What kind of license needed to do laser skin care?

Jimmy

I want to know what kind of license needed to do laser skin care( eye brow tatoo removal, age spot etc.) With an estheician license, will it be enough? Thanks

Answer
It depends where you live and what the local or state requirements are. In some states, you only need to work under a doctor's supervision and don't need an esthetic license, which I find a bit scary. I would never want to go to anyone who does not have appropriate education. Esthetic license should get you in anywhere. There are advances esthetic courses you can take as well since many physicians want people who are experienced on the machines. Each machine is different though, and some states require direct education from the machine's manufacturer before allowing estheticians to use it.

Good luck.

What is the difference between a aesthetic physician and a dermatologist?

Cynthia

I am very interested in studying Dermatology after high school and a little while ago I came across this website of a certain skin care clinic and I looked at the biography of the doctors that worked at the clinic, some of them had a diploma in dermatology and others in practical dermatology or both. One of the doctors didn't have a diploma but a certificate of competence in aesthetic procedure. However, it said that they were all Aesthetic Physicians, so now I am confused as to whether a aesthetic physician is the same as a dermatologist.

Answer
To be a Board Certified Dermatologist takes intensive training (a residency) and passing the Board examination. Aesthetic Physicians, according to their web site, practice "a discipline within medicine that does not require formal residency training or a fellowship and can be practiced by a licensed physician of any specialty."
There are also Plastic Surgeons who help make people look better. If you're going toward a specialty, you're best off heading toward one that actually requires a residency and that is recognized--Dermatology or Plastic Surgery, depending upon your interests and abilities.

Hello there! I'm 13 and happened to just write or edit this and need some honest criticism on this. I'd like to know if it's good or bad? If it's bad then what can I do to improve it? I also want to know if I capture the feeling of the angel good enough, Thank you so very much if you respond! Also is it okay if I give away this much in the beginning? Does it leave you wondering?

When people try to imagine what an angel looks like, they most commonly picture us as beautiful, spiritual creatures. People think that we have soft, pale skin , golden sparkling haloâs above our heads, and that we dress in white, flowing robes twenty-four hours.

Well, Iâm sorry to rain on your imagination, but not all of us are like that. In fact, if people could just open their eyeâs once in a while. Theyâd actually see me. That nearly invisible little girl, with mousy brown hair huddled under an oak tree trying to escape the rain

I probably donât look like that spiritual creature you were trying to imagine a moment ago, with the pale skin, halo and robes. Though I do have wings, and I am a very important angel: a guardian angel in fact.

It was raining again for the billionth time today, so I was waiting for the rain to pass by standing under a tall oak tree on the pavement near a bunch of shops. All around me men with professional looking, black brief cases and business women with star bucks coffee in their hands, walked in their own separate direction. I felt so out of place here, like I didnât belong. For the first time that I could actually remember it, I felt really, truly lonely. I was tired and hungry, but the worst part was that I couldnât stop going over my plan and why I was here in the first place.

First you may wonder, shouldnât I be up in heaven? Well, yes and no. I could be in heaven but of course I chose myself to go on this quest, and to be Elisabeth Hopeâs guardian angel. I mean no one else was volunteering for the job so I figured why couldnât I do it? Now, Iâm down here on earth to find her and warn her before itâs too late of who she really is.
Iâm down here to also prove myself right, to in fact prove to everyone, that I, Lillian Doe, can do this. Everyone, even God himself thinks that this challenge is way too much for me, they all think that Iâm irresponsible too. Though I think I totally have this under control. Yeah it was way harder then I imagined back when I was applying for the quest, but now Iâm pretty sure that finding her will be a piece of cake!

If only it was, Iâve been searching the entire coast of Monterey California for days! If you think that Bell the head archangel of quests, had actually provided me with enough information to find Elisabeth. Then youâve got it all wrong, all I really know about her, is that sheâs a thirteen year old prophet, and that she lives somewhere here in Monterey.
Itâs like trying to find a needle in a haystack only different, like trying to find the prophet in the mortal town before some undenying dark force getâs to her first.
Super easy right?
I had only a few more places to check before I gave up on myself with this whole quest thing. Carmela and Oceana.

