beauty and health go hand in hand image

< ItS mE >

so i got acrylics the day before yesterday.. and i hated them so much so i used advice and took them off last night. but now my nails are in really bad shape and i'v been using this cuticle oil stuff from sally's beauty supply.. and iv been using lots and lots of natural lotion on my hands and fingernails.. my question is, what else can i do to get my nails back to health? and is there a faster way?
thanx!

Answer
Castor oil can be picked up from your local CVS, Duane Reade or Walgreens and it costs, like $2.87. This stuff is utterly amazing for nails. Pour a blob onto a cotton ball and feel your cuticles dissolve into thin air--in a good way.

Can you please give me some tips and suggestions on doing a makeover?

Q. I have many questions to ask so I guess I'd just generalize them up into "Can you please give me some tips and suggestions on doing a makeover?"

I'm doing a really big makeover for myself, because I had really low self esteem and seem to not mind anything especially about beauty care. But I decided to change that personality and give myself a whole new thing.

Here it goes:

Skin:
How do you get rid of:
-pimples
-oily skin
-circles
-eyebags
-pudgy knees
-black and rough knees and elbows
How to have soft skin?

Mouth:
Do you know how to have naturally white teeth?
How long does it take to have braces on? (What I mean here is how long do you get to have it on, not how long does it take for the dentist to put it on.)
Does it hurt to have your teeth taken off and cover some holes on your teeth?
How to have good breath?

Hands and Feet:
Do you know how to grow nails faster? (Not the nailtips, the actual nail.)
How do you have soft feet?
How do you get rid of toe skin peeling off? (I'm not even peeling it off!)
How to deal with black nails?

Health and stuff:
How do you have a flat stomach? (Can you please give me exercises that gives my stomach and muscular look?)
Tips on growing faster?
How to now to have a saggy butt?

Hair (this is the important part!):
How do you get shiny hair naturally? (Also you can give me some tips even if it isn't naturally but doesn't destroy your hair)
How to prevent hair fall?
How to get softer hair?

Other stuff:
What clothing shops should I shop in?
What beauty products should I buy?

I'm really really sorry if I have alot of questions! I'm willing to do all this so I'm begging you to please give me some suggestions and tips! Btw, I'm a female. And if your answers doesn't fit or if it makes it easier for you, just give me some links to the answers to all this, but it's better if you give them directly!

THANK YOU!

Answer
Hey,

Here are a few tips that have been advised to me by Salon in Beverly Hills. I would like to share some of them with you too.

1. Focus on your hair - Your hair is one of the most important parts of your body. Choose a hair that suits your face. This will increase your self - esteem.

2. Sun Shielding - This implies the use of a sunscreen. you ought to protect your from direct heat of the sun. This will keep your skin glowing.

3. Facial Makeup - Too much of every thing is bad. Facial makeup can also make you look good.

Are clinique skin care products safe for teens?

Alicia U

I'm 14 years old, and my skin is oily in the t-zone. I'm just looking around for skin care products to keep my skin healthy, and natural. I use Clinique makeup and I was wondering if their skin care products are safe for 14 year olds.

Answer
of course they are safe! they have their 3 step system which includes facial soap, Clarifying Lotion, and Moisturizer.

first you use the facial soap which is just a cleanser

then for the clarifying lotion (which is toner) they have a #1, #2, #3
number 1 is for very dry to dry
number 2 is for dry combination
number 3 is for oily
number 4 is for very oily

it sounds like you need number 3(oily)

then you use the moisturizer. they have a lotion or a gel depending on your skin type. since you have oily skin, you would use the gel.

you can purchase these products individually or they come as a set. I love these products! I have tried all of them

and just if you are wondering the whole set costs $50.50

I hope this helps and you will love these products!

what is the average wholesale discount for skin care?

MerryBerry

I am starting my own skin care company and I was wondering if any of you might know what the average discount in percentage is for selling products to stores when they buy wholesale/bulk. Plus if you have any tips for how to work with beauty supply stores, all help is appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
Most of them give a 10% discount.. Otherwise, when its more, you have to buy more than say $50 and you'll get 25% off on the products you buy..

Skin care at 40 - how to look my best in 7 months for wedding?

skin care 6 months before wedding image

byrdie

So, I'm getting married in 7 months and I'm 40 years old. What kind of skin care can I start to put my best face forward on my wedding day? I've heard of facial "toning" with micro-currents - does it work?

p.s. No surgery please, I'm not into that (plus I'm not THAT old!). Thanks in advance.

