as to where to start. What do you think is considered beauty to the Ancient Greeks?

Answer
Look at their art - their idea of beauty will be there.
In the times before long life, good food and effective medicine, beauty was inseparable from health and fertility, for both sexes. The same can be said for the idealisation of form in Ancient Egyptian and Roman Art. Art is the key and that is where you will find your answer.

Health, beauty, fitness, life advice from (mothers)?

So I can also pass down to my children as well? :)

Thanks in advance

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN U STARTED USING WRINKLE CREAM?

Labels:

Angelica

Hey guys this is more for the older people, but it applies to young people too if you started using wrinkle cream at a young age!

I am just wondering;

1. what age were you when you started using a cream that targets wrinkles/ or wrinkle prevention?

2. what cream was it? (if you dont remember thats fine, but what do you use now?)

3. what age did you start to worry about wrinkes?

4. what age should a woman begin to use wrinkle creams?

5. what kind of wrinkles do you have now at this stage in your life? (where on your face/ body)

5. how old are you? (if you dont want to answer thats fine!)

thank you!!

Answer
1. I started a skin care program at 45 years old.
2. Biotherm. Cleanser/mask, softening lotion and remineral moisurizer.I also use their foundation if I am going to wear make up.
3. Not so far. I like the ones I have.
4.If you start taking care of your skin seriously around 30 you will probably never really need them until well into your 50's to 60's.
5. Laugh lines and slight crows feet around my eyes.
6. 52 in September.

Just as a foot-note for you, use sunscreen, avoid wearing full make-up every day. I do smoke cigarettes which can cause wrinkles but the worst is alcohol! I actually look (and feel) younger or at least as young now as I did in my 30's, I am happy to say.The men that are attracted to me range from ages 35-45. (My boyfriend is 53 however and the first older man I've ever dated) The friends I have had since I was a kid always tell me I haven't changed since my 30's. Most of them still drink and smoke and have aged considerably. I'm not blowing my own horn, but I have been very fotunate with the aging process.

Do any of your men use skin care products and if so, do you like the result?

Q. My husband has a hygiene and skin regimen and now has more radiant skin that I do...he looks great at 45 years old.

Its a shame that most men think that taking care of skin is too girly and they do nothing. Then when they are 50 their skin looks like hell or like Chicken Feet. LOL
He uses my eye cream, his own face cream, he uses my body lotion and he uses Nivea lip balm.

After 6 months, the results are amazing. He looks so refreshed.

Answer
I fail too see why looking after yourself...your health especially, is considered feminine?

I use skin care products, because it gives me a confidence boost.
I'm able too smile, that's all that matters to me.

As long as i'm happy, I couldn't care what others think.

But yes, I'm a guy who uses skin-care products.

Where can you buy an organic gift basket for skin care in irvine(for a mom birthday)?

Labels:

crystal_gi

Answer
That's sweet! Your mom is lucky to have you!
There are lots of health food shops in Irvine and many of them will have cosmetic sections. I'd look in the phone book and call a few and ask them.
Or try a vitamin shop or a body products shop. If all that fails you can always make your own gift basket. A functional item such as a small handbag or purse, or a lovely bowl can also make a nice basket for the items.

What are typically good items to donate for a silent auction/benefit dinner?

living gre

I need to know what do people typically donate to a silent auction for a benefit for a child that's really sick?

Answer
A gift basket-such as a "skin care basket" or "popcorn basket." Local sporting, theater or ballet tickets. Gift certificates to local spas, restaurants or movie theaters.