Answer
I think this is a good story - you have a great "voice" that's very personable and engaging. I found myself interested in this little creature and wondering what she was about. As a writer that's what you want to do - make the reader care about your character and wonder "what's next". Here's a few suggestions on what would have made this story better to me:

1. Use less words. Excessive words bog the story down. The tighter your sentences, the more concise and clearer they become. As an example, I've edited the first three paragraphs:

When people try to imagine what an angel looks like, usually they picture us as beautiful, spiritual creatures with soft, pale skin, golden sparkling haloâs above our heads, and that we dress in white, flowing robes twenty-four hours a day. Iâm sorry to rain on your imagination, but not all of us are like that. In fact, if people could just open their eyes once in a while, theyâd actually see me. That nearly invisible little girl, with mousy brown hair, huddled under an oak tree trying to escape the rain. I don't look anything like that creature you imagined.

But I do have wings. And I am a very important angel. A Guardian Angel in fact.

The unedited version has 136 words; the edited has 117 words and to me feels much smoother. I separated the part about her wings for emphasis. I got the sense that Lillian is a realist - she know what the expectations of others are (people on earth, God, other angels), she's aware of her shortcomings, but she's also aware of her strengths (the wings, her sense of importance, and her courage in taking on a challenging task).

2. Watch your grammar and spelling: "Starbucks" not "star bucks". "...open their eyes" instead of "open their eye's".

3. Review your sentences for clarity. This one was confusing: "Yeah it was way harder then I imagined back when I was applying for the quest, but now Iâm pretty sure that finding her will be a piece of cake!" I think you were trying to say that in the beginning she thought it was going to be a piece of cake, however using the words "but now" brings her thought process into the present and gives the impression that she still thinks it's a piece of cake. Replacing those words with something like "and was so sure" clarifies the meaning. There were also places where two sentences were used instead of one: "In fact, if people could just open their eyeâs once in a while. Theyâd actually see me." Instead, this should be written as: "In fact, if people could just open their eyes once in a while, theyâd actually see me."

These suggestions are really the easy part of writing. You've nailed the hard part: creating an interesting character with an interesting story to tell. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you get a dictionary, thesaurus, Strunk & White's "The Elements Of Style". I also recommend Stephen King's "On Writing" and Ann Lamott's "Bird by Bird". Best wishes to you and keep on writing! (Forgot to mention, I don't think you gave too much away. The little hints such as her name, being a prophet held my interest)

I permanently straightened my hair 3 months ago and now my hair is falling like anything- what to do?

I used the permanent Japanese straightening procedure and it was painful to begin with. I have been losing hair since but now it is worse! Almost 100 strands after every wash. I am having a nightmare. Any suggestions on how to save the remainder of my hair?

FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

Tension
Too much work
Illness
Poor diet
Over-exposure to the sun
Perming
Amateur bleaching
Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.
Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month ¡V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.
Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.
Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

Leave-in conditioner
Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

Oil
Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

Egg
Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.

What exactly is a cleanser when dealing with acne?

Switch it

I was told to use a cleanser for my ance. What is it? Is it the same thing as a astringent?

Answer
A face wash or an astringent; Witchazel and unfiltered apple cider are actually the best to use.

Stress levels, hormones & genetics can all contribute to acne development, so often times it takes more than a magic potion to get rid of it. Here are some natural remedies you can do at home that worked for me:

STOP eating and drinking foods with refined or artificial sugars, like high fructose corn syrup, crystalline fructose or aspartame/phenylalanine. Up your vitamins C, E, K & A; Omega-3's, antioxidants; Flax seed & extra-virgin olive & coconut oils: swallow a spoonful a day. Do some exercise like dancing or yoga. Get a little sun everyday, no more than 10 minutes if you have a light complexion. Drink more water. Try using witchazel as a toner during the day, and unfiltered apple cider vinegar at night.

A raw potato is cheap and brilliant acne natural cure, especially for whiteheads. The vitamin C makes your skin glow, and alkaline in the potato kills the bacteria on your face. The potato also has an exfoliating effect helping you to get rid of dead skin cells. Papaya fruit produces similar effect; you should also use it raw. (Make sure the potato isn't genetically modified!)

A wash of milk with lime is a great treatment for blackheads. First bring a glass of milk to a gentle boil, and then add juice from half a lime. When the milk cools down it makes a great face wash. You can store it in the fridge for a couple days. (Make sure the milk doesn't come from cattle that have been treated with rBGH)

How Do I Encourage My Daughter to get into Shape?

Labels:

My daughter is 19 and very overweight. I have always set an example of eating healty and regular exercising. She won't talk about her weight. I don't bring it up but I do encourage her to make healty changes/choices. Today I offered to get her a personal trainer/nutritionist. She just said no. I am very worried about the long-term affects on her health, career, relationships, etc. I know she is not happy with her body the way it is. What can I do to help?

