Can a dog's Leptospirosis vaccine diminish their immune system enough to give them Staphylococcus?

skin care for 9 year old image

Jennie

My 9 year old beagle mix, Pickles, was just given the Leptospirosis vaccine for the first time. We got the vaccine when going to the veterinarian for her 6-month Bordetella vaccine. Unfortunately, we only saw the male vet tech (whom we have only ever seen before alongside the vet). I expressed my concern of our not being able to see the veterinarian but didn't think too much about it since they have always taken such great care of my dog, Pickles. The vet tech told me she needed the Leptospirosis vaccine as the risk is high where we live (in New York City) due to the increased population of rats. I had never heard of this vaccine in my life and was told it was "common practice to give dogs this vaccine", that this place "gives this vaccine all of the time", and it's a "you're better safe then sorry". He handed me the drug company's pamphlet on it and I can't help but feel it was a little pushed and rushed upon us.

The vaccine is a two-parter and, after the first shot, Pickles had a small bout of diarrhea and was lethargic. She also was sneezing and reverse sneezing. I cleared up the diarrhea within a day or so with chicken and rice and the other side effects seemed to go away soon after. However, when we went in for the second shot, things were almost immediately wrong. She had a huge welt on her leg where the shot was given, which lasted for 3-4 days, and was bothered to walk because of it. She was even more lethargic than after the first shot and her sneezing and reverse sneezing had increased slightly. Then, the day after Easter, I could tell instantly she had a urinary tract infection. Ultimately she was urinating blood and, at times, was trying to go with nothing coming out. I immediately rushed a urine sample up to her vet. When I got there they charged me $250 for the medicine, a urine test, and for the urine to be sent out to get a culture. The veterinarian called me to tell me that my dog has an alarming amount of bacteria in her urine and has Staphylococcus (even though she has none of the typical physical symptoms such as patchy, itchy skin). I told her of my extreme discontent with how sick she had become all because of this unnecessary vaccine and she told me the two diseases were unrelated. She stated I would need to come in to pick up more medicine as she will need to be on the antibiotics for another TWO weeks. Of course as soon as I got up there I was charged another $110 for further fix of a problem they never told me the risks of.

I am not a veterinarian but I do have a degree in biology and like to think I come equipped with at least part of a brain. From everything I have researched on this matter, so far, I have seen that Leptospirosis and Staphylococcus are BOTH bacteria driven issues. Is there a veterinarian out there who can please give me their educated opinion with out bias? Also, any dog owners who have had any of these same issues after giving their dog this vaccine?

I am forever grateful,,,

Answer
Vaccine's don't diminish the immune system. They actually trigger the immune system to produce a reaction as though the body has been invaded and that includes producing antibodies. So, getting the lepto vaccine wouldn't cause your pet to develop disease. (The reason that vaccines aren't recommended for animals that are already sick is because the immune system is compromised by the disease process and therefore is unlikely to produce a good response to the vaccine and could still leave your pet susceptible.)

From what you describe, your dog had an allergic reaction to the initial vaccine and the vet should have been informed about it prior to the second vaccine being given. This sort of reaction to a vaccine, which is abnormal and overblown, could possibly leave an animal more susceptible to something else because the immune system is "out of whack". But it is very unlikely that the bladder infection was caused by the vaccination.

What kinds of jobs and what are the processes do you have to go to as a 15 year old?

Cool Calm

Pretty good and easy "best answer" if you're familiar with jobs.
yeah, I'm only 15 and I'm looking for a job. I don't know how to get a work permit, a bank account or any of that stuff.
Like, step by step.

Someone guide me on how to : -> get a work permit -> bank account.

a bonus would be if you could give me a list of jobs 15 year olds are applicapable of.

I live in the bay area (San Jose) It'd be helpful if someone can give me tips on what jobs to get as well.

No, you may not get my street address, for those pedos out there.
Thanks!

Answer
Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.

3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you.

7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.

8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

How to Clear up my skin and get rid of scars?

Pokefan112

I've always had bad skin. Oily, oily skin. Of course, this leads to breakouts. Which lead to acne scars. Could someone either tell me some natural ways, or a REAAAAALLLLLY good product that will:

- Get rid of/ keep acne away
- Get rid of scars
- Get rid of bags under eyes

Answer
This treatment can get rid of dark circles in one or two nights. See 2 testimonials below ##
Many on Answers have tried all the creams and many of the home treatments and under eye rollers and report that they did not nothing to lessen bags.
There is an epidemic of acne problems and under eye bags and circles and many are reported by those in teens or early twenties. The main reason is skin sickening toxins in skin care, cosmetic and skin medicating products. Many teenage girls use 20 or more products daily and an alarming number of products contain skin(and health) harming toxins. See this site "Skin Deep Cosmetic Database:A Feelgood Resource" The Database shows results of tests on many thousands of products and identifies which ones are the most harming and those which are non or only minimally harming. So the first thing to do is select the none or least harming products on the Database..

Then try these safe, natural treatments that will quickly and permanently get rid of them. They really work and have helped many on Answers

## This is a response I received from wannabeblue28:
âHi Mukunda M. I have just been rubbing my face with oil using my fingers and hands and It has made a HUGE difference in my complexion after just one night. â¦â¦ My skin looks so much tighter everywhere and i no longer have bags under my eyes! Thank you so much for your post, I have been suffering with acne and under-eye circles since i was young.â

## Here's a response from Candy :)
Asker's Comment:"I tried this a day or 2 ago, OMGosh it workedd out amazingly, thx some much and thx to you who ansered, they were all good answers. =D"

Vigorous face massaging with pure natural oil permanently rid my face of acne AND removed my bags/circles. Extra virgin olive oil works well for many. It's noncomedogenic so does not clog, cause breakouts or make skin oily. Massage greatly tightens skin under and around the eye area and the bags go away. For quickest results massage quite fast with front and tips of fingers and palms . Use both hands and do forward and back massage.Circular massage will not work
(1) Do long up and down sweeps close to nose from chin area up to near eyes.
(2) Do another up and back at an angle from chin point to cheek bone.
(3) Do fast up and down massage close to eye from cheek bones at an angle of 45 degrees (on your crows feet).
.
IMPORTANT: To avoid skin pulling first make facial skin taught by partially opening mouth and pulling lips firmly back against teeth (tightens most of face)
Additionally facial yoga exercises help a great deal. Find on You Tube. Do the âThe lion faceâ and try to hold for 30 seconds. A variation of that is protruding the tongue as if trying to touch tip of nose with tip of tongue.

