How can I build towards my marriage and let go of my past?

Labels:

Sincerely

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have a 1 year old son from a guy who, abandoned us after I wouldn't abort. And I have supported my child alone since. I met this wonderful guy when I was still 7 months pregnant with my son---and him and I have dated for over a year. We're now engaged and expecting a child together. He is a GREAT GUY. Always attentive, supportive, loving---yet I am still harboring a lot of anger and pain from my son's father. I know I need to move on, but it is hard. My son's father got another girl pregnant, 3 months after me so my son has a half-sister and I recently saw her picture for the first time and she is a splitting image of him. This is hurtful only because after my son was born and even before---the father constantly harassed me about not thinking the baby was his. And because I am a fair-skin lady, my son is very fair skin (like me) and his father is brown skin. I feel like, he rejected his son based on how much more his daughter favored him in comparison and I have always secretly believed, he is taking care of his daughter and was in a romantic relationship with the mother of his daughter. That is very hurtful, because I feel like my son is trash to him. And it effects the way I am able to connect with my current boyfriend and this pregnancy. Any advice on how to actually HEAL from this, maybe I need counseling or to do some activities to rebuild my self-worth.

Answer
Acceptance is the key to most of life's problems. Once you accept your situation for what it is then you will begin to heal. You met a guy who obviously attracted you. The world is full of people who don't make since. There are many people out there who are complete A-holes. He sounds like one of these. Once you accept him for what he is, he certainly isn't someone who requires a ton of thought in my opinion, then you can let it go. He told you he didn't want your baby, painful but true. There is no reason to confuse yourself over this. Does the other woman have money or more to offer him? There is something there that he connects to or not - you don't know what his feelings are for this other person or baby. If she is getting support from him, she probably requested it through the court system. You can do this also. You can't make him be a descent person or make him have a relationship with your son but you can make him pay. If you have a loving man in your life now who loves your little boy, the best thing you can do for your son is to cherish this new man and have a family for your children to grow up in.

Is my Marriage ending? Can dealing with health issues lead to this?

Karen R.

I have been married 8 months now and its seems that everything is going down the drain. We have been together for 2 years since we were a couple. Everything was okay the whole time until we started to get our own place 4 months after our marriage. January of 2012 we started looking for an apartment that best suits our needs and by February we found what we both wanted. We have dedicated our extra time in fixing the apartment before we move in the following month. BOTTOM LINE IS WE BOTH GOT BUSY SO THERE NEVER WAS A TIME FOR GOING OUT AND THE LIKE. A week before moving in was the start of our marriage crisis. I discovered that I had vaginal discharge , went to the doctor , got a normal pap and found out that I had Chlamydia. He got himself checked and he was NEGATIVE. I found it very odd because it is obviously an STD. I did not cheat nor did he. So the following weeks we left the issue alone cause it might be a false negative or whatever. Then, 2 weeks or so he discovered a bump or 2 on his penis and got scared. He got himself checked and was assumed as a Genital wart - HPV, doctor prescribed Aldara. Since then it has been an issue that I gave him this virus which leaves me emotionally unstable for I dont know HOW and WHY I got such diseases. So clearly our relationship was cold. Early May, I left my job for my boss sexually harassed me. Got stressed out + the Health issues + Marital problems = Depression. On the other hand, he was seeing another doctor, doctor said it were' not warts and was just skin irritations that lead to something like that, that is is- if he is not HPV positive. The next day He then, also advised me to get myself checked again. Now, I had another normal pap test plus HPV test in the beginning of June and came back as me having LOW RISK HPV. I was shattered because I cannot find the answers of why and how i got it. I went to another doctor, gave me a lecture on HPV which I fully understood the problem now is how will I get him understand this? When all the blame is on me. Fact about HPV is that its so common and 80% of Women will come across it at some point of their lives. Divided into 2 types, LOW RISK and HIGH RISK. Low risk is NOT cancerous but those are the HPV Strands that cause Genital Warts. I, myself have no genital warts then he was told mistakenly diagnosed as having genital warts. So what now? I am so confused for I want nothing but to save this marriage. Ive never been a bad/cheating gf and wife to him. I have supported him in whatever what he wants to do with his life like his online schooling and joining marathons. When he lost his job last year, i always did things to keep him positive and etc etc. I took care of him well when he had his hand surgery. Although i have flosses , i admit i also have mistakes and I nag which i believe is a nature of a women. I am stuck in this situation that has no answers, Im emotionally battered, frustrated and confused. June 30th was my birthday, was all alone in the apartment on the eve of my b day -crying. He took me out for dinner and some drinks which I very much appreciated despite all of whats going on. The next day, he had a race and he has to wake up at 7am to warm himself up and etc for the 10am race. I did wake him up ( i was half a sleep , still kinda drunk, went back to bed) but he did not wake up. When i woke up I realized it was already 9am he rushed to get to the place but he missed his race. Again, the blame was on me. He came back home, packed his bags and said he's needs space. He left July 1 and is now July 11 and he's still not back. I honestly felt I was abandoned. I have been beside him during his tough times like last year. But now its me facing tough challenges but I am left alone. I have been very patient and understanding that he has a 7 yr old child which have no idea that i exist, his family doesn't know that were married except his brother. I understand his reasons but now these health problems?!!? I feel so invincible. I'm scared to talk about it with my family because I am embarrassed. That is why I am here right now, asking what would be your views or advice for me. What I have been doing right now is just fighting the fear and keeping myself busy, learning new stuff, going to job interviews and etc etc. But still by the end of the day, the issue crosses my mind. I miss him so much. I want to save this marriage. I really do. Its been very tough for me. Please give me some advice It would be great and I would very much appreciate it.