Answer
The fact that she doesnât want to talk about it means that you havenât found the right avenue to get her to open up. Try asking her how she feels when you try to talk to her about her weight. As HER what to do or say to encourage her. Then do it. Ask her what makes her feel bad, and then stop doing THAT.

Remember, you may not be able to be the one who "saves" her. There is also something about the mother-daughter relationship and the need for children to separate themselves from their parents that can throw a wrench into your perfectly great intentions to help her.

A thought - find out why she is averse to a personal trainer. Does she hate the idea of talking to a thin, fit person about her eating habits? Is she afraid they will work her to death in the exercise department?

Ask yourself if the choices you are modelling will actually cause her to lose weight. I assume you know what you are talking about, but there is still a lot of misinformation about what works for the "very overweight." It may not be what works best for HER body.

Her problem probably feels daunting, and if anything is to change, she needs to âownâ the solution. Try giving her the book "Body Clutter," by Marla Cilley. See reference below.

These may not apply to your situation, but here are some of the things I did with my dd when she was very unhappy about her physical appearanceâ¦.it may not be sufficient for someone who is âveryâ overweight, but it worked great for her. She took off 40 lbs over a number of months, and it has really changed her social life â yes, it isnât fair, but people do treat âfat peopleâ differently. We celebrated milestones along the way, and I made sure that the celebrations were not so much about pounds lost, but about her choosing a goal and making it happen in a healthy way. We planned some of these celebrations in advance, so she could look forward to them. (I also warned her that losing weight too fast was NOT ok, and would NOT be celebrated!) The celebrations were mostly about shopping for new clothes, and sometimes about money with which to enjoy shopping/shows with her friends.

Anyway, here is what I did:
Told her what I thought was beautiful about her.
Told her that in the long run, having a beautiful character would have a bigger effect on her life-long beauty than her outward appearance. (she probably didnât care, but hey, I got it in there anyway).
Told her that most people go through awkward periods when they have more fat than their friends, are taller or shorter, have the wrong sort of hair to be considered stylish (is it an perm or a flat-hair look that is in?), their noses and legs arenât in proper proportion to everything else. As for people who are âmagazine beautifulâ all through their teens, well, itâs not fair, and they probably hate how they look anyway. So anyway, she could look forward to being her own special brand of beautiful when she grew up.
Hollywood stars of the past were all considered beautiful because they were unique, and they were styled in a way that made the most of their uniqueness, whether it was Betty Davisâ eyes, Joan Crawford's shoulders, Marylyn Monroeâs curvy, large hourglass figure, or Audrey Hepburnâs long neck.
Models in magazines are airbrushed and look like normal people without their make-up and designer clothing.
Most people only look their best when they wear clothing that is appropriate to their body type and in colors that are becoming to their skin. Encouraged her to learn her body and what colors make her skin glow with health, and you can feel better every time you get dressed. (in her case, dropped waists to elongate a short waist, open neckline to minimize extra wide shoulders, and blue green, for example).
If she doesnât like something about her appearance, she has the ability to change it to be whatever she wants it to be, but it would be wise to work within what nature provided.
I warned her about anorexia and bulimia as ruining not just her health (like kids even care about that!), but ruins the metabolism so that she could spend her adult life fat and struggling, if she made it that far, or emaciated and concentration-camp-ish.
Told her that it is WAY easier to lose weight now vs later. Older women really struggle to take off weight, especially since people who are fat are have fat cells that are literally secreting hormones that cause further fat storage. (SO not fair!)
I told her that food, while enjoyable, is meant to nourish us, not sedate us. So she can and should enjoy different foods, but not ârestaurant portionsâ that are geared to make people fat.
Encouraged her to pay close attention to feelings of being hungry, vs. feeling satisfied (i.e., not hungry anymore, but not stuffed), vs. feeling full (stuffed). Encouraged her to aim for "satisfied."
Told her that sometimes hunger is really thirst, and to try water first if she thought she had eaten too recently to be really hungry. Besides, the body needs water to burn off fat! If that didn't work, then eat.
Suggested she enjoy mini-meals whenever she felt hungry throughout the day, along with plenty of fresh, clean water. While I encouraged her to eat healthy foods, letting her know that junk foods build fat much better than they build a pretty complexion, I didnât fuss any more than usual about veggies (i.e. gotta eat your salad and veggies at the dinner table before seconds or dessertâ¦.after eating that, she could ask herself if she felt like eating more at that moment, or not).
Told her to start with just 15 minutes of exercise per day, like Flylady advises.
Encouraged her to exercise in ways that she enjoyed, like dancing to music in her room, joining the Y, walking the dog with me, etc. She does NOT love to exercise, but I havenât leaned on her too much about this since she doesnât seem open to hearing about it from me.