"Benny? Benny?! Where are you? Oh my goodness! Where's Benny? Has anyone seen Benny? BEN! Where are you?!"
I was around four years old. I lived with my grandmother and my late grandfather. My cousins Benny and Joey were coming to my house, so I was restlessly waiting. They were the people with whom I spent most of my life. We were the best of friends, and they were coming at 8:00 AM so that we could go swimming in the backyard. When they finally arrived, I was ecstatic. I anxiously waited for Benny and Joey to get their floaters on. Benny was always very jumpy, shaking his hands, talking to himself, and I loved him. He wasn't like anybody I had ever met, but my innocence didn't make anything of it. Benny had gone running around the house and so I started playing with Joey.
We were busy having a screaming contest, and all of a sudden we heard the most satisfying words any four-year old could hear, "Go get Benny and you can go into the pool," my aunt said with a smile. We ran to go get Benny with more excitement than you could imagine. He wasn't in the living room, the bedroom, or the kitchen. We grew more anxious. We just wanted to jump into the pool. We called for him a few times, but there was no answer. We came across the bathroom door, and it was closed with a light on. We called in there, but no answer came back. We opened the door but he wasn't there. We informed our aunt that we couldn't find him, and that we just wanted to go swimming. At the sound of hearing that her son was missing, she frantically screamed his name. She ran left and right, but Joey and I thought that she was screaming so frantically just because she knew we wanted to get into the pool. She literally started to run, so fast, that we realized that she probably didn't care that much about us going into the pool anymore. Then it dawned on us that there was something wrong. We searched for Benny everywhere. I went to my bedroom and searched everywhere for him. He wasn't under the bed or in my closet. He was nowhere to be found.
At the tender age of 4, I didn't really think that much could happen to him, but all the tension in the house made me realize something grave may have taken place. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. I breathed a sigh of relief, Benny had come home. I ran to the door demanding an explanation, except when I got to the door, it wasn't Benny. Actually, it was who I least expected it to be, a police officer. He asked me if any adults were home, so I told him that they were very busy looking for- my grandma rushed to the door and lead him to the backyard. I followed by in curiosity. On the sidewalk next to the pool, I witnessed something I didn't understand at the time. My cousin Benny was sleeping, face up, next to the pool, his mother yelling to him, and patting his face. She was pushing his chest up and down. My cousin Joey and I were standing next to each other. I remember looking at his face, plainly staring at his brother's ordeal. Moments later, EMT rushed in and starting pumping his chest. I noticed Benny's skin was as blue as the water. My grandmother then abruptly took Joey and me into the house and upstairs, where I was filled with questions. I saw an ambulance pull out of the driveway with Benny in it. My Grandmother would attempt to decipher the hysteria to us in her broken accent. I was frightened. What was going to be a day in the pool, turned out to be a day of confusion and heartache. I didn't know what to think, but over and over again, I heard the sentence "He will be alright." A couple days later, Benny came home with a Cookie Monster sticker. I was overjoyed and relieved when I saw him. It was then when I realized that autism was a real problem that Benny had to cope with.
Since then, I have been very sympathetic to the mentally challenged. A few years ago, my best friend introduced me to a camp that his brother attended. His brother, too, had autism. The name of this camp was Camp R.O.B.I.N. My friend Sami and I have spent many great days volunteering at this camp. I love watching these children discover things through experiments that they do at camp. The camp also takes the kids to places like PETCO. They all get so excited when they see even the simplest of things. One boy saw a clown fish, and he screamed "Nemo!" All the kids watch the fish in amazement. I think more people should be as simple as these children because they notice things that most people take for granted, and they are so much happier for it.
I'll never forget the looks on their faces during the talent show. They practiced dance routines throughout the entire summer, and on the last day of camp, they headed to the high school and performed their dances. At the end, all the parents clapped for them, and

Answer
the end was cut off . . . but so far it's a really engaging essay, but the part where you say that more people should be that simple could probably be worded better, but other than that it's pretty good. Hope I was helpful, good luck.

Is natural beauty better better than the 2012 copy cat swagg?

Labels:

Sara

Answer
Copy cat isn't the type of feline we focus on in this category. You will get a much better response if you reask the question in health and beauty.

Also I don't think the opposite of natural beauty is 'copy cat', it is more likely to be 'cosmetic / surgically enhanced beauty'. Unless you are asking what is better individualism or copy cat when it comes to fashion and beauty.