Answer
Start by getting a facial at a reputable salon (1X a month or so). You can ask the esthetician what she recommends. She'll study your skin and give you a treatment designed for your skin type.

Do you have a regular skin care regime? If you don't, then now is the time to adopt one. Regardless of your skin type you need to wash, tone and moisturize 2X a day. On top of that, put sunscreen on EVERY morning. In the morning, after toning and before moisturizing I recommend a topical vitamin C product, and at night, a topical vitamin A/retinoid. Also, exfoliate as needed depending on your skin type.

Here are some product suggestions:
-Bliss The Youth as We Know It- there's an entire line including cleaner and toner and I have tried them all, but the moisture cream and eye cream are particularly amazing and give instant result.
-Bliss Sleeping Peel Serum (there is also a cleanser). You would put this on your face after cleaning and toning at night.
-Bliss Triple Oxygenating Energizing Mask- brightens up your entire complexion. It really works and is quick and easy to do at home.

For vitamin C:
- Philosophy 'A Hope and a Prayer'- it's vitamin C in powder form, you mix a scoop full with serum or moisturizer each morning (this is what I'm currently using. it works well and is less expensive than most vitamin C products
- Skinceuticals CE Ferulic- this is a serum. It works great but is somewhat pricey (also try their B5 serum)

If you have oily skin, black heads and break outs try:
-Laboratoire Remede Double Oxygenating Booster
-Laboratoire Remede Complete Treatment Anti-Aging/Oil Control
-Bliss Steep Clean (this is a pore cleaning mask and is single-handedly the BEST product for getting rid of stubborn black heads)

Make-up (assuming you wear it):
-Less is more. Visit the Clinique counter (or similar) for recommendations. I'd try the lightest, sheerest things possible and if you are used to wearing foundation religiously every day you should try giving your skin some days off

You can always treat yourself to an at home facial, I do this once a week:
1. clean
2. exfoliate (I use Origins Modern Friction or Cosmedicine Medi-Morphosis Self-Adjusting Exfoliator)
3. steam for 10 minutes (boil water, pour in bowl and lean over with a towel draped over head-BE CAREFUL)
4. mask (one suitable for your skin type, I use the Steep Clean to clear out my pores, leave on as per package directions)
5. Wipe mask off face using washcloth, rinse with COLD water
6. Tone
7. Serum
8. Moisturizer

Good luck with your wedding. You gave yourself plenty of time, you'll have a glowing complexion in 7 months! Hope I helped, I don't know your exact skin type so I did the best with what I had :)

wut can i use that gets rid of scars fast??!?

?

my wedding is in 2 months and i was breaking out from stress, and now i have some scars, any advice???

Answer
Try Rose Hip oil (or Rose Hip Seed Oil), it effectively reduces scars caused by acne, surgery, burns, chicken pox, injuries and cuts.

Rose Hip Oil's potent cell regenerating and wound-healing properties help to replace ugly scar tissue with healthy, normal skin. It not only remodels damaged skin structure, it also improves skin color and elasticity.

Rose Hip seed oil is a pressed seed oil, extracted from the seeds of a rose bush (Rosa rubiginosa) which grows wild in the southern Andes.

It is unique among vegetable oils in containing retinol (Vitamin A). Rose hip seed oil is high in the essential fatty acids - linoleic acid or omega-3, and linolenic acid or omega-6. It is commonly used in skin care products. It is used for a variety of skin conditions, including dermatitis, acne and eczema, for mature and sun burnt skin as well as brittle nails.

Rose Hip Oil can help you look better than ever before. It has been used for centuries by the people of Chile. Scientific investigation into its properties began in the 1970s. Today its remarkable effects are recognized globally and it is recommended by dermatologists, skin specialists and cosmetic surgeons.

Can You Make Money in Direct Sales if you have no family to sell to?

Glam_Foxx

Hi, I'm thinking of selling Lia Sophia Jewelry, but my problem is that I don't have any family members or friends to sell to. Okay a few might, but not all the time and I don't think I can generate sales from them.

So can I still be successful I know and understand how to create a Marketing and Advertising Plan? I also know that networking is very important.

Also I'm worried about rather I'll be able to successful with such a bad economy?

Answer
Yes!! It would be great if you famly and friends would support you and your new company, but most people I know in my business fournd family and frends to be the least supportive until they had some success.

Please read below about the things I thought about before choosing my Network Marketing Company it may help you decide the best or you. I think the company I am working with will do well, because their products are products everyone already used. Thank you for reading and I wish you the best. You can do whatever you set your mind to....don't let fear or the fear others have hold you back.