Good luck! I know this is a really hard problem.

Is there really a need for landscape architects and interior architects?

Jake Morri

Also known as landscape designers and interior designers but with at minimum a bachelors degree. I ask this because an architect can design outdoor and indoor spaces as well as a building while landscape and interior architects can only manage part of a project.

Or I've heard people say in some professions that it's good to focus on one aspect of a broad career. An example is advertising, you're better at focusing on one part like animation, rather than dabbling in all parts if you want to be most successful.

What are your thoughts?

Answer
Each of these careers suffer when the economy slips.
Architects (of structures) can design the building and it's interiors and outdoor SPACES!
But a landscape architect will know the best plant materials for the site, where to place them to enhance the structure, and the required care for maintaining the health and beauty of the materials installed.

Be Young LOVING CARE essential oil blend to increase your breastmilk supply?

lacey

Has anyone had success at using the Be Young LOVING CARE essential oil blend to increase your breastmilk supply?? I was told to rub it on the breasts after nursing.

Answer
It is not the essential oils that are important but rather the massage of the breast as this helps increase breast milk production

In fact I would suggest you use a natural carrier oil such as Jojoba Oil if lubrication is required to help with the massage. As it is almost identical organically-speaking to sebum, which is the natural oil produced by your skin.

Hope this helps!

How to take care of my acne and dark spots?

Erica Tayl

I'm fifteen years old and I have many dark spots from previous break outs. I don't really have a lot of pimples just spots, but I don't have any bad indents in the skin. My skin is also very dry even though I dont put any acne product on it and i moisturize it daily. Also I wear makeup almost every day unless i'm not going out. I'm currently taking a prescribed pill and daily skin vitamins to get rid of my acne and I wash it in the morning and at night, but is there anything else I can do? Usually about once a week I also use pore strips and do a few masks as well, so I should have good or at least better skin. But despite all this my skin still breaks out occasionally and I still have spots. Any tips?

Answer
Adam Lambert has the worst acne scars. JLo, even Demi Moore have been seen with scars on their faces during interviews. Seal, the musician, Heidi Klum's ex have you seen the scar on his face? Demi in October 2012 issue of 'People magazine, showed her freckles (acne?) on the cover and inside article photo showed she had them removed but there was a 'hole' and no makeup could fill that in. How about Jennifer Hudson 'flea beaten scars' on her legs, as if she had itched them and got infected. I had some of those when I was a kid. Just as recently as October, I had a tiny spider (?) bite where my watch was, and after 2 weeks, it was dried and I thought it was healing, so I peeled it. Even though it was covered by my watch, there is a tiny freckle there now, but it had heeled, except it was darker. I should just let it fall off, when it was time instead of 'rushing it, exposing tender skin. This is now Dec and the freckle is not going away. Update it's January now, and I could hardly see it. Anyway . . . with all their money they're making now, even beauty products can't do anything about their faces or should I say scars.
Avoid too much sun exposure, so it won't make your scars even DARKER. Skin heals. So let your skin heals.

Sunscreens or lotions does not protect you from nasty, painful burns. Lotions does not protect you from skin cancer. Lotions does not protect you from skin diseases. Lotions does not protect you from discolorations - permanently. And lotions does not protect you from skin tags, freckles, moles, they will only get larger, darker, and bumpier as they are exposed from UV.

Take the Skin Picture Quiz - Identify These Common Skin Conditions on MedicineNet.

Any kind of facial wash, you're leaving something toxic behind, it's not a matter of convenience, it's a billion dollar business that can do more harm than good to your acne. And sometimes we feel entirely virtuous about our skin-care regimen because it's full of SPF-- all year round!-- and cleansers and such. But the truth is, we may not realize that we're overdoing (or underdoing) something that can lead to the very thing we're trying to avoid: dryness, breakouts, accelerated aging, New York dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf. (I've been giving this same advice for decades, but she's proof enough!).
Take a shower everyday, use washcloth to exfoliate and bath & body wash. Hydrogen peroxide does wonders for acne. Visit their website for more tips & other uses. ONLY $1.