Answer
I'd have to question his honesty about the STD. If he can't tell his family about you then I'd have to wonder what the reason is for that too. Seems to be lies all around.
I feel for you, really. I had one of those false negatives which caused a lot of pain for both of us and then found out that he WAS cheating. In fact, he had another life in a foreign country.
You can't control how he thinks, what he does or how he feels but you can control how you think and feel. I see that there's health issues which tells me that you guys have a lot of negative emotions and thoughts. They've been going on for a long time. You need to change that around for yourself. You made yourself sick and now you can make yourself better.
It's a lot to explain on this venue so I'd love for you to learn how to get better by listening to someone on YouTube or reading their books. But, begin on YouTube and search Abraham-Hicks on The Law of Attraction, then Health and then Relationships. I really think it will help you to feel better and understand how this all happened.
Another book that may help is Relationship Stratagies, The E & P Attraction by John G. Kappas

What are some easy, effective, and inexpensive skin care routines?

Sophie P

I have very fair combination skin. My acne is not horrible but it is enough to agrivate me. I get it on my forehead, chin, next to my nose, and I get whiteheads on my cheeks and chin, and I get ALOT of blackheads on my nose.I have somewhat sensitive skin. My pores are not massive but they are visible. I don't have the money to buy expensive department store treatments or stuff like pro-active (which i hated), or skin- ID but it seems like drugstore products don't make any difference. Also my cheeks have uneven redness (NOT rosacea) that does not go away and that gets horrible and VERY red through out the day. And my skin is soft but very bumpy. My wish is to get skin that is so good that I don't have to wear makeup or at least only a little. Any help? please! I am desperate! I need all these problems to go away!?

Answer
OH my goodness! My skin is VERY similar to yours! WHOA!
Please read!!!!!!!!

Here's what I have:
*fair combination skin
*small acne problems on my forehead, nose, around my nose, and chin.
*whiteheads and blackheads on my nose.
*red cheek problem!!! not rosacea as well. had it for years.
*soft skin but its kinda bumpy on my cheeks and upper jawline.

I have a great routine now. My skin looks a lot better.

My Skin Care Routine.....
MORNING:
I usually wash my face with plain old Softsoap in the shower. Then I apply a small dot of clindamycin phosphate gel. It is a perscription gel for acne, but I'm fairly sure you can find a similar over-the-counter solution at Rite-Aid if you give them the name.

After I shower, I pull my hair away from my face in a headband and apply Clean & Clear Advantage Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer all over my face. A bit more on problem/acne spots. I use about 3 pumps. It was about $6.99 at Walmart. I've had it for well over 4 months --- it lasts! Gray and purple bottle!

***A note on makeup - DON'T slather on concealer. It does not help! I stopped using it and only apply Dream Matte Mousse foundation to problem spots and under my eyes. Cover up bad spots, but don't try to cover your rosacea with foundation. Remember that you can clog your pores with too much makeup! ***

NIGHTTIME:
I wash my face with about a chocolate-chip sized dollop of Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Cream Wash. It was about $6.79 at Walmart, in a white, pastel green, and orange tube/bottle thing. Amazingly, it does NOT sting my eyes when I rub some suds on my eyes to get rid of my mascara. It's very gentle and smells great.

I dry with a washcloth and apply Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 to pimples only. I am not sure how much the Persa-Gel was, but I'm assuming about $5.99. Its a little white tube; I think it comes in a box. Lastly, I apply the same Clean & Clear Moisturizer all over my face.

Before you go to bed, make sure your hair is pulled away from your face. And wash your pillowcases often to get rid of bacteria and oil from your face!!!!