Has anybody used clearasil for acne?

Labels:

Kuthi Kami

ok its the ultra vanishing acne treatment with 3% sulfur and 2% res something lol. Does that work for preventing/treating zits everday?

the other 1 is with tint but it contains too much sulfr.. so maybe its not good for everyday use. and the tint would piss me off because it would be like makeup... and i dont wnna remove it biecause it might be dry.

Answer
Kuthi, if you worry that the 8% sulfur and 2% resorcinol is too much for you, you should definitely start with the 3% sulfur & 2% resorcinol. Remember, the potential of irritation increases with increase in concentration. You have to experiment to see how your skin sensitivity is like with different sulfur concentrations. If the 3% sulfur product works well and you get clear from it - STICK WITH IT! There is no need to use up the tube and then buy the 8% sulfur one.

The 8% tinted is NOT like makeup. Just like a lot of tinted moisturizer and what not, it provide very very sheer coverage. If you use very little and spread it well, you probably won't cover anything else. You shouldn't feel like there is a layer of product on your face either.

The sulfur and resorcinol are drying ingredients as they are very effective against acne breakouts.

Sulfur can prevent acne, sure. Sulfur can induce peeling/shedding of the skin, which "may" promote unclogging of the pores, giving a better flow of oil. Therefore, there is less chance of a pimple. In addition to that resorcinol can dissolve the clog over time. Now, I say salicylic acid does a better job at exfoliating within the pore lining to provide a better flow of oil. But hey, it shouldn't hurt to use both salicylic acid and sulfur and resorcinol together for optimal result. Then again, consider your skin type. If you know you have sensitive skin, be extra careful.

Bottom line: start with 3%. If it works and make you clear, stay with it. And remember, you must follow a well-designed routine with well-formulated products in order to maintain clear skin. If you use one or two good acne products yet every other products are problematic, you may get on-and-off breakouts. Just really read the ingredient lists.

Update: when you finally settle with a regimen with the right products that get you clear, please stick with it. Do not go all skin care junkie and buy pricey products from estee lauder or avon or whatever just to try them. The first and only thing you need to worry about is to get your skin clear. That has to be your primary focus. There is no product from avon that can remove a scar or close a pore. Avon's line of acne products are problematic. If you want serums, get one from Olay Regenerist line, fragrance free. Get your skin clear first!

Any more questions ask!

Best wishes

Do I have acne prone skin?

beautilati

I usually get blemishes in my T-Zone. I get horrible black heads on my chin that I can't get rid of for nothing. Sometimes I wake up with ugly pimples in the corners of my mouth. I'm not sure if this helps, lol.
I've tried proactiv, didn't work.

My favorite makeup artist on youtube, Michelle Phan has a skin care line, IQQU. I'm gonna try her popular acne serum.

Answer
Lots of people have oily T-zones & oil contributes 2 clogged pores, which leads 2 pimples. Every1s skin is different, so I cant tell you what products will work 4 you. But you should try washing your face w/ a wash that has a low dosage of either Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (I use Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Face Wash 1.5% Salicylic Acid). I personally had a bad reaction to Benzyol Peroxide (Proactiv), its a little strong for my sensitive skin. I also recommend Cetaphil Antibacterial soap bar. I have had great results from it. It kills the bacteria in your skin that leads to breakouts.

Wash your face in the morning when you wake up & at night before you go to sleep.

Follow up with a moisturizer, I recommend Olay Complete Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin.

Invest in oil blotting papers that you can take around with you to remove oil throughout the day.

If you wear makeup look for formulas that are specifically for oily skin.

Oil Mattifiers work great too I used Mary Kay's & loved it!

Dont be a product junkie & use a whole bunch of different face washes, stick to one for at least a month to see if it works for your skin.

ALSO when you rinse your face w/ water, then lather the face wash in, leave it on for 1-2 minutes then rinse to let the wash do its job! Ive seen big results from doing this in my skin care routine!