What's the best way to contact/get magazines to do reviews and editorial press on your products?

beauty and health reviews on Health and Beauty Accessories - Natural Products - Retail - Earth ...
beauty and health reviews image

Q. I'm looking for information on the Health/Beauty/Style sections.

Answer
I assume you're not keen on using a PR agency? That's the kind of thing they'd be able to do for you.

The simplest way is to target five or six of the leading magazine in your sector and give them a call. Explain you want to send a product for review and ask for the name of the person concerned. Send them samples with a press release about your product.

Not all reviews may be good - so be sure your products stand up against the competition.

If you want a good review you can also pay for an advertorial in almost all magazines and newspapers.

Good luck.

Definitely check out Aveda's products. They have something for every hair type. What is your position if you work at Fred Meyer straightening up shelves, etc...?

Ali*

I am making a resume and can't figure out the job title for this.
I used to work in the health & beauty aids (HABA) at Fred Meyer. The shampoo/female items/vitamins/travel size items-those types of aisles.
I would straighten up the shelves, answer customer questions about products & help them find what they're looking for, answer the phone i carried on me & usually it would be a customer asking about a product in my area.
What would that position be called?
Would it be called a sales associate?

Answer
Sounds like a sales associate. You also could be called a customer service representative.

Waxing and threading?

skin care trends 2013 image

Rose

How much does each cost? And is it safe to get threaded at a mall?

Answer
Before you invest: Google Lily Collins' eyebrows. Get an idea what's IN. She's being herself. She's an artist, actress, model, TV personality.

Threading is the newest trend, cost $15 @ the mall.

NO MATTER which hair removal you used, as long as your hair continues to grow, you'll be doing that for the rest of your life. None is easier or faster, or PERMANENT.

If done incorrectly, the hairs can break. If hair is broken from an inexperienced threading professional, hair re-growth will show up much quicker.

The discomfort is similar to tweezing, but the process is much, much quicker. Some people say they have very little pain from threading, but it has a lot to do with the skill of the technician. Use a warm compress to relax the hair follicle for an easier exit, and apply a numbing spray prior to service if you have a low tolerance to any discomfort.

Threading is primarily done on the face, and pricing will vary according to where the salon or spa is located, and what type of facility it is. A 15% - 20% gratuity on your total bill is customary and suggested.
Eyebrow (both eyebrows, including in-between) $12 - $50
Lip (skin right above upper lip) $6 - $20
Full Face $35 - $60
Chin $6 - $15

Sarah Hyland: "I tweeze my eyebrows. I've never had them waxed and have never had anybody else tweeze them. I like them full, and I just take care of the strays."

Costs of pubic hair waxing/shaving:
* Monetary: At $40-70 per Brazilian wax job, this comes to $500-800 per year -- nearly the cost of a year's textbooks, or auto insurance.
* Medical: The microscopic wounds around the labia, scrotum, and genital area are vulnerable to staph infections (including antibiotic-resistant staph), genital cellulitis, ingrown hair abscesses that can leave scars, increased herpes infections, and suspected increased vulnerability to other STIs.
* Emotional: Intense peer pressure to shave leaves girls little choice but to go along with it unless they want to feel sexually shunned and unattractive -- even among their girlfriends.

Females: "Going Brazilian increase your odds of an external infection where the hair grows. Shaving and waxing can make the skin angry and irritated the more hair you take off the greater your risks. A bad cellulitis infection on her labia a patient went to ER, they were swollen the size of a golf ball. A little lawn maintenance is fine". ~ Glamour 2-13
Pubic hair shaving incidents landed nearly 12,000 people in the E.R. in recent years.

Of 30 cases of STMC that presented at a private French dermatology practice from January to March of last year, 93 percent were in patients who had removed their pubic hair.
The dermatologists saw 6 women, 24 men, and a bunch of lesions -- which were "located on the pubis with extension on the abdomen in four cases and legs in one." Six patients also had ingrown hairs. Four had genital warts, indicators of papillomavirus. Two had folliculitis, and another had a benign cyst. One had scars. The Atlantic. MAR 19 2013

when bleaching hair at home more than once, how many days should be left between processes?

Emily Coll

I'm planning on bleaching my hair with the Beyond the Zone 40 vol. kit, I'll need to process it more than once (I'm going for a super-light blonde so I can re-dye it purple and blue at a later stage) I was thinking of leaving four days between each process and using two hair masks in the between days. Is this enough or should I leave it longer?
and are there any other ways to minimize damage?

Answer
If you're bleaching more than a month, two months, three months, you're bleaching too much.
Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.

I've responded to many girls (guys now too) under 15 experiencing in hair loss since 2009, due to hair straightening, relaxers and hair dyes. Women 60-90 have those same symptoms but it took them years to get there. But for 15 & under, giving advice here? They can't predict the future of their hairs, until they're in their 30's, but 15 & under with hair loss? C'mon! I've responded 7 in 2 hours 9-3-10, (before school started) 4 in 1hour 3-5-11 alone.