My skin has really improved --- my acne calmed down and my red cheeks are not as prominent. I don't have to wear NEARLY as much makeup anymore.

Hope I helped!!!! Message me if you need any more help!

Beauty Care?

What treatments are there for hair loss in women?
Ask your doctor about minoxidil (the generic name for Rogaine.) This is over-the-counter and available in 2% and 5% concentrations. It's something of a nuisance to apply but it helps conserve hair and may even grow some. Propecia is a drug that helps men retain their hair but unfortunately has no use for women. Propecia is not safe for women of childbearing age and it just doesn't work for older women. This is unfortunate but, for the moment, this is the situation. Surgical procedures like hair transplants can be useful for some women as well as men to "fill in" thinned-out areas.

Oily skin solutions? Oily bangs solutions?

Labels:

hammy

What are good beauty products (foundation, facial wash, and moisturizer) for a very oily T-zone with dry cheeks? ><; I have bangs that get oily quickly as well, and shampoo suggestions are good also.

Answer
hi :)

I used to suffer from bad skin, but I now have clear skin, so I am going to try and help you. Please read for more info: :D

First off all, foundation is not good for your skin, as it stops your skin from being free and breathing properly. However, if you want to use some foundation I suggest you use, either L'Oreal Mineral Foundation or Chanel. L'Oreal Mineral Foundation is very good, because it contains minerals which your skin likes. My personal favourite is Chanel, because they have wonderful products and whenever I use their foundation it leaves my skin feeling fresh and glowing. It may be expensive but you pay for the quality. For the facial wash, I just wash my face everynight and every morning with warm water using a flannel. I don't like facial wash and I don't think they actually work. But if you want one choose one that is chemical free. Don't listen to these lies buy the products like neutrogean, because they don't work, they just say they do, because they want money. Your moisturer is the most important, because it works as a cleanser too. I suggest my two favourites, coconut oil and camolline. You can buy them at any health food store and everything they sell there is natural.

For the shampoo, I live in England and I don't know if they sell it in America, but I use J.A.S.O.N shampoo and their shampoo is completely natural and my favourite one is peach. It smells yummy and leaves your hair glowly and smooth. It's all natural so it doesn't harm your hair. I suggest any chemical free and natural shampoo.

Try this home remedy to help you out:

I always do this, especially in the summer when the sun is out - but you know in England, there's hardly any sun D: buy some lemons from the shop. Press them and get the fresh lemon juice - it doesn't matter if there are any bits or pips in them. Then just apply the lemon juice onto your face and scars. You can do this even if you don't have any scars, but just to help get rid of the acne. You apply it on your face and leave it for a few minutes. DON'T! add any water. Adding something to it, will kill off all the good bits, just leave it as it is. It will sting a bit, but it doesn't matter. If you want blonde highlights for your hair, sit in the sun for 30 minutes and apply the lemon juice all over your hair. Works like a treat and saves money to the hairdresser ;] so yeah, bascially apply it on your face

Good luck xoxo

whats it about

Answer
Ivillage, is a website that talks about Health, beauty and pregnancy...
women stuff, gives you tips and quizzes and stuff.. Good Luck!

I just decided... I want to start a Magazine. What should it be about? :p?

Max

So yeah, I'm bored so I just decided I want to try and start my own magazine...

What should it be "about" (fashion, culture, music, books, etc)

And any tips? :)
I'm really just looking for some inspiration.

And no, I don't have ANY previous experience in the field.
Sorry, Briget, but I kind of really hate the J-bros
Hmm, guys, I don't think I could compete with playboy and such, lol
Hamandi, music would be good, but I'm not into hiphop... It'd probably be goth-rock type music. :p
OMFG, ":)" you just gave me a GREAT idea...

There IS a goth magazine out there (gothicbeauty) but there aren't any TEEN-goth magazines... I could do a "non-conforming-teen" type one... But one that the "preppy" folks would enjoy too... (Especially since, thanks to twilight, 'goth' seems to be 'in' right now, lol)
Lightbulbsmile... I'd rather combat those effects than just nag about them... :)
Rosalia, I know that not everone likes "goth stuff" but there are almost no goth-friendly mags out there... it doesn't have to be directly geared towards goths, but I don't want it to be a "oh-mi-gawd" type mag either.

Answer
i would say start a teen magazine such a cosmogirl!
it just got discontinued, and i am very sad because it was awesome
i bet you would have many subscribers if you started one just like it
it has a combination of fashion, beauty, quizzes, health, love etc
in my opinion go for it!
i wish you good luck:)

So, that I can work somewhere as a skin care professional. I can't seem to find a school or how many hours I need to take to just get enough schooling to where I can get hired (not necessarily a degree in it). Where should I look? The beauty colleges all say that if you want to be a cosmetologist, you have to have 600 hours. But, I don't want to study hair and makeup and nails, just skin care.
Thank you! (please, no spam)
I'm just interested in microdermabrasion and chemical peels...how would I take classes in those two areas?