I hope this helps!

Beauty, health, studying, and confindence tips?

So my sister is always calling me ugly and a skank but i take a bath every day and wash my hair. But she's like you never brush it but i do i just hate straightning it, it looks so unatural for me cause i have wavy hair. Then for the new year im giving up pop so i can lose a bit of weight but i want some other good tips on losing weight. Then my studying skills in school aren't very good my mom's always like why can't you be more like your sister getting straight A's, when i get an A in just Band usually then i get B and C's and i just took my midterm in science and this grade is only on its own and i got an F and i don't know how to break the news to my mom i mean i couldn't tell wether it was an F or D but i know my mom's goina be pissed and i just wanna run away from home with my one friend who says she doesn't fit in with her family anymore, also im not a very confindent person im always tripping over stuff getting caught on the edges of tables, dropping stuff and i feel very embaressed then last night my sister was making fun of how bad i am at ping pong and it made me really mad.

It would be nice if you gave me a video on some of these tips or a website.
If a video i have already seen michelle phan and bubzbeauty.

Thank you.
I do have glasses

Answer
There aren't any videos I can think of, so I'll try to give an inspiration with words :)

Beauty: No idea what you look like, so I have no pointers. Hearing you're a high-school student, I guess you might have a little acne, ones you don't really care about since you haven't mentioned. Anyways, a clear face can change your whole outer appearance, and just for the better! Go to your regular doctor to ask for a prescription for something. I got one which worked like magic. I look back at my face before, even though my pimples were not very noticeable, and I see my face change dramatically. It just looks so much better when there are no scars or bumps. Then your skin can have its natural glow, and what's better than to have a natural shine?
Also, to keep your skin beautiful, you must get rid of hairs. One word: waxing. Don't shave. It grows back worse. If you're not a hairy person, then your skin can stay smooth for a month! And if it grows back, just wax again. Beauty hurts. But after a few years, you will never have to wax again; your skin will have no unwanted hairs anymore because the roots will become too weak! :D
As for your real hair, I suggest you keep it natural. Waves are awesome. Everyone flattens their hair to death these days, and straight hair gets boring. Waves are beautiful; I bet your hair is gorgeous! Make sure to go to a barber and ask what haircuts would suit both your hair and your head-shape to get the best look you can get :)
And finally, weight loss. Cutting down on soda is one thing. Now, think about cutting down on unhealthy snacks. I'm not saying you have to live in carrots. Just not eating chips and such on a regular basis (you probably don't, but I'm just giving an example). Whatever you do, don't cut down on necessary meals! When your body goes in starvation mode, it actually stores all your calories. So you hurt yourself with hunger, and your body goes against your goals! :P

Health: You sound like you have really good hygiene. For losing weight, I suggest eating healthy, not overeating or under-eating, and specific exercises that will tone whatever body part you want to tone.

Studying: Not to brag, but I'm one of those people like your sister; school comes naturally to me. So I don't have tips for someone who doesn't think the same way as me. I suggest you actually get professional help, from your teachers or a reliable source online, that will help you figure techniques that work best for you. When in school, don't stress too much about it. Your future is not determined by one and only test, even though it seems like it. Remember that school is a place to gain knowledge so you'll have a choice of careers to choose from, be exposed to new things, and learn more skills (like problem solving). It is not a place to torture students. And yes, it does feel that way. I'm not a teacher's pet, I've had trouble with them as well. They're not doing their jobs right, these days! But they can't bring you down! Remember that the information you learn now may save you sometime in the real world. So give some time for it, be determined. But not overwhelmed. Because if I can do it, so can you. And your sister is obviously not Albert Einstein; yet she succeeds. But how fulfilling would it be when you ace everything while she crumbles down? ;)

Confidence: After you're healthy, beautiful, and intelligence, then what is missing? A good personality. And I'm pretty sure you're a good person whose being brought down by society. Your sister is a complete b*tch! She's supposed to be there for you! Instead, she tried to tear down your self-esteem. But that's probably because you are somehow higher than her. She's jealous of you. And I'm not just saying that; when siblings are evil to each other, it's from jealousy. You have every right to be confident, and you have some reasons to be as well :)

Hope I helped :)

Whats your skin care routine?