Acne medication could worsen what ever allergies you have, so instead of trying out one product after another, you're actually spreading it around.
The less products you use, the better for your skin. Use a bath & body wash like Suave, Irish Spring, Dove Body & Face wash in the shower, use a washcloth. Treat your face like the rest of your body, take a shower everyday or wash your face everyday.

Sometimes just the oil on your face from make up and lotions, even from your hair can travel to your face causing acne to come out. Others, from stress, hormones & diet or foods.

If acne's a problem, your pillowcases may be part of the cause. "They collect skin oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, and excess night creams," says David Bank, a professional Dermatology @ Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. "But if nothing changed by 6 week the product will never work for you. Time to move on."

"If you have breakouts, dairy is the devil' it is inflammatory and will add hormones to your already hormone-rife system. Get calcium elsewhere, or try nonfat organic dairy products. For PMS breakouts, avoid dairy and bakery items the week before your period - sugar and flour are both causes for pimples and collagen." Dr. Jessica Wu, M.D. University of Southern California School of Medicine and author of the new book Feed Your Face.

SOMEONE WROTE TO ME the other day, ASKING IF THIS BRAND IS BETTER THAN THAT BRAND - FOUND @ DRUGSTORES THEN WROTE ME BACK & THANK ME, SHE LOOKED @ HER MOM'S SKIN AND THEY WERE GOOD, BUT SHE USES ONLY WATER TO WASH HER FACE. There you go, an update.

Lea Michele recently revealed her secret to clear skinâShe gives it room to "breathe." "Maybe I'll put on a little mascara. But other than that I try very hard to just let my skin breathe," she told people.com. "I care more about letting my skin breathe than how I look."
Another good example is Lily Collins, actor, writer, artist: "When I travel to Europe, I go days without putting anything on. It feels healthier. I just never understood the idea of caking it on. The more you have on your face, the more there is to smudge and go wrong." Glamour - Sept. 2012.

How do you make your skin soft and smooth?

Jacey

What kind of body wash and body lotion makes your skin super soft? I'm not sure of my skin type. It's not oily(like my face) but I'm not sure if it's considered dry or normal. My skin is also kinda sensitive and if I use lotion from Bath&Body Works it stings and burns. So if anyone can recommend a good moisturizing lotion and wash that would be fabulous! :)

Answer
1. Staying out of the sun. If you have gotten sunburned before you're 18, you'll have dark spots or brown spots, some get freckles and those will get darker and bumpier as you get older. It's best not to make them darker or bumpy, and staying out of the sun will prevent that. Just from the heat, can make anyone flaky. I use my wide brim hat everywhere I go, and while I'm inside a car as a rider, I use blanket over the window or sit where it's shady. Lotions does not protect you from sunburn, same with cancer and could permanently discolor your skin. Lotions does not protect you from skin diseases. Take the Skin Picture Quiz - Identify These Common Skin Conditions on MedicineNet.

2. Don't go in a tanning bed. You'll aged 10-15 years faster.

3. Bathing or showering in hot water and too much chlorine can make you looking like 'dishpan hands'. Use warm to cool water. Too much sun & water causes aging, skin's worst enemies.

4. Use a washcloth when taking a shower. I use Bath & Body (Suave, Dove, Irish Spring, etc.) wash for body & face. No baths! The less you're in the water, the less you'll get wrinkles.

5. For oily skin, the less you fuss with your skin, the better. Keep your face oil-free & dry from dirt & perspiration. Blot it with a tissue or blotter, and keep them dry. Using powder foundation, blush & eyeshadow is best. Less is best, less product poisoning. Google Elizabeth Taylor when she's 16, then Google her when she's 79.

6. Servings of 3-5 fresh fruits & vegetables daily. Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN
All the vitamins & minerals you need for good skin care comes from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man, those can do more harm than good.

7. For your hands, wear gloves winter, spring, fall, and wear gloves for every chores you do, so you don't have to wash them often. In the garden, office, kitchen. Thank God for those! Too bad they don't have ones for feet.

How to cure headaches caused by smell, light and noise?

Rachel

I am 20 years old and have been suffering from headaches for almost 5 years now. It started off small, a headache once a month and it got worse and worse as the years passed. I was at my extreme high when I was 18. Headaches all day every day. I have seen a headache specialist, had an mri, blood work, prescription drugs. Nothing works and I still have so many unanswered questions. I am no longer seeing a doctor since it is pointless at this point and I no longer have insurance, I refuse to be on any medication. The past year has gotten a lot better, the patterns are very uneven in when I get my headaches and how long they last. Sometimes I can go a month without getting one, but lately its been back to everyday headaches.