Answer
i didn't read all but there's no problem to take the class

Vitamin C skin care?

Lirin Z

I took a biology class and I learned that Vitamin C is water soluble.
So, it cannot cross cell membrane, which means you can't just apply it on skin because it wont work.
And there are so many vitamin C skin care, since it cant cross the cell membrane, doesn't it mean it wont work??
and why do stores still selling it?

Answer
You're right. You benefit from taking Vitamin C when you take it internally and it's metabolised.

As for skincare products, most of it's to do with marketing. You're an astute buyer but there aren't many of you.

From 8 years in pharmacy, the health of your skin is mainly determined by your genes (good skin seems to run in families) and other such things as the amount of collagen in your skin (again, to do with genes), hydration (keeping up your fluids), and limited sun exposure (sorry, surfers, but you don't usually have to-die-for skin!).

Please be sincere,Home made skin care is better than Organic skin care products like eminence or juice beauty?

Labels:

Tamara

It's better to use your own and creative ideas to prepare whatever fruits or veggies you have in hand to create masks, cleansers, creams and sun protection or it's better to go for the secure by purchasing somewhat expensive brands but with a guranteed that you'll get optimum results and product quality and variety?

Like Eminence Organics have a wide variety of products for eah need and also rare products that it'll be very difficult to find if you wanty to make your own home made products.

What do you think will be best for the skin?

Thank you!

Answer
Well, I like the fact that the major manufacturers have done the research already. Saves me messing up my kitchen 8-)

Personally, I like the tried & true basic 3 steps:
Cleanse, Tone, & Moisturize.

1. Cleanse twice a day. I buy Olay cleansing cloths in bulk from Costco. I use them 2 times a day. Once a week I replace it with a scrub (a little abrasive) or you could just add some sugar to the cleansing cloth for the same effect. ps, I also use a washcloth in the shower. It's sort-of an abrasive without the chemicals.

2. TONER!! Don't leave this step out. I use Mary Kay formula 2 toner. Most toners are simply alcohol with other basic ingredients. But, of course, not being a scientist, I don't know the amounts they use in conjunction with the other ingredients. But personally, I think toner is the most important step. It cleanses out the pores. Use it all over the face & neck.

3. Moisturize with a SPF 15 moisture. Use it oll over face & neck before putting on makeup. I use Olay Total Effects.

I have an extra secret item I use in my skin care regiment that I'll share with you. I really love this stuff. It's Alpha Hydroxy. Alpha Hydroxy is in a lot of beauty products at different strengths and varies in cost up to over $100.00. But I get it in, what I think is the best product on the market, for only $6.99 for 1.7 oz. What I buy is a product called "Alpha Hydrox, the Original." I get it at Bed, Bath & Beyond (they now have a beauty section) and it comes in a red box. I use a dot on my finger after the Toner has dried, then I use moisturizer after that. You won't believe how soft your skin is after just a few days. I also use it on my elbows and heels to keep them soft.

I'm in my 50s and people are always telling me they can't believe I'm a Grandmother.

Pick up a book called "How not to look old" by Charla Krupp. It's full of great beauty tips.

I have never been into the whole organic/green type products whatsoever. I have used Lancome and Chanel skin care since college. But I have to say that my friend's salon just started carrying that Eminence Line, and he gave me a few samples to try. The masks are really nice, and I tried a few cleansers. I would not switch, but I would definitely use a mask every now and then!

Celebrity skin care????

Little Mis

u no how celebrity skin is like flawless?? I know that they have makeup people but i was just wondering if you knew how they kept their skin so clear? Is there like a special face wash or something?

Answer
Well products they use include La Mer, Sisley, Z.Bigatti, SK-II, Euoko, Chantecaille , Cle de Peau Beaute La Prairie and all that. Celebrities, however, do more than just skincare products. They go to famous dermatologists and estheticians like Dr. Dennis Gross, Dr. Perricone, Ole Henriksen, Kate Somerville and all that. Plus they go to spas like the La Prairie Spa. But if you had to pick a "celebrity" acne control line, it would have to be Biologique Recherche. and its not Proactiv btw lol. They paid celebrities like Jessica Simpson to appear in their advertisements. Bottomline, their "flawless skin" comes from spa visits, famous dermatologists and estheticans, and top of the line skin care products. These products are extremely expensive btw. Like a container of La Prairie Platinum retails for $650. A facial cleanser from Sisley goes for $140. yes..very expensive.