Labels:

imadogwoof

What products do you use, brand and product names. Also what is your skin type?

Answer
Hello, I would recommend for clear skin various things. First before you focus on facial products make sure you have a healthy skin friendly diet. It is proven that your skin depends %80 on your diet. Things like dairy, grains, and processed sugars are not only bad for your overall health but also skin. Hormones in dairy increase sebum production and cause acne in most people. Also grains (if you do not want to avoid completely try eating gluten free) have inflammatory acids that cause inflammation aka acne and the same for all types of sugar: cane, natural, organic, all!!! I have clear skin 99% of the time mainly just by controlling the amount of grains I eat: I only eat tortillas once in a way lol, rice (try eating whole grain or lotus forbidden rice) beans, and occasionally other stuff. I avoid dairy altogether because I don't like it. If you must eat dairy try eating grass fed goat cheese (less hormones and many don't breakout from it) and maybe organic milk. It is best to try and see what foods aggravate your skin since is different. If you do not want to change your diet then try drinking 30oz of green juice (juice of all types of healthy green vegetables a day) and maybe some multivitamins. Avoid soy products too. If you fix your diet and avoid all those foods for at least a month your skin will clear up about %90 . As a teenager I understand it is hard but if you do it for one month you will be amazed at the results. After the month you can eat those with moderation. If you do this then your skin will be so clear you will not need many face products. Some great face products would be to go with natural products, otherwise the chemicals in other things are making your skin more sensitive. However some drug store products that work great are NOXZEMA ( I used the plus moisturizers because the other overly dried my skin), Clean and clear 3:1 exfoliating cream, Clean and clear moisturizing astringent ( works really well after washing face) and zapzyt. Some natural products I recommend are : Neem leaf extarct from the neem man as a toner (helps clear skin) witch haze as toner, african black soap (amazing for acen), shea terra black soap wash (amazing), pure organic lavendar facial cleanser, and apotheke ubtan face scrub ( using it 2-3 times a week clears up acne and leaves skin so SMOOTH)! Aslo make sure to always cleanse your face at least at NIGHT!! And keep ot simple in the morning. An amaing blemih fighting DIY is mix of milk and honey. Tyr to add a pinch of powdered goats milk (meyenberg brand) with some manuka honey and water to make a paste, gently massaging your gace, and rinsing. I am not sure if I leave anything out but I would really recommend noxzema for acne and apotheke ubtan face scrub ( it is necessary to exfoliate to eliminate and prevent blackheads and acne). Also make sure to NEVER pop because they live scars and infect other pores. Got to epicbeautygude.com for more information! :) I have normal moisturized clear skin..

Well good luck finding a wash that suits you! Remember no matter what your beautiful! I hope i helped.

Skin.......?

Lalala

I need a kind of cleaner that doesn't dry out my skin because my skin is dry and all of the ones that I try just make it worse. Does anyone know what kind of skin cleaner to use? Or any kind of product that will make so that my skin isn't as dry?

I pick best answer. lol
Could you also tell me where I could get some of this stuff. lol

Answer
Okay, well, first of all, you need to realize that most cleansers on the market today are extremely drying. Many people donât understand that a cleanser that dries out your skin will NOT help with their acne, so you're ahead of the game by understanding that your previous cleansers have not been right for you!

There are several that are recommended by skin care specialists. Some non-drying, non-irritating cleansers are: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, Dove Sensitive Essentials Fragrance Free Foaming Cleanser, Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser ($7.99 for 8 ounces), or Paulaâs Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser (which you can get a $0.50 sample of at www.paulaschoice.com).