One example of hair loss on a 16 years old.
I'm 16 years old, i don't really die my hair that much i probably died it like twice this whole year. well i lose soooo much hair EVEY SINGLE DAY, i lose soo much, that I'm literally almost bald :,( my doctor said she thinks its some kind of hormone change, then my hairstylist says its because its waaay to dry, but idk what it is because it wont stop falling out!!! It might be because i use to straighten it when i had mouse in it, but that was like 2 years ago.. helpp!!!

Another example: Before i dye my hair, my hair is so healthy and thick, but now after i dye my hair , my hair becoming disaster... my hair doesn't health like before! my hair loss LOT! i tried to try all kind of shampoo!

Another example, ? about her age:
"I recently decided to dye my hair. I didn't like the first color so I dyed it again a week later. Then I permed it 4 weeks later, now its really dry and brittle and falls out everywhere, it comes out in chucks when I comb it or even wash."

When it does that, it is too late to do anything about it. That's another reason why the hair industry is a billion dollar business, their main job is to make tons of money and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss, due to 'abuse'.

Google hair dyes & cancer spec. black hair dyes which is made from tar. Some people smoke & tan all their lives and do not get cancer. But there are 2nd hand & 3rd hand smoke who are now carrying their oxygen tank so they can breath or have cancer. Same with hair dyes. If you're not affected today, or next month, you may never be affected and you're one of the lucky ones. It doesn't take overnight, it takes years of hair experimentation with hair dyes.

Sugar, fries, fried vegetables, stevia, orange skin, aspartame, saccharin, meat, carrageenan, and many more. I'm doing my best to be healthy but I keep messing up. I eat a lot of sugar, high fructose corn syrup and gmo soy. I can't find foods to eat. I know fruits and vegetables but what if orange skin isn't the only thing that's carcinogenic. Why are there insects in food. I sometimes feel like there is nothing at all i can eat. I am vegan so I eat more veggies than most people. I was in the hospital last year and I'm terrified that I'll get cancer and need to go back. And there are those terrible statistics saying 1/3 of people will get cancer in there lifetime. I don't know what to do. I dye my hair but use only ppd and ppd derivatives free resorcinol free vegan cruelty free hair dye. I'm 13 so no one else my age seems to care about this. I just feel like I can't eat anything without something bad in it. I can't just eat fruits, veggies, nuts, and beans because at my age it's basically impossible to ever eat somewhere with friends like that. How can I avoid all of these foods
It's the dye on orange skins that's bad. And being in the hospital was a year ago due to a neck injury unrelated to my diet.

Answer
I am 60 years old and don't care about it either.

You know, worrying so much about this stuff isn't healthy either.

Is there any tips to make your hair grow faster?

Izzle

I've been wanting to grow my hair for two years now and I can't get it to grow any longer. I trim the split ends off and it still doesn't grow.
Is there any way to make it grow?

Answer
Hair typically grows 1/3 of an inch every month no matter what but if you take good care of your hair you can grow up to an inch a month.

I suggest taking hair, skin, and nail vitamins, available at any drug store or wal-mart. Things to look for are vitamin B complex, vitamin E, and biotin (vitamin b7). Eat healthy and get plenty of protein and dark green vegetables. Hair is mainly composed of protein. Eggs contain a ton of protein. Also foods containing "gelatin" are good for your hair such as yogurt and jello. Google "hair growth foods" for ideas. Also try daily scalp massages using your fingertips to stimulate hair growth, it gets blood flowing in your scalp and feels great. Avoid frying your hair at all costs. Get plenty of sleep and excercise, especially cardiovascular excercises like running. Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and stress.

A good conditioner is also important. Sunsilk is amazing and cheap, the kind I am currently using contains jojoba oil wich is AMAZING. Any sunsilk product is amazing and cheap.

If you have fried hair, do not dye it anymore and try hot oil treatments, and do not use shampoo every day. I leave contitioner in for about 5 minutes before washing it out to keep mine looking healthy. If you have split ends get them trimmed to avoid it getting worse.

I'm using Cetaphil Dermacontrol foam wash at the moment and it seems as though my acne has gotten worse. I was using Cetaphil daily face wash and that worked well for awhile, but I was told to switch due to breaking out. I'm also using a neutrogena face mask that I like, I just don't know if there's better. As well as a clean and clear moisturizer, but I only use that when my face is dry. I've been using these items for about three months now, no improvement with the acne. It's leaving behind scars even if they're not touched. So I'm looking for a whole line of skin care, face wash, mask, scrub, and moisturizer. Any suggestions?

Answer
Try N07 oily foaming wash, and also the N07 oily exfoliator.
Also try the N07 facial brush, its great for getting into the skin and giving those spots a really good scrub.
If you're in the UK you can find the products in Boots, if you're in the states I belive you can buy them online or in Target.
Also if you wear foundation try the N07 Beautifully Matte foundation as its got some acid in it that helps prevents spots. Their range is fantastic!

What's the best skin care regime for a 26 yr old female with problem skin?

I'm 26 years old and still have problem skin. Mostly older scarring and occasional break outs. What's the best affordable skin care line? Currently I mix up neutrogena face wash with proactive and I'm diligent about lotion with SPF 25. Any tips to keep my skin fresh and healthy?

Answer
Use natural ingrediants to make your own skin care items.

Do a face mask twice a week:

1 tsp Matcha Powder (Its basically green tea powder)
1 egg
2 tsp Lemon Juice
1 Tbsp Honey

Apply on face, leave on for 15 minutes, rinse with luke warm water. This helps with acne scars, oily skin that cause breakouts, and keeps skin feeling healthy and fresh. And insanely affordable too.

And drink LOTS of water.

She's tried scrubs for blackheads, three-step skin care (cleanser, toner, oil-free moisturizer) from the department store, extraction, masks, pore strips... nothing seems to help. It's especially noticeable on her nose.