The number 1 trigger for my headaches are smells. It can be any smell, too. Good and bad. I recently got some lovely candles and cant even have them near me when they are UNLIT because the smell is so strong, its getting out of control. I walk into a room with a strong scent and get a headache within seconds, its truly astonishing how fast this happens and how I don't even have the chance to prevent it. Perfumes are of course the worst! I cant wear perfume or be around it whatsoever.
The second most caused trigger is from brightness, or light. If I didn't have sunglasses I would be screwed, especially while driving. The bright sky, lights, or whatever it may be stress out my eyes and if I don't put on sunglasses or look away I will get a headache.
Next, sounds trigger my headaches as well. This doesn't happen nearly as often as the smell or sight one, but its a trigger. I can listen to pretty loud, bass heavy music but sometimes it will give me a headache. I am still trying to figure out more about this since it doesn't happen as much.

I need answers. I can't live like this, its not fun. I feel like its sucking the youth out of me. I don't ever go out with friends anymore and have been feeling so anti social. Nothing ruins a good night like a migraine. People that don't get them simply don't understand. It ruins my mood completely, I don't wanna do anything, I don't wanna hang out with anyone, I just wanna stay home and relax.

Some thing you should know: I'm not allergic to any foods. I use all natural make up, beauty products, lotions, soaps, shampoo, everything. I eat very healthy! I don't drink cows milk, although I do have dairy products maybe once a week. I juice, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I work out once a day and stay fit (I'm 5 ft tall and 100 lbs). I'm not anemic. Migraines don't run in my family. I have good health history. No drugs, no smoking! I drink LOTS of water, never dehydrated.

Does anybody experience headaches this severe? Are there any natural remedies that you have tried that actually work? Does anyone have sensitive senses related to headaches? What causes these? Why me?Is there something wrong with my brain? Am I going to live like this for the rest of my life?

Thanks for reading. I hope someone can help me.

Answer
Sounds like a migraine to me. Have friend w/them, there is NOTHING you can do about it. She is a nurse.....nothing can be done. She has all your same triggers. Goes to bed, in dark room w/warm damp cloth on her forehead....complete silence....helps....just a little.
Have you tried standing under hot water in the shower when you have one.....water on head and neck. Might help. Has rid me of headaches before.

allanbabes

Is it effective? How can you compare it to the Obagi Skin care products?

Answer
Your skin absorbs everything you put on it. It goes straight to your blood stream.

Pro Active has harsh minerals for ingredient. I found they made me tired and eventually ate away at my skin. I found that proactive bleached my towels and clothes... I was super mad!!! I didn't even bother sending it back...

I stated using Mary Kay, then I ended up selling it... Facial skin needs a balance of being clean, refreshed, refined and moisturized...

Lack of moisture in your skin creates acne... I know it sounds odd... most people think "my face is oily, I need to wash it before I breakout"

Microdermabrasion is a good way to get ride of dead skin cells (which cause breakouts also) ...

Clinique has good facial cleaning products. Lancome sells AWESOME moisturizers... MAC's cleaning products are horrible for your skin ... they are more of "get the makeup off my face" type of stuff... so...

My acne was not horrible. I only had a few blemishes, but I still wanted a pure complexion.

I use Airbon now. It is an all natural formula. I love it! I have the perfect, un blemished skin now!

Skin Care Products - Obagi, Anti-Aging, Where can I buy this stuff?

Mike M

My sister asked me to get her something to do with "Obagi Skin Care" for her birthday. She also was interested in Anti-Aging creams or skin treatment, or whatever its called. Where can I find this stuff? She was really insistent on the Obagi Skin Care, but I don't know where to buy it.

Answer
I have been a fan of Obagi Skin Care since it came out to the general public. It has worked great, and yes, it is hard to find. I found a few sites that offer it, but all were very expensive or not worth it. I finally found a site that offered really good quality Obagi and anti-aging products, so it is the only site I use anymore :) The site is:
http://www.skinproductsonline.com/

There main page says:
Thousands of skin care products and skin care - now specializing in obagi skin care! Skin Products Online also offers wrinkle creams, anti aging skin care, body scrubs, lotions, body firming lotions, and organic skin care.

What kind of licensing do I need To Make and Sell Home Made Soaps?
I am starting my own natural baby skin care line and am wondering if someone can help me out with what I need to do as far as licenses, Patents?, etc to make sure I am doing everything legal and no one copies my brand.
0 seconds ago - 4 days left to answer.