To be fair, though, itâs possible your cleanser isnât the problem. Besides a gentle cleanser like the ones listed above, you also want to make SURE you are wearing sunscreen, because sun damage dries out skin. You need a good moisturizer as well. You want one with antioxidants, but it should not come in a clear jar or bottle, as light compromises these ingredients.

If your skin is still dry, you can also add a small amount of olive oil to your skin, as it contains anti-oxidants.

Incidentally, none of the advice here is âstuff my grandma told meâ â this information comes from skin care research journals and books.

(Do NOT use bar soaps, Noxema, or anything else like that... these are going to be drying and irritating.)

Who is selling Bio-oil and also is it available in the Philippines?

Amu

I'm having problems in MY legs about a hundreds of scars!!!!!!!
Then I see that Bio Oil is effective
But I'm here in the Philippines wondering if someone is selling one and also wondering if the shipping is free......
But if it's available here in the Philippines then I guess I'll buy ^^

Answer
The Bio-Oil website lists Malaysia and Japan, available thru health & beauty stores like Watsons. I have not encountered this product in the Phils but if you are looking for similar products for scars, try these:

- Dermatix Ultragel (available in Mercury Drug)
- Palmers Scar Serum (available in Rustans)
- Neutrogena Body Oil (available in PCX, supermarkets, beauty section of Dept Stores)

You can also take Vitamin E like Myra E to aid in healing. Basically, if you moisturize your skin regularly, scar healing speeds up.

I need some advice from women who use Avon Anew skin care products!?

Labels:

Martie

I will be 28 soon and want to start using Avon Anew skin care. I have heard good things about it, but I have a bit of breakouts still and basically have combination skin. There are so many Anew products to choose from. Can anyone recommend which Anew products to use and what they use and love? Thanks!

Answer
I am 22 and I use Avon Anew Retroactive+ 2in1 cleanser/toner... great for oily or acne-prone skin, and made for women in their 20's. All of the moisturizers in the Anew line are too heavy for me, and leave my face shiny, so I use Hydraradiance Day Lotion (Avon Solutions line) and Ageless Results Renewing eye cream. My 27 year old husband uses my Anew wash, as well, and loves it.

Why do women judge men on things they cannot change?

Nathan

I have a friend who is truly a great person, he has done military service in the navy, has a great education, is incredibly intelligent, makes a TON of money at 28 years old, loves his family, donates money to charity, and is in near perfect shape and has a very handsome face with perfect skin. I as a male have no reason to believe that any women should turn their back on him, for he is the personification of goodness in every sense.

Countless times women have judged him because of his hair color, or eye color, skin color, and height, among other things. One woman doesn't like him because of his brown eyes, another because of his light brown hair. Another hates that he isn't tanned skinned, or because his hands are too small. I even saw one woman reject him because of his height (6'0), and she herself was only about 5'3! It is sickening they way some women judge men nowadays.

It makes me think of how judgmental and disillusioned the world is today. Do you not care about a man with values? Do you not want a man willing to sacrifice everything he has for the greater good of others? Are women incapable of looking beyond a man's physicality, and gazing into the purity of one's soul? We have become brainwashed by mass media, advertisements, and corporations, they have plagued our conscience, and I fear that true goodness on this planet will be swept away by the tides of lust and greed.

I fear the future, and feel as though I stand alone amidst the chaos of segregation and judgementalism.

When will humanity finally accept unity as a way of life?

Answer
yeah this is why i think american women are not worth the time and effort. Cause they want men to change themselves even when there is nothing wrong. As if they are so perfect they are even worthy of changing for.

i've gone out with women who have asked me to change a routine only to later ask why i changed. that kind of stuff is why i tend not to take them seriously anymore. Cause they switch modes every couple days. don't matter what the reason is because they all have excuses. i'm just tired of hearing it.

Women in other countries don't act like that. they just accept you for who you are. that's why relationships with them are so dramafree compared to this mess. these women here create a lot of problems like you're not tall enough. not cool enough. their friends don't like you. they heard rumors.

it's pretty stupid actually. They are very against being happy. but as i said date European women they are better anyway. problem solved.