Answer
Do see a dermatologist to remove blackheads. They have the tools and the knowâhow to safely remove blackheads without causing scarring or infection. If you have just a few blackheads, use a comedone extractor, available at a beauty supply store. It's best to remove blackheads after a warm shower or bath, when your skin is soft. And always disinfect any tools with rubbing alcohol before you use them on your face.

Don't pick at dark skin. Picking can leave dark spots on the skin that can take a while to fade away. It can also cause keloid scars.

Do wash your pillowcase every night and always use clean face towels if you have acneâprone skin. Dirty towels and pillowcases can harbor bacteria and germs that can make acne worse.

Don't pick, pop, squeeze, or otherwise mess with your skin. Squeezing blemishes or whiteheads can lead to infection or scarring. It almost always makes the acne you have worse. You should never tangle with a whitehead as they'll go away on their own in a few days anyway. If you have a pimple with a yellow, pusâfilled center and you must pop it,
see How to Pop A Pimple â (On the same page)

⢠Gently wash the face twice daily with mild soap and pat dry. Do not scrub.Scrubbing irritates the skin
⢠Use "noncomedogenic" cosmetics and toiletries.
⢠Avoid things that aggravate acne such as grease or oils.
⢠Allow acne products enough time to work. With some treatments, it may take as long as 8 weeks for a show improvement.
⢠Some acne products increase the skinsâ sensitivity to sunlight. Use protective clothing and sunscreen.â

Large Pores
The first step is to keep the area clean. Daily cleansing and toning are a must. A clay mask once a week will also help to deeply cleanse and tighten the skin (use the time to "think" your pores smaller)!

The good news is skin-care companies are getting the message. http://magazines.ivillage.com/redbook/experts/expert/qas/0,,284485_293192,00.html

There are a few other ways to reduce the appearance of your pores. We recommend that youâ¦
- Eat plenty of fresh fish, vegetables and fruit â especially berries and melon.
- Reduce the amount of processed foods in your diet. Choose âgood fatsâ like avocado over saturated fats.
- Swap your usual moisturiser for one specifically designed for minimising the appearance of pores. Iâve been using Neutrogenaâs Pore Refining Cream for 3 months and the large pores around my nose have definitely become less noticeable.â

Products and Treatments:
Retin-A (tretinoin, a form of vitamin A) or alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic)This helps to unblock pores and decrease the formation of blackheads (comedones) and spots. http://skin-care.health-cares.net/blackheads.php

âHere are ways to loosen the blackheads:
1. Steaming the Pores
Steaming can be done as often as twice a week but for no longer than 10 minutes at a time. This is a great way to clean out pores and loosen blackheads.
2. Combine 1/4 cup boiling water with one teaspoon of Epsom salt and three drops of iodine.
Let mixture cool until it's comfortable to the touch.Saturate a cotton ball with this mixture and dab on blackheads. This will allow them to loosen so they can be easily squeezed with a gauze pad.
3. Combine equal parts baking soda and water in your hand and rub gently on your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse with warm water.â

Professional Treatments:
âIf the acne does not respond to home and over-the-counter treatments after two months, it is a good idea to see a dermatologist before the condition produces scarring and/or takes an emotional toll.Dermatologists have numerous prescription medications and procedures available.
·Retinoic acids.Available as creams and lotions, these vitamin A acids can help unblock pores and reduce the skin's bacteria.
·Topical antibacterials or antibiotics. These creams and lotions can help reduce acne nflammation and skin bacteria.
·Oral antibiotics.Though not usually the first course of treatment, oral antibiotics such as tetracycline are often used to help reduce the inflammation of acne.
·Birth control pills.Women who use oral contraceptives may notice that their acne improves significantly. In fact, the FDA has approved one birth control pill specifically for acne treatment.
·Isotretinoin. For severe acne that does not respond to other treatments, your dermatologist may prescribe isotretinoin. This medication must be used with care, however, since it can cause birth defects.
·Surgery. It is never a good idea to remove blackheads or whiteheads (both called comedones) or pimples on your own. A dermatologist has the proper equipment to extract them without leaving scars.â

How long will it take to become a dermatologist?

tootoocute

Well, i want to become a dermatologist in skin care or hair. Right now, i'm only 14 years old but i'm trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. I want to have children when i'm older and get married and everything but when i calculate the amount of years, I will be between age 28 and 30 before i actually start getting the real checks! Does somebody know the real amount of time it takes to become a dermatologist because i've been finding so many different answers. Please, somebody help me. :x

Answer
Well there is different roads that can take you to becoming a dermatologist, however the standard one is...
4 years undergrad degree
4 year MD or DO degree
1 year internship
3-4 years Derm residency
Total: 12-13 year after high school
However this road can be shortened by different programs (look at early admission pathways) or finishing college faster than 4 years. Dermatology is one of the hardest areas of medicine to get into so make sure you learn how to study effectively now because in college and medical school you will need to compete.

Q. I want my 45 year old husband to start a skin care regimen so that his skin becomes nice looking and vibrant. Will my women's products work on a man's skin?
Shelby, actually my husband likes the smell of my products because he told me that its like smelling my body all day while he is at work and he likes that. Hes ok with my girly smell..

Answer
Yes they will work similarly, everyones skin is different though so remember that.
Men dont like anything that smells "girly" so i reccomend Burts Bees because it smells more earthy rather than girly.