Answer
send your recipe to a lawyer with a SASE and have him/her send it back to you.....file for a patent thru the U.S. patent office...find a manufacturer to make your product..until then, you could test sell it at flea markets and have a results paper for the ppl to fill out...if it sells then, go to various stores and try to have them put some on their shelves......and good luck

How to come out w/ my own skin care line?

Guillermo

I'm about to go to an institute for aesthetics and I wanted to know of any ideas of any of you guys knowing how it would be possible to come out & develop my own private labeled anti-aging skin care line? I know what I would somewhat like to have in my own products & moisturizers, but how to go about doing so is the most difficult part of it of all. I would love to see my very own skin care products sold in stores.

Answer
Contact www.alternativebeauty.com - they are a private label skin care and hair care manufacturer. You can design your own labels or "screens", select the products you want to use. I believe they make 200+ products. You should be able to find something in the anti-aging area - for women or me.

Good Luck!

What is going to happen when officers in AZ start asking white people for proof they are Americans?

Mr. Wolf

Not all illegal immigrants have brown skin and the law does not state they can only check people with brown skin. It can be and will be twisted for probable cause to ID anybody. I know that because I would use it myself and dare my department to write me up because the suspect was white or black for that matter.

Answer
Conservatives went NUTS when the government wanted to regulate health insurance. They don't seem to care at all that the cops are now going to be able to demand proof of citizenship from anyone they see. What are they even pretending to conserve?

Conservatives used to be against forcing Americans to show their "papers." What happened to you people? When did you forget our rights and freedoms?

How do you feel about the issue of the Harvard teacher and the police officer?

jkb :) :(

I won't explain the whole story, so look it up if you don't know, but do you think it is racism, a misunderstanding, or a good arrest on the cop's part? I think that the cop should have arrested him, because the professor admitted to shouting things like " you'll regret this!" and "This isn't the last of me that you will see!" and i consider that threats torwards an officer.....and he was arrested for disorderly conduct..what do you think?

Answer
Typical black guy. That's what I think. If he would have just let the cops leave he never would have gotten arrested. THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY OUT. But no, he had to pull the race card and make it a black man thing. And for those who say the cops never should have entered the home, they're wrong. When cops receive a burglary call, they have every right to enter the premises until they are satisfied there isn't a burglary going on. Think about it. What if he really WAS a burglar? He said "I'm going to get my IDs", but the cops don't know that! He might be going to get a gun, or going to run out the back door. The cop followed him in as a precaution.

The cops did everything right, and have no reason to apologize. The black guy needs to apologize for being such a retard. But I guess he got what he wanted, PR and a beer with his Messiah.

@ Chickie: BS they had no right to arrest him. It's not their fault he's a hot head and kept at it. I don't care if he had a flight from China. Disorderly Conduct is an offense. And yes, the cops were probably sick of hearing him rant about the color of his skin, so they arrested him. But don't say they had no right, he was acting disorderly. The thing that I think is hilarious is that he was mad for being bothered so early in the morning, but then proceeded to make a HUGE scene, which most likely woke all of his neighbors who had to work the next day. So he didn't really think about anyone but himself. If it were me, I would have said, "Thanks for looking out for me guys" and let the cops leave. But black people are so ridiculous anymore, that if you do ANYTHING to them, they pull the race card. By the way, I'm not a racist, but clearly this black guy is. Youtube some of his speeches if you don't believe me.

I'm 15 and I've recently decided to be an "ovo-vegetarian." i decided to be a little more vegan as well, although i'm not full-on vegan. i'm not rich so i don't have a lot of money to buy makeup and skin care products from companies such as estee lauder.

any suggestions? does bath and body works test on animals?

Answer
before jumping into not eating meat, do your research, and a lot of it. going vegetarian can be a shock to your system. Especially because you are young. For instance, if you eat too much soy, it can cause acne. Soy mimics female estrogen, and can mess with your hormone levels.

Maybe you can start with being a "beauty vegan" by using only products that are vegan approved.

One such makeup line is christopher drummond beauty. Even the brushes are vegan approved!

Can everyday skin care products cause brain damage long term?

onomazome

Hello,
I was wondering if everyday skin care products like sunscreen, face wash, and moisturizer etc, can cause brain damage over time?

Are they eventually excreted from the body?

Thanks in advance!

Answer
no, they do not cause brain damage. all skin care products have been tested (not on animals) and if they were to cause brain damage, it would be illegal to sell.

Q. Mary Kay Inc. is asserting that for the year 2005 Mary Kay was the best selling brand of facial skin care, eye makeup remover and lip color (including lipstick, lip gloss and lip liner).