Easiest turtle or tortoise to care for?

Labels:

bombscan

i am looking for a turtle or tortoise that is relatively cheap and easier to care for? does anyone have any ideas?

Answer
tortoise!!!!!

YOU decide!

****Austinsturtle.page.com' is a fantastic site for all turtles care and info.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/29035692@N03/sets/72157612827773738/

Aquatic Turtles are a life long commitment. And you will spend hundreds of $$$$ if they last 37 yrs like mine!

Remember 10 gallons for every inch of turtle..
***You need a heater...set at 80 degrees. If water is cold they will stop eating!
Sliders, westerns, cooters , midland, painted, map, yellow bellied all are basically the same and require the same basic care.
They NEED calcium and protein they get it from the fish meat and the fish bones. Drop 20 or 30 or so feeder guppies or small goldfish (or minnows they maybe a bit fast for babies) at first just drop in the tank and watch them disappear in a few days! The more they eat the healthier the turtle.
. Swollen cloudy eyes comes from lack of Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes.

Plus I also feed dried cubed blood worms or tubiflex worms or pellets at least 5 times a week for my five..
They can have garden worms which I collect after a good rain and dump them un the pond, also meal worms, snails, crickets, flies, crayfish small frogs, slugs, tadpoles ,dragon flies and anything that moves, but only as a treat.
They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 4 to 5 times a week.
They love grapes and strawberries and squash , apples.
These turtles in captivity do not hibernate their eating may slow down some but they will not hibernate. They cannot hear or see well so they feel you coming by the vibrations each foot step take. And in the winter their appetites slow down some.
TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calcium that will promote better shell growth, it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it thatâs fine!!

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA/UVB for up to 8 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow.
So they need a turtle basking dock.
Gravel larger than they can swallow, allot larger.
Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they poop allot.
You need a GREAT filter system depending on the tank in a 60 gallon my girls were in one, I used two double sided marine or penguin filtersâ¦It really helped keep it cleaner!

They will bite very very hard. Under 4" they carry a disease called 'salmonella'. So you must wash after every handling ANY size turtle.. ***And my pictures don't lie. All ages and all sizes get along as long as their is allot for swim room and plenty to eat! They can become cannibalistic if you have 2 or more turtles and a small environment. They will kill off the smallest and then fight for the tank for themselves.

Size for basic aquatic turtle is approx Body length: 5-8" is average for males, up to 12 inches max for females, but average is about 9 to 10â in captivity. Life span: 15-25+ years plus. Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You canât start sexing till about 3â across. Real mating happens in May through June and hatchlings within 90 days. Eggs are laid in soil. If laid in water they will die. Do not cut the males nails!!
They sleep at the bottom of rivers, streams. lakes or ponds or your tank to avoid predators like coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks, possums, raccoons and even some wide mouth bass and us humans.

***Some sicknesses they get easily Like shell its actual holes rotting through the shell.
Respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, vomiting, blowing bubbles from their nose. .
Fungus white cotton patches on their skin, treat by adding a 1/4 of a cup of aquarium salt per 5 gallons to irritate and hopefully kill fungus. The addition of sulfa drugs such as those sold at pet stores under the name "Dr. Turtle".

'Austinsturtle.page.com' is a fantastic site for all turtles care and info.
I have been blessed with 2 slider girls that will be 37 yrs old next month! Plus 3 males ages 9, 5, 3 yrs old.

Still getting pimples after lots of care?