Moisturizer (day time upon waking)

Cleanser (Night time, before bed, to cleanse face or dirt and excess oil collected over the course of the day)

What is an effective way to get rid of pimples?

natural ways would be much appreciated, or a skin care regimen that's worked for you in clearing up skin - I'm combination skin by the way (: Thanks in advanced â¥

Answer
NOTEâ¦I HAVE WRITTEN THIS LONG ANSWER TO RESPOND TO QUESTIONS RELATING TO BECAUSE THEY COME UP SO OFTEN:

OILY SKIN
ACNE
FACIAL LIGHTENING
DEALING WITH ACNE SCARRING
DEALING WITH STRETCH MARKS
IMPROVING SKIN TONE
PIMPLES
BLACKHEADS
EMERGENCY SPOT TREATMENT
INGROWING HAIRS
BODY ACNE

â¦THE INFOâS BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE. IâM 36 NOW SO IâVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES FOR QUITE A WHILE AND THOUGH MUCH OF THIS ANSWER MAY BE IRRELEVANT, I HOPE THERE'LL BE SOMETHING THAT CAN HELP YOU!

GOOD LUCK!!!

RECOMMENDED SKIN CAREâ¦I use clean and clear cream wash (good for sensitive skin or those that dry to easy) or Neutrogena clear skin make up remover wash. Both contain salicylic acid which prevents breakouts and gradually evens the skin tone out too. This is the most important thing you can do. Iâve tried various âoil freeâ/âsalicylic acidâ moisturisers but the best Iâve found is the clean and clear onâ¦I found the Neutrogena one actually seemed to aggravate my skin.

EMERGENCY SPOT TREATMENT!...The toothpaste things works! Put on a blob at night and put a bit of tissue over it so it doesn't make a mess. It cools the area down and reduces the inflammation. I also recommend the clean and clear advantage spot treatment gel.

HORMONAL SPOTSâ¦Any female with spots I'd recommend trying dianette or yasmine contraceptive pills because if it's hormonal that can sort everything out within weeksâ¦though it can take a couple of months to get used to the pill.

FACIAL ACNE: AVOIDâ¦Don't use harsh scrubs and peroxide products daily like some people do; that can dry your skin and make produce MORE oil...just exacerbating the problem. Many face packs Iâve tried and those blackhead removal strips too seem to have caused problems.

Iâve also had problems with those âfacial wipesâ made by clean and clear and Neutrogena because theyâre too drying and when the top layerâs too dry, the oil gets stuck underneath and causes more problems!

Some say chocolate doesnât affect itâ¦it does for me and I donât know how or why that should be but certain foods do seem to affect break out. Coffee is one of those things that seems to aggravate my skin too. So look out for anything you eat that might be making it worse.

HAIR PRODUCTSâ¦Be careful what products you use in your hair if it's long - certain conditioners have causes me to break out at times. Also be careful of hair gels, hair sprays and serums.

INGROWING HAIRSâ¦For men or womenâ¦if you have oily skin, these are more likely. For menâ¦use a facial scrub and avoid moisturisers that donât have salicylic acid in them if you use a moisturiser. Some hair conditioners are much better lubricants than shaving cream too â so you might want to try that, and then was afterwards with a clean and clear was etc. Also I recommend the microdermabrasion kit mentioned later.

For womenâ¦waxing seems to cause the main problem â we pay most attention to our faces. Waxing seems to be the main culprit as opposed to shaving or hair removal creamsâ¦to avoid in-growing hairs, make sure to exfoliate. I recommend using those exfoliating gloves â that way, you can use any kind of shower gel.

NUTRITIONâ¦I recommend taking a 100% multi vitamin/mineral complex â those little spots you get around your mouth can be due to a vitamin b deficiency for example. Also I recommend Omega 369 oils every day because they improve blood flow.

OLD WIVES TALE??...It's an 'old wives tale' type remedy - but a spoonful of cider vinegar and honey in hot water 3 times a day is meant to help EVERYTHING. It tastes nice too...kinda like honey and lemon X

HYDRATIONâ¦.Keep your hydration right by drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffeine and alcohol and too much salt!

DEALING WITH SCARRINGâ¦thereâs an excellent micro-dermabrasion scrub called âre-finishâ by L'oreal. You only use it a couple of times a week (and use at night because it makes your face red!). It really works not just with the colouring but also the texture - smoothes it back out. It comes with it's own moisturiser which I don't use but I use the scrub at night a couple of times a week and put bio oil on which it supposed to help clear scarring and even skin tone.

If you get your skin relatively under control, try using '21 days Fade Cream' (which I get from eBay) because it quickly clears up any scarring. Itâs a skin lightening cream and is very effective as long as your skin type agrees with it. Bio oil is a good alternative!

Also, to detract from the colour variations in your skin tone, I recommend using Benefitâs Posie Tint or Benetint lipstain â this can be put on your cheeks and lips (which also makes your teeth look whiter as an added bonus). Lipstain is better than lipstick because it doesnât smudge and it stays on; you can put lip balm or lip gloss on over it. Also, if you use it (SPARINGLY) on your cheeks, it is just like putting water on there; it doesnât aggravate the skin or cause breakouts.

How to clear up my skin?

Jacob

I am 16, Male, and my skin is really spotty/oily. I use all different kinds of face-wash but my skin had hundres of blackheads and loads of spots. I just want smooth skin. Are there any tips you can give me to clear out my pores and make my skin nice? I'd really appreciate it, thank-you.

Answer
Regardless of sex, melanin content, age, gender, weather, mood, time, or location of acne breakouts, the treatment protocol for acne is the same.

A combination of factors including propionibacterium acnes, sebum, and irregular shedding of dead skin cells contribute to the onset of acne lesions. Bacteria feed off sebum, which produce inflammatory by-products. Sebum and dead skin cells stick together and form clogs.

When it comes to selecting your cosmetic or skin care products, you should base your selection primarily on your SKIN TYPE. There are 16 different skin types! If you are unsure of your complete skin type, then take the questionnaire developed by world-renown clinical researcher, board-certified dermatologist, and author of the book, âThe Skin Type Solutionâ, Dr. Leslie Baumann. Register first then take the quiz. Afterward, visit the specified forum that is tailored to your unique Baumann skin type for product recommendations and discussions about your skin concerns, in particular, acne.