I asked the company that puts out that study that Mary Kay is basing their claim on and they informed me that "The figures you refer to are at the manufacturers' level. This represents Mary Kay's sales to the reps. Other brands are also compared at the same level (from the company to the retailer)."

What this means is that Mary Kay has sold more products in those categories to its consultants than other companies have sold to their retail outlets.

Mary Kay Inc's website says that last year they had over 2 Billion Dollars in Sales to Consultants.

Im just scared of them and im scared of rejection. I dont have any friends. Male or female. I always create imaginary friends. I am 27 years old and never had my first kiss.

Answer
It's a skill like any other. Imagine learning to ride a bike..you fall off and skin your knee..whatever...it hurts.... you keep doing it..pretty soon you and pop wheelies and do the no hands thing and what not.
Sounds silly but really it's no different. Every time you get rejected it gets a little easier (lol) until you're just all over the place makin friends and enemies and getting some action and rejection. Just do it dude.. who cares. I'm retarded, half the crap I say is bs or wrong when I talk to girls... if they call me on it I laugh and talk to a different one. I have the worst conversational skills ever (I could never talk as coherently as I'm typing here) but as long as you come across confident it doesnt really matter.

I am bored with my life why is it so hard for a good girl to find a good man?

I am a 28 year attractive old female from Louisiana, I have a job take care of myself, keep myself up, so why is it so hard to find a man. I have my own car, my own, money, my own place to stay. I have everything in life that I want and need except a man. I think that there is a shortage of men and that some men just dont want a good woman. I am african american(BLACK), but I am not racist. I just want to know what seems to be the problems with men. No dumb answers serious inquires. What is happening to the men in america, where are the good men.

Answer
Believe me you are not the only one that thinks so. I am 27 and live in SOUTH AFRICA and it seems all the good men are either taken or just simply not available. Its a world problem not only in america. My advice to myself and you is to not worry about it and im sure that somewhere there is decent, honest and respecful men that are looking for good women.

You will find your ideal match and if you do not dont despair as one must be comfortable in your own skin and dont be afraid to be alone if you dont find what you are looking for!!!!

Do not settle for second best!!!! Goodluck and dont worry too much....

How do I talk to my mom about moving out of my house and into a nursing home?

Labels:

skin care for 60 and older on Hairstyles For 50 Year Old Woman Pictures | Best Beauty Product
skin care for 60 and older image

shawnsmom_

She is 60 years old and weighs 544 pounds. She fell about 6 months ago and now can hardly walk. She has gotten alot better but still can't walk far and she can't get in the bed by herself among many other things. I have to work. My husband is much older than me so he is retired and stays home with her while I'm at work. I love my mom but its not fair to my husband to be stuck at home with her all day and for us to never be able to go anywhere together. She is way to heavy for us to have to be pulling up and lifting her legs up into the bed and pulling her up and over in the bed. She is very demanding and if I tell her she needs to move to a nursing home she will make it out like I hate her and don't want her and that I am the meanest person in the world.

Answer
Unfortunately, obesity is a growing reason why some people who are young to be admitted to nursing homes. I am sure she was probably still struggling to walk when living independently, but the fall really made things worse for her ability to take care of herself. Can your mom afford a caregiver during the day where your husband will not have to stay with her? Even some nursing homes are not equipped to care for individuals who are morbidly obsese. In the nursing home I worked, the Administrator refused a hospital admission for a resident who weighed 500 pounds because the specialized bed cost a fortune and had to be put together since it wouldn't fit through the door to the room.

You definitely don't want to risk a back injury. Lifting and turning/repositioning someone who weighs 544 is no light job (no pun intended). If your mom cannot afford a caregiver who can come in, then just be honest with your mom. Your husband shouldn't be put in the position where he has to help her with her bathroom needs......due to her size, she is definitely at risk for skin breakdown between her folds.

I've had these for like 2 years now and i don't know what to do! They look kinda like bruise..they are purple and some what black. THANKS

Answer
get an hour or 2 more sleep. relax, becuase these are signs of stress and tiredness. dont get up to an alarm, because you are usually still tired. you need at least 8 hours for adults, 10-11 for teens, and about 12-13 for the elderly. tips that helped many people:

-put frozen green tea bags under your eyes for about 45- 60 minutes a day.
-drink more water
-sleep more
-stress less
-excersize
-put cucumber slices under them
-preperation H
- put an ice bag on them
-concealer

hope i helped