Health Care Reform: Unconstitutional?

Labels:

Hatsune Mi

If the health care reform is demanding that all employers give employees health care, isn't that unconstitutional and socialist? You have to work to EARN things, not have it given to you. I'm only 14, so I may not have gotten this right, but my father is an employer and talks about how ridiculous it is. Frankly, I'm worried about my future. I want to know if Obama is screwing the country. People FOR Obama, no stupid, insulting remarks about my distaste for our president. Also, I don't know the rules, so if I said something I wasn't supposed to, PLEASE let me know.

Answer
Unconstitutionality, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, but the Supreme Court has the final word.
Compelling persons to purchase a commercial product is, in my opinion, unconstitutional, but I am not a lawyer. If the issue goes to SCOTUS, the decision will probably be a 5/4 split.

President Obama is, in my opinion, doing great harm and damage to the nation. He is 'screwing' you and your future children & grandchildren with his Socialist agenda.

You can't vote yet, but you can try to influence the progress of the issue. Visit my blog post "Flame Your Congressman", copy the link, and visit http://www.congress.org/ to send an email to the President, your Congressman & Senators. You don't need to know their names or district numbers, just your Zip Code. Insert that link into your email. Be sure to tell them, in your own words, what you told us.

When you take American Government and Economics classes, pay attention, do your homework and the extra credit reading. You should start by reading Mark Levin's book: "Liberty and Tyranny".

Hello everyone! It's not a question, but I just wanted to share it with you. There are 5 white tail mule deer across the street from my house. They were all gathered together, two does and 3 fawns. So cute. And on top of that they were all looking in my direction except for the little ones suckling and there were also doves on the fence. How lovely! And of course, no camera! LOL! Do you have fun beauties near you? Tell me your story! :)
Uh-oh Katydint. Did I break the rules? I did ask for all to tell their tales. Maybe I did not do it right today, but I will try to do better in the future. Thank you for sharing your links and thank you for your thoughts. :) I am sorry if I broke the rules, I will check that and not do it again.

Wow.
(that's so special I can't report you...)
I have a wonderful spider who sits on a large web just outside my patio door. I'm lovin' it.
I hear the sea lions barking at night (the cliffs are a mile away) & I can smell the salty sea air. Really late I can hear the bouy ding!
There are birds and scurrying lizards all over the property where I work, I thrill to see them each day.

Is human genetic engineering morally justified?

Kay-Pee

What is human genetics anyway? How effective is it? Is it good or bad? Why? What are its disadvantages and benefits? Why do people/ doctors/scientists do it?

Answer
Human genetic engineering is when someone alters the genetic structure of embryonic cells or vectors to provide them with desired traits or to eliminate undesirable traits. This is commonly known as "Designer babies" by many people because you literally get to decide what your baby will look like. You can choose its eye color, hair color, skin tone, muscular build, etc. More importantly, genetic engineering can also be used to improve a babies immune system, or make it more resistent to a wide variety of diseases and common family illnesses. Things that your families genetics would normally determine. Its been highly effective in animals but thats as far its gone so far. There is still far too much controversy surrounding the matter to alter a human embryo for the time being.
Whether or not its good or bad is just a matter of opinion. Its good or bad depending on a persons own beliefs and morals. Nothing more. If someone is very religious then they might have a problem with it because they would believe that we are doing the work of God. On the other hand if you want to ensure that your baby has the best possible chances for a healthy life and the best possible physical features you see fit then no its not a bad thing.
Thus far there havent been any disadvantages that Ive heard of but there are many advantages. People do it in order to give future generations the best shot at life that they could have, that being in the areas of health and beauty. And one of the main reasons people do this is because they can. Its another way to try and control nature. Something man has been trying to do for thousands of years.

Do you have any beauty tips? Or do you have a website to give all the kids health stuff and beauty tips?

That would be nice. I really need some.

The most tips get the best answer:)