In order to TREAT and CONTROL acne, you will need well-designed routine:

1)A well-formulated water-soluble cleanser to remove oil, dirt, dead skin cells, and makeup.
2)A well-formulated, pH-adjusted, beta-hydroxy acid exfoliant with salicylic acid in 1-2% concentration to reduce inflammation, kill bacteria, and exfoliate on top of skin and within the pore lining to unclog any plug. If you are allergic to salicylic acid (or aspirin), then your alternative can be an alpha-hydroxy acid such as glycolic acid or mandelic acid.
3)A well-formulated benzoyl peroxide medication in 2.5-10% concentration to kill acne bacteria. The lower the concentration the lower the risk of side effects including dryness, peeling, redness, stinging, etc.
4)A well-formulated, matte-finish, and lightweight sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater to protect your skin from UV-inflammation, which can exacerbate acne, as well as prevent skin cancer. It is imperative to reapply after swimming, excessive perspiration, or every 2 hours for optimal photoprotection, especially in the sun.

NOTE: a well-formulated product usually contains low fragrance or is free of fragrance and dyes.

Results can take up to a few weeks to 1-2 months with diligence, compliance, and patience. If this conservative routine is ineffective, then you should consult with a board-certified dermatologist for a topical prescription and/or in-office light/laser therapies. The last resort for acne is isotretinoin (formerly known as Accutane).

How do i get my skin lighter?

MasterT

When i was a baby and when i was a child my skin was light. Now people are calling me dark wherever i go. I'm not insanely dark im just dark. I need something very effective to lighten my skin. I don't want any lame answers. PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ help me.

Answer
There are a few effective drugstore and online options. But, to really even out your skin tone, you need combination approach to skin care. The key treatment products are exfoliant and skin-lightener while sunscreen helps prevent future darkening. Exfoliant sheds the dead pigmented skin off quicker while the skin-lightener inhibits the production of melanin.

First and foremost, you need to know your skin type. You select skin care products based on skin type, not age, sex, skin color, weather, etc. If you are unsure of you complete skin type, then take the questionnaire developed by world renowned board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Leslie Baumann. Register first then take the quiz. Afterward, visit the specified forum that is tailored to your unique skin type for product recommendations and discussions pertaining to your skin issues.

Since you are probably still in puberty, I will assume that you have oily/combination skin type. Here are my list of affordable product recommendations: NOTE: most of them you can find at your local drugstore.

Cleanser - Olay Foaming Face Wash, Sensitive | Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin | Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser | Boots Expert Anti-Blemish Cleansing Foam

Exfoliant - Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Triple-Action Toner (if you are sensitive to alcoohol, then avoid this one) | Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment | Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion

Skin Lightener - Hydroquinone is the GOLD-STANDARD for treating hyperpigmentation. It is safe and effective. Do not use with BP at the same time because it can cause stain albeit you can wash it off. Try Ambi Fade Cream, Oily | Skin Effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover Flawless Effects Advanced Brightening Complex | Paula's Choice RESIST Clearly Remarkable Skin Lightening Gel. The Paula's Choice product includes an exfoliant, so there is no need to buy a separate one if you decides to go with Paula's Choice.

Sunscreen - If you do not want more hyperpigmentation, you need to wear sunscreen. It also significantly reduce your skin of skin cancer. Yes, dark skin people are not exempt! Try Neutrogena Dry-Touch Sunblock Lotion SPF 30/45/55 | Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion SPF 55 | Coppertone Sport Lotion SPF 15/30/50.

Results may take at least 1-2 months. Do not expect miracles. You should see "some" improvement, then, as you continually follow the regimen, you will get full results. How fast you get the results depend on the severity of your condition and how diligent and compliant you are with the program.

What are online personal shopping services? What are the online personal shoppers and how such services work through Internet? I'm interested to know any good online personal shopper services which could assist me hard to find shopping items...

Answer
Personal Shoppers provide product advice, fulfilling shopping requirements faster. Many retail stores have personal shoppers who are restricted by their own products. But through an online personal shopping service, every product on the web becomes an option.

For example: I'm suddenly told that work is sending me to Amsterdam for a month, maybe two. I'd like to take the family, but we'd have to go in two days' time. I can't afford a hotel for the four of us, but renting a furnished house should be ok. How can I find a property and close the deal in 48 hours when I don't know anybody in Amsterdam and I'm busy with preparations for going, here in Poughkeepsie? Personally I can't, but my online personal shopping service can!

How does a personal shopping service (e.g.
http://www.savefinder.com ) work? Simple:

You turn on the internet
You choose http://www.savefinder.com
You post a question (such as the above) for $10.00
Within 24 to 48 hours you get an answer to your question
You pick up the phone and start dealing to rent a furnished house or you browse the links provided by your personal shopper and place an online order
So you spend a small amount of money and very little time to get answers for your questions.

You may be wondering: how good are the answers you get from the Savefinder Personal Shopping Service (or any other online personal shopping service)? Who are the online Personal Shoppers? Given the increasing threat of internet fraud and identity theft, is it safe to answer any questions they might want to ask? How do you know what the right price should be for any question?

These questions and more can be answered by reading the Savefinder Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policies and FAQs sections.

Usually a customer can get answer in 24 hours for the following categories of questions from such online services:

1. Antiques
2. Art
3. Books
4. Business & Industrial
5. Cameras & Photo
6. Cars, Parts & Other Vehicles
7. Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
8. Coins
9. Collectibles

11. Consumer Electronics
12. Crafts
13. Dolls & Bears
14. DVDs & Movies
15. Entertainment Memorabilia
16. Gift Certificates
17. Health & Beauty
18. Home & Garden

Any online shop where i can purchase cosmetics?

Janne kriz

Im from the philippines and i really want to purchase cosmetics from other countries online but i dont have a paypal acct. What do you suggest I do?