Gravy Baby

I'm a 15 year old boy boy, and I just recently started like caring for my skin (because I'm going out more often). I recently started doing things which should prevent pimples like:
⢠Started washing my face in the shower
⢠Moisturizing
⢠Changing my pillow cases more often
⢠Washing my face with warm water and cleaning it twice a day
⢠Having showers every morning and sometimes at night
⢠Using baking soda + water OR cleanser to exfoliate skin

YET I'm getting the most pimples I've ever had in my life! They keep coming back when one goes down and it's ONLY around the nose, chin, mouth area. I've always got about 2-3 big pimples (The ones that develop white heads)

I'm probably the most hygienic teenage boy in my school lol. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I really want to clear my face. Any home made remedies recommended to clean my face/exfoliate BECAUSE I CAN'T BUY skin care products.
I'm only limited to my mums moisturizer and her 'dirt removing' cleanser.

Answer
Make sure your not spreading whatever is coming out of the pimples on your face, that could be a reason they keep showing up. It's good that you have taken the steps to keeping your face clean, now what you need to do is start eating and drinking healthy stuff for your skin. Here are some examples:

Foods:
-Low Fat Yogurt
-Berries (Strawberry, Blackberries, Blueberries etc.)
-Mangoes
-Walnuts and Almonds
-Avocados
Not saying this is the only thing you should eat, but try to include these items in your diet.

Liquids/Drinks:
-Water
-Green Tea
There is much more but these are essential.

Water is a must. Atleast 5-8 cups a day will keep your skin fresh and rejuvenated!

The problem may also be that you are maturing and going through puberty. Everyone gets pimples, it's a part of life. Soon enough with all of the effort you are putting in, your pimples should soon go away. Keep doing everything you are doing know along with some of the tips I gave you. Good luck and hoped this helped!

spa skin care items?

Labels:

sleepy_grr

I'm having a spa party, and I'd like to purchase some inexpensive skin care items for hands, feet and face. I asked this question before, but I wasn't clear about what I wanted... people mainly gave me tips about makeup. I'm mainly looking for skin care products. Here are the ideas I have so far:

* St. Ives apricot scrub
* St. Ives clay mask
* Cetaphyl cleanser
* epsom salts for the feet
* lavender oil for the foot bath

These are all pretty reasonably priced. Can anyone think of other inexpensive spa items? Again, just skin care related.
Thank you for all the advice so far. Side note: this is being held in another city, so it's not practical for me to make my own products. If it was at my house, I probably would do that, but in this case I really need to purchase ready-made items instead, preferably inexpensive drug store items.
I also don't want to hire a company to host the spa party. The idea here is to keep it simple and save MONEY. Thanks.

Answer
Find a Arbonne consultant in your area at www.arbonne.com
They will host a spa party for you, supply the products and usually have some freebies to give away. Yes, there will be a sales pitch but most are short (less than 10 minutes). The consultant will tailor the party to what you want, and its a great way to try botanically based products. Also it will not cost you a dime in products!

skin care- help!?

prava

I read an article re: sun damage and it mentioned some of the products you can use. I want to know if I can get all of them in one product? Or do I have to buy several diff. ones. For example- they listed recommendations for whats the best sunscreen, antioxidants, glycolic acid, retinoids, night repair...so I dont know if I have to buy a product that has all of them, or 2 products or buy products with each thing listed individually. Im mainly looking for a great moisturizer/sunscreen that will make my skin look great- not age me.

Answer
Over the counter products don't really have enough concentrated levels of these helpful ingredients to make a huge difference. If you really want products that will make a difference, consult with your dermatologist. Most of this stuff is marketing hype in which they are trying to get you to spend loads of money on loads of products that really don't make a difference. Retin A from your dermatologist will make an impact, as it is the prescription strength that can really penetrate deep and make changes. Your dermatologist can recommend the best products to ensure you don't over buy or buy non-reputable brands that say they are dermatolgist tested & approved that in reality, no one has ever heard of. In general, some of the better "over the counter" skin care products are available through medical Estheticians, like Dermalogica, etc. If a spa and medical esthetician doesn't use it, it's probably another fly by nite phony brand. Drug store & department store brands just won't cut it. They cannot put enough of a concentrated amount in the brand that would make a difference, because it's really Rx strength that works. Best of luck finding what is best on your skin type.