Answer
here are some beautythat will enhance your features.
First off, let's start with your skin. Beginning to take care of your complexion now serves to develop habits that will last a lifetime. Here are a few tips to help you in preparing your canvas:
Always cleanse your skin to remove makeup and oils before going to sleep at night.
Use daily gentle scrubs and try weekly purifying masks help keep pores clear and skin fresh.
Teens don't need foundation - just dot on concealer to cover up any blemishes.
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen - protect your looks for the future.
Tinted bronzers add color without covering up your natural glow. Instead of baking in the sun use a bronzer to achieve that sun kissed look. Be sure to apply it where the sun would add its kiss - cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.
Powder or mineral makeup offers a way to brighten the skin without heavy foundation.
Blending is the key. After applying your powder and/or bronzer, go over the entire face with a foundation brush to smooth out your look.
They say your eyes are the windows to your soul. Here are a few tips to achieve that bright-eyed look without overdoing it:
Drinking water and eating right helps to keep your eyes clear and bright
If you have problems with redness, over-the-counter eye drop can really brighten the whites of your eyes.
Don't line the inside rim of your lower lash line - instead just use a pencil to create dots between the lashes, smudging gently for a more natural look.
*Lining the outside upper rim of your eyes with a liquid liner will open them up.
*One of the most eye opening effects many women neglect is curling your eyelashes. Do this first, before applying any eye makeup
*To brighten the whites of your eyes, use a white eyeliner pencil on the inside rim of your lower lashes.
*To determine the proper shape and length eyebrow, hold a pencil vertically alongside your nose so the point touches your eyebrow. That is where your eyebrow should begin. Tweeze the stray hairs from the starting point across the nose. The end point is found by angling the pencil room the nose past the outer corner of your eye. Remove stray hairs beyond that spot, as well as from below your natural arch.
*-Be careful when plucking your brows â over-plucked eyebrows look unnatural.
*An eyebrow pencil a shade or two lighter than your natural brows or a eyebrow powder used with a light hand can fill in sparse brows. Finish by using an eyebrow comb or a toothbrush to comb brows in the same direction for a finished look.
Neutral colors look good on both cool and warm complexions.
Many products include sunscreen which is a great way to keep your lips from becoming sunburned at the beach or pool.
If you have lips that are on the thin side, lip plumpers are a great way to increase your pout.
brands of lip gloss now have this built in along with color
Keep it fun. Experiment with new flavors and darker shades for evening or special occasions, but choose your focus. Never try to play up both eyes and lips at the same time.

nursing in skin care options help?

Labels:

Molly John

i am an esthetician. i would like to further my education and possibly pursue nursing (RN)...my fiance is in the military and we will be moving here and there and who knows where. what kind of jobs and pay are to be expected in any given random location for a nurse in a skin care center? i mean i already cant find work where i live as an esthetician!! obviously if i cant find work in a skin care center as a nurse then i can just go work in a hospital and/or on base, but i do have a passion for skin care!!

Answer
I worked at a dermatology clinic for a few years. I assisted in surgeries - most of them very minor, but some were not. The other nurse was assigned to do laser hair removal. It is extremely tedious.

You only work on a small area at the time. The procedure is quite painful. The laser gun that you have to use only burn off an area smaller than a dime. Imagine holding a gun and having to pull the trigger every few seconds for an hour. At the end of the procedure, your hand feels like it's going to fall off.

A dermatologist does not normally hire a new grad registered nurse. The procedures themselves are not without risks. if you're thinking about injecting Botox®, or other cosmetic procedures, you need to realize that only the physician is normally allowed to do that.

Even if it's done correctly, things can go wrong, and you really would not want to be responsible for it.

I kept in touch with the people I worked with and they told me that they've not been too busy. People just can't afford to get $100 microdermabrasion 2 to 3 times a month when they have bills to pay.

If you want to be a nurse you will have better chances of getting a decent job at the hospital taking care of sick patient instead of demanding patients who've you normally see on a daily basis. Those patients abuse their bodies by not taking care of them correctly for years and expect you to do miracle after one or 2 visits. It just doesn't work that way. No chemical peels is going to make them look like they're 20-year-old again.

To answer your question, this is what you'd do to become a nurse

http://www.rn.ca.gov/careers/steps.shtml

To verify what I have said - look at Craig's List in your city. See "dermatology" to see if they will hire a new grad RN.

What does a skin care specialist/Esthetician do??

Jess!

Where can you take a liscense for skin care?? What do you do?? Is it like a dermatologist?? I'm so confused!!

Answer
A Dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diseases of the dermis (skin and subcutaneous tissue.)

A skin care specialist is someone with training in superficial skin care - they do not have the education or authority to diagnose or treat skin diseases (skin cancer, psoriasis, excema, moles, etc.) They are Estheticians only. Esthetics means appearance. An Esthetician is a specialist in making your external skin LOOK good. They are trained to assess skin conditioning, elasticity, pore size, etc, and provide non medical treatment to correct skin irregularities - facials, etc.

What are some mandatory skin care products?

Labels:

m.lh

I need to know what I need in my makeup bag for my face, lips, neck and eye skin. What are some products that I need the MOST? Please list them, thank you! (:

Answer
Well, are you talking skin care or makeup? Because your added details would suggest you are talking about makeup.