Answer
I also suggest when paying for online purchases, don't use Paypal, it takes just once to be a victim. I was and it took 3 years to get my credit. Use your Credit Card, always, they can help you if any disputes.
AND beware of international shipping, they could add 3-25% extra fees, even if the price is cheap.

FYI: Many beauty & hair products now have LABEL INGREDIENTS and DISCLAIMERS, specially makeup, they are required to put labels so consumers are aware to watch for chemicals: DBP, TITANIUM, MERCURY, HYDROQUINONE, formaldehyde or Toluene solvent, that causes cancer or harm us. In other words, less is MORE.

Pencils & powder are your best choice, and makeup don't come cheap.

Women in the study with highest concentrations of these chemicals, called phthalates, in their bodies were more likely to have diabetes than women with lowest concentrations, the researchers said.
Phthalates are found in a variety of products, including nail polish, hair sprays, soaps and shampoos. The findings suggest that phthalates could disrupt blood sugar metabolism, said study researcher Tamarra James-Todd, of Brigham and Women's Hospital's Division of Women's Health.

Phthalates are present in certain medications and medical devices, and its possible women with diabetes have higher phthalate concentrations in their bodies due to the use of these medications or devices, James-Todd said.
James-Todd and colleagues analyzed information from 2,350 women ages 20 to 80 who took part in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 2001 and 2008. As part of the survey, participants underwent physical exams and provided urine samples.

Reporting Bad Reactions From Cosmetics
COSMETICS - UNAPPROVED no ingredient labels:
One color additive of particular concern is kohl. Also known as al-kahl, kajal, or surma, kohl is used in some parts of the world to enhance the appearance of the eyes, but is unapproved for cosmetic use in the United States. Kohl consists of salts of heavy metals, such as antimony and lead. It may be tempting to think that because kohl has been used traditionally as an eye cosmetic in some parts of the world, it must be safe. However, there have been reports linking the use of kohl to lead poisoning in children.*
Lead on Lipstick: According to a 2009 study conducted by the FDA, every one of 22 lipstick samples tested contained lead, ranging from 0.9 ppm to 3.06 ppm. Though the amounts are small, they can have a big impact on the long-term health of women who apply lipstick every day (and sometimes multiple times per day). The agency's weak regulations for cosmetics allow up to 20 ppm lead in cosmetic colorants, but that doesn't account for other potential sources. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetic has found that lead can be a contaminant of petroleum-based ingredients or of minerals, such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Lead and eight other metals are found in lipsticks and lip glosses commonly sold in the United States, some at levels that could raise potential health concerns, according to a new report.
Researchers measured levels of cadmium, chromium, titanium and other metals in 32 lip products purchased from drugstores and department stores in California.
They detected lead in 75 percent of the products, according to the report. Half of the samples contained lead at concentrations higher than the maximum allowed by the Food and Drug Administration in candy likely to be consumed by small children, the researchers said. 5-2-13

I am writing a one paragraph essay on a what I think this quote means. The quote is âHow can you buy or sell the sky, the warmth of the land?...ââChief Seattle, 1854
I feel like its saying why give up the beauty and the health earth for money and power. By the name of the quote I think it's a male and he's native american.

Answer
i am native and raised in the culture. i will dispel the rumor that we worship the earth or the sun or any other part of creation. we did and still do not worship anything. our beliefs are varied but rarely relate to any religion that is considered mainstream.

the quote means simply this...how does a person who is dependent on the earth and the rest of creation for your very survival consider yourself superior to that creation? it is foolish, right? we see ourselves as part of creation, not above it and not below it but very dependent on it. so how can you sell that which you depend on? only foolish people think they are separate and above the rest of nature.

Is there a quote from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley where Dr. Frankenstein regrets making the Monster?

halogirl95

I'm looking for a quote from the book where Dr. Frankenstein regrets making the monster. I know there is a place in it, but I have tried several times with no success. The more obvious the better, but I'm not too picky. Please offer some suggestions with at least a chapter or a page number so that I can find it in the book. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Is this the quote you're looking for ?
It's found in Chapter 5

"For this I had deprived myself of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart."

Anyone know of a good hair dye kit that I could buy? I am a black female. Also what color would look good?

Answer
I do not recommend them. Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies, specially if you've got thin, thinning hair, trying to grow hair or Afri-Amer.
Your hair is the most fragile of all hair types. They snap & break easily. So you need more TLCs than thin hair. No chemicals. No relaxers specially! No heating styling tools. Finger comb is best or use a wide tooth comb. Do what Oprah & Michelle Obama have been, going natural, using plastic curlers to set their hair. Use oil or conditioner to keep them moisturized. Heat & chemicals are your hair's worst enemies.

The hair of many black women is very fragile and studies have demonstrated that normal brushing and combing the hair can result in breakage. Brushing your hair 100-times a day is a no-no for your hair. Only comb and brush your hair to style it. Also avoid rubber bands or other implements that can physically cut into and break the hair shaft.

Google: Hair Styling and Hair Care NOT THE SAME. 4-8-13.
She talks exactly like I preach! She's got good natural hair savvy!

Michael âRahniâ Flowers, who served as Obamaâs hairstylist in Chicago for more than 20 years, knows full well the importance great hair plays in a womanâs lifeâand so does Michelle, he says. âSheâs always taken very good care of her hair,â Flowers explains. âHaving beautiful hair is such a sign of health and attractiveness, particularly for black women, because their hair tends to be very fragile, and it needs extra care. Having it look good at all times is an amazing feat in itself. âSheâs never been the kind of woman that obsessed over hair and makeup too much.â
"For many black women, the idea of wearing their hair naturally is unbearableâ, said: Award winning and author of âHalf of a Yellow Sunâ, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, newest novel âAmericanahâ that includes the detail descriptions of black women having their hair done and also to give a brief description of her own hair.

London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

How much would a dye job cost on average?

Q. I have a pixie cut(see Vanessa Hudgens pixie cut for a better idea) and I finally convinced my mom to let me color my hair. It was pretty easy since my dad doesn't care what I do with my hair. So anyway, I want to dye it a brownish black(again see Vanessa) with subtle lighter brown highlights. On average how much would it cost at a salon? I want to pay for it myself so I need an idea of how much to save up. Thanks lovelies Godbless:)

Answer
My SIL pays $45 for hers.

Long to your shoulder to Pixie, don't matter, they use 1 box of hair dye anyway, or mix colors in.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

If you have a pimple with a yellow, pusâfilled center and you must pop it,
see How to Pop A Pimple â (On the same page)
http://www.teenmag.com/aboutyou/beauty/articles/0,,639404_643054,00.html

⢠Gently wash the face twice daily with mild soap and pat dry. Do not scrub.Scrubbing irritates the skin
⢠Use "noncomedogenic" cosmetics and toiletries.
⢠Avoid things that aggravate acne such as grease or oils.
⢠Allow acne products enough time to work. With some treatments, it may take as long as 8 weeks for a show improvement.
⢠Some acne products increase the skinsâ sensitivity to sunlight. Use protective clothing and sunscreen.â

This site goes on to recommend many of the products I have posted further along in the answer.

It may take six to eight weeks before definite beneficial effects on the skin can be seen.â http://www.tiscali.co.uk/lifestyle/healthfitness/health_advice/netdoctor/archive/100002258.html
http://www.nreagan.com/merchant/education/answers_and_advice/skincare/

Glycolic creams are very highly recommended for blackheads removal. It helps in skin peeling, effectively unclogging the pores and smoothening the skin surface.â

When looking for an product containing AHA, keep in mind that it may go by the following names(see the link).
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-aha.html

Some AHA products:

Other products
âBenzoyl Peroxide, Resorcinol, Sulfur, Azelaic Acid, Alcohol, and Acetic acid are some of the treatments discussed on this site. Prescription remedies are covered as well.â

I recommend you visit a good dermatologist who can prescribe the correct therapy for you. Your doctor may recommend oral antibiotics for a time, or even birth control pills, to be taken along with a topical treatment.
http://www.continuingeducation.com/pharmtech/acne/acne.pdf

âAcne treatments work by reducing oil production, speeding up skin cell turnover, fighting bacterial infection or a combination of all three. http://www.continuingeducation.com/pharmtech/acne/acne.pdf

http://skin-care.health-cares.net/blackheads.php

âHere are ways to loosen the blackheads:

Do I have BDD? I Really NEED to know...help!?

Q. If you don't know what that is go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorder

I've always hated the way i look. I always ask people if i look okay not to fish for compliments but because im ALWAYS worried about my appearance.

I hate my hair, my bangs are too short, i'm chubbyish, i have such a round face, i'm too tall, my arms are flabby, i wear braces, and so much more.

And I know that sounds like any other teenager, but I become depressed almost everyday because I think that I would never look good enough for the world. I know that sounds stupid, but no matter what I do I ALWAYS feel like that.

Every morning I cry when I look in the mirror. At times I've hated my life because of the way I looked...

Do I have BDD? Or just REALLY low self esteem?

Answer
See*. Body Dysmorphic Disorder: Only use a small hand mirror to check appearance, so just a small part of the body may be seen at a time, yet anything wrong will still be immediately apparent; cover (taping over/painting) full length mirrors. Check out http://www.bddcentral/mainpage2.aspx and http://www.ocdla.com/bodydysmorphicdisor... and www.mental-health-abc.com and http://www.psychforums.com/viewforum.php and http://p066.ezboard.com/bbodydysmorphicd... and http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/bodydysmorphia1.shtml and http://bddvictims.lefora.com/headlines/
Other things worth trying: See self esteem/confidence, in sections 38 & 47, and practise daily, and when needed, one of the relaxation techniques in sections 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Give the EFT, in section 53, a good tryout: "Even though I have a distorted body image, I accept myself deeply and completely".

All of these things are designed to bolster the central sense of identity, enable emotional centering, and changing the focus from that of a person's appearance, to helping others. A TECHNIQUE FOR REPROGRAMMING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS: (ALSO SEE PAGE L, IN SECTION 2). When you notice something negative, such as: "I'm never going to get over this!" or: "Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser?" or even: "I can't do this/will never get over this!", or a disturbing image, recognise that this is part of the mindset which will hold you back from progress. Having identified and labelled it, visualise a large red "STOP!" sign, and/or possibly a stern faced person wagging an index finger at you in a negative manner, then say to yourself as forcefully as you can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: "I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!"

You may want to use either: "ruse", "ploy", "game", or "trick", instead of "tactic". In the case of an image, visualise a large "STOP" sign, or your preferred version. Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary. Remember to remove it, afterwards, if you use this method. It may well be worthwhile going to the Groups, at Myspace, Google, and Yahoo, to find others with the disorder, and see what has worked for them.

Use the WebFerret search engine, your own, the Wikipedia, and Google websites, and Yahoo websearch on BDD. View: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/board/about... and *take the quiz at http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2... Print the result; take to a doctor, and ask for an appropriate referral. If you are one of the 40% of people who are fairly suggestible, you may wish to consider professional hypnotherapy, or: Body Dysmorphia from: www.hypnosisdownloads.com & Feel Attractive Now &
Overcome Insecurity &
Stop Negative Thoughts & Self Acceptance & Care Less What Others Think, OR www.instant-hypnosis.com has: Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Weight loss methods are shown in section 56, at ezy build. Going to a gym woluld help with the arms, (and chubbyness) and there are hairstyles which suit your facial structure; try the Y!A section on skin & beauty. There are braces which you only wear at night.