As for skin care, these are the essentials:
1) Gentle cleanser. If you have sensitive skin in any way, avoid lathering/foaming cleansers. If you can, look for milk or cream cleansers free of surfactants (lathering agents - it should tell you on the packaging if it's void of these ingredients).
2) Moisturizer. Regardless of skin type, you NEED to moisturize, day and night.
3) Sunscreen. If your AM moisturizer doesn't have SPF in it, get a separate sunscreen of 30 or so.
4) Exfoliant. This can be a scrub in a tube, or you can even use things like facial sponges or brushes to exfoliate the skin. Some people use washcloths as well. I've yet to find a method that doesn't bother my skin too much, as my skin is quite sensitive.
5) Makeup remover. You should NEVER use your cleanser as both a cleanser and makeup remover, because then you are washing your face with both the cleanser AND your makeup. You can use regular vegetable oils to remove your makeup; grape seed oil and watermelon seed oil are well known for being great for all skin types, especially acne prone. Watermelon seed oil is also supposed to really help dissolve sebum (oil) which may help with blackheads, and grape seed oil has astringent properties that are great for acne or oily skin. Both are very light weight as well.
6) Lip balm. One with SPF and one for use indoors/at night.

If you are meaning makeup, then I would list these are my "must haves":
1) Lip gloss. This is great on the run, because it will add colour and sheen to the lips without having to take extra time to apply it smoothly, like with lip stick.
2) Mascara, for obvious reasons.
3) Blush. If you have dull skin or don't often have a flushed appearance, blush works great to brighten up the skin.
4) Highlighter. This is great around the eyes (brow bone, tear duct, outer corner) to make your eyes look bigger and more awake. I usually just use a sheer, pearly off-white cream shadow as my highlight.
5) Concealer for any blemishes or dark circles that need covering.
6) Sheer or light powder or foundation to help even your skin tone out. I prefer the powder as it's easier and less hassle.
7) Brow powder. If you have very full brows, this isn't needed, but for anyone with thinner or sparser brows, this is very important to help give your brows some structure and give your face more definition.

If you were looking for specific products, I cannot help you. 1) we likely do not have the same or similar skin type 2) our skin chemistry is completely different 3) there are no products that work for everyone, as all products work differently for everyone.
I like to use review websites to find products, try them out and then return what doesn't work. This has helped me to pinpoint my skin irritants and helped me discover certain ingredients that break me out, as well as helped me to pinpoint my skin needs.
The websites I use:
http://www.makeupalley.com
http://www.totalbeauty.com (very seldom, as reviews are quite poor)
And then I will search for specific products in a search engine and check out other blogs or review websites to read more opinions on the product.

does anyone like Chanel skin care or makeup!?

Skin care . From Head to toe . :D?

Labels:

i need skin care 101 . Its summer and i want beautiful skin . Any tips for my whole body .?

Answer
Well first step to having beautiful skin during summer, protect it.

Please, don't fall into that whole artificial tanning bed scheme, and tanning outside. I can't even stress how dangerous a tanning bad actually is, it's direct UVA rays (usually what reaches your skin from the sun is UVB) and listed to be a known carcinogen as potent as arsenic.. People don't actually realize what tanning is. It's your skins response to injury, when the UVA rays penetrate to the bottom layer of the dermis, it causes the skin cells to signal for a increase in the production of melanin, the pigment that makes your skin darker in effort to aid the injury.

Any well reputable dermatologist will tell you, if you want beautiful skin, wear sunscreen, it needs to be at least an SPF of 30, covering broad spectrum and UVA and UVB rays, and look for one with helioplex that makes it last longer. Neutrogena ultra sheer coverage is a good one. You need to apply about a tablespoon to the face and equivalent of a shot glass to the body. At least twice every hour when outside for extensive amounts of time, it really does aid in the prevention of fine lines and other skin impurities, like aging and discoloration.

I'm 17 and I can't stress how important it really is.

Now, make sure to exfoliate your body! This pretty much takes off the dead skin cells that shed of your body every 7-10 days from the epidermis, you can use a loofah or body scrub brush to gently take it off, paying special attention to knees and elbows, and other rough body parts such as heels.Don't exfoliate your chest, instead use a Japanese cleansing cloth like Sensai with some gentle cleanser and go over your decolletage and neck area.

When getting out of the shower make sure to moisturize really well, with just a moisturizing lotion to all over the body, then apply a thick moisturizing cream (if you were to tip the can over it shouldn't budge) to the knees and elbows, etc to make sure they stay moisturized.

When picking out a moisturizer for your face especially, if you have oily skin, use an oil-free moisturizer, if you have dry skin you need to use a cream with hydrating ingredients in it that wont strip the natural oils off your face, such as something containing hyaluronic acid or gylcerin. Acne prone skin should use a gel, and make sure it's non-comondogenic, meaning it wont clog your pores.

In fact if you have acne on your body wash with a cleanser that has Salicylic acid in it, to combat the acne.

For your face, after cleansing, use a toner, which takes away any residue left behind from make-up or a cleanser, find a alcohol-free toner, which wont strip your skin, and if you feel your skin tightening do not use it.

Exfoliate your face around twice a week, and moisturize it night and day.

You can get a nice, safe summer glow from self-tanners, don't believe all that hype about them being orange. You just have to find one that contains a DHA thats not too much for your skin. Try using St. Tropez mousse or even Jergans daily.

Hope i helped :-)
xoxo Gemma

Has anybody used clearasil for acne?

Labels:

Kuthi Kami

ok its the ultra vanishing acne treatment with 3% sulfur and 2% res something lol. Does that work for preventing/treating zits everday?

the other 1 is with tint but it contains too much sulfr.. so maybe its not good for everyday use. and the tint would piss me off because it would be like makeup... and i dont wnna remove it biecause it might be dry.

Answer
Kuthi, if you worry that the 8% sulfur and 2% resorcinol is too much for you, you should definitely start with the 3% sulfur & 2% resorcinol. Remember, the potential of irritation increases with increase in concentration. You have to experiment to see how your skin sensitivity is like with different sulfur concentrations. If the 3% sulfur product works well and you get clear from it - STICK WITH IT! There is no need to use up the tube and then buy the 8% sulfur one.

The 8% tinted is NOT like makeup. Just like a lot of tinted moisturizer and what not, it provide very very sheer coverage. If you use very little and spread it well, you probably won't cover anything else. You shouldn't feel like there is a layer of product on your face either.

The sulfur and resorcinol are drying ingredients as they are very effective against acne breakouts.

Sulfur can prevent acne, sure. Sulfur can induce peeling/shedding of the skin, which "may" promote unclogging of the pores, giving a better flow of oil. Therefore, there is less chance of a pimple. In addition to that resorcinol can dissolve the clog over time. Now, I say salicylic acid does a better job at exfoliating within the pore lining to provide a better flow of oil. But hey, it shouldn't hurt to use both salicylic acid and sulfur and resorcinol together for optimal result. Then again, consider your skin type. If you know you have sensitive skin, be extra careful.

Bottom line: start with 3%. If it works and make you clear, stay with it. And remember, you must follow a well-designed routine with well-formulated products in order to maintain clear skin. If you use one or two good acne products yet every other products are problematic, you may get on-and-off breakouts. Just really read the ingredient lists.

Update: when you finally settle with a regimen with the right products that get you clear, please stick with it. Do not go all skin care junkie and buy pricey products from estee lauder or avon or whatever just to try them. The first and only thing you need to worry about is to get your skin clear. That has to be your primary focus. There is no product from avon that can remove a scar or close a pore. Avon's line of acne products are problematic. If you want serums, get one from Olay Regenerist line, fragrance free. Get your skin clear first!

Any more questions ask!

Best wishes

Do I have acne prone skin?

beautilati

I usually get blemishes in my T-Zone. I get horrible black heads on my chin that I can't get rid of for nothing. Sometimes I wake up with ugly pimples in the corners of my mouth. I'm not sure if this helps, lol.
I've tried proactiv, didn't work.

My favorite makeup artist on youtube, Michelle Phan has a skin care line, IQQU. I'm gonna try her popular acne serum.

Answer
Lots of people have oily T-zones & oil contributes 2 clogged pores, which leads 2 pimples. Every1s skin is different, so I cant tell you what products will work 4 you. But you should try washing your face w/ a wash that has a low dosage of either Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (I use Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Face Wash 1.5% Salicylic Acid). I personally had a bad reaction to Benzyol Peroxide (Proactiv), its a little strong for my sensitive skin. I also recommend Cetaphil Antibacterial soap bar. I have had great results from it. It kills the bacteria in your skin that leads to breakouts.

Wash your face in the morning when you wake up & at night before you go to sleep.

Follow up with a moisturizer, I recommend Olay Complete Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin.

Invest in oil blotting papers that you can take around with you to remove oil throughout the day.

If you wear makeup look for formulas that are specifically for oily skin.

Oil Mattifiers work great too I used Mary Kay's & loved it!

Dont be a product junkie & use a whole bunch of different face washes, stick to one for at least a month to see if it works for your skin.

ALSO when you rinse your face w/ water, then lather the face wash in, leave it on for 1-2 minutes then rinse to let the wash do its job! Ive seen big results from doing this in my skin care routine!

I hope this helps!