Most work from home type jobs require you to start your own business. All of them will require work and training. I think the key is to find a business that has a proven process that others have been successful using. That way you can duplicate it for your own home business. If you are selling a product or service, you want it to be one that is something everyone uses and will return to you to use it again. Example: Candle Type Company is fun, but not everyone has to have a candle so you may not get repeat business.

NO Parties!!!
I was looking for a work from home type business and I researched what I just mentioned above. I chose Arbonne International. They are fast growing Health and Beauty Company that fills what most healthy people are looking for today - Pure, Safe, and Beneficial Products. Their ingredients are botanically based and they use only things that are beneficial to our bodies and the creation of the product. They are growing and are in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

Our Team has a Simple Concept: NO PARTIES!!! Unless you like parties and then you can do that. But we make it really simple. Replace a few products that you are already using with Arbonne Products and teach other to do the same thing. So it is really simple, but it does take a little time and effort.

Costs; (If you can not spend any money to start, I can show you how to start for free. The example below requires a small start up fee, but I can show you how to do this with NO START UP COSTS!!!)

Arbonne Membership is $29.00 USD ($35.00 USD with s&h of your packet). This gets you signed up as an Independent Consultant. After that you can use that membership 2 ways.

1/ As a Wholesale Consumer and receive 35% to 80% off your personal purchases. You can order as little or as much as you would like. No requirements.

2/ As a Biasness Builder: You will receive the same discounts as above, but you will also receive override referral pay from Arbonne. It starts at 4% and as your business grows and you work your way up the management levels, you can earn as much as 17%. The requirement to receive an override referral pay from Arbonne is to purchase $100.00 Personal Retail (only $65.00 with your wholesale membership) each month. They require this because if you are going to be referring the business and products to others, you should be using them yourself. This is not and extra cost for you, this is you replacing products you already purchase with Arbonne products. Arbonne has over 300 products, so if you already have a favorite shampoo you don't want to switch, they offer enough other products for you switch to and purchase each month.

Once again our team does not do Parties. We keep it simple. We each purchase our required $100 Personal Retail ($65.00 Wholesale actual cost to us) and then we teach others to do the same. We don't keep an inventory of products in our homes. We just share the wonderful products of Arbonne and the Arbonne Business Builder Program as our vehicle to earning a Plan B income. Some have made it their Plan A. It can grow that big.

I hope this has given you a window into Arbonne. Please visit my website in the source below. You can see how our concept works; learn about the products, the company, the pay plan, and me and our team. If you are ready to sign up you can click the link in the upper right corner "Start Nowâ If you want more information, please email me.

This is not just a company for the ladiesâ¦many men have also been successful.

I hope you find the right company! I wish you the best!

Where is the cheapest place in the world to get GOOD plastic surgery?

Q. I live in the UK and I want a nose job, lip job, nipple job, ass inplants & a few other things & I'd like to know where the cheapest place is I can get these done at 17

Answer
The Cheapest Places In The World To Get Plastic Surgery

Getting a plastic surgery can be overwhelming because youâll need to cover a lot of concerns. The main issue here is the cost of the procedure and the credibility of the doctor who will perform the surgery. There are many clinics out there that offer such services. And you certainly do not want to compromise your well-being by simply jumping in without giving much thought and research.

Plastic surgery is no longer a thing that needs to be kept secret from the public. More and more people are open to the idea of enhancing their looks through the help of medical technology. The crowd does not only include the rich and famous. In fact, even ordinary people have that desire to attain a perfect body through plastic surgery. It doesnât matter where they get it as long as they have the best doctors, facilities, and results. Yes, they are willing to pay the price of becoming a medical tourist.

But, do know you that there are many places all over the world where you can get the same results without having to shell out too much money? That is right. Of course, you should be careful before you actually proceed with any form of plastic surgery.

Experts always advise those who want to go under the knife for the sake of beauty to be wary at first lest you want to get something worse than you bargained for.

10. India
India takes pride of its skilled local doctors who had their training and surgical practice in countries like Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. International medical tourists are assured that they get the same excellent treatment with a lesser price compared to the plastic surgery costs in these first world countries. The healthcare facilities are especially designed to accommodate international visitors. The services they offer are granted accreditation by the JCAHO, which is prestigious accreditation agency. There is no language barrier here since English is Indiaâs second language.

9. Dominican Republic
In spite of Hollywoodâs negative depiction of getting a plastic surgery in a small country in the Caribbean, the truth is that the Dominican Republic has a reputation of offering excellent but inexpensive plastic surgery. Those who had undergone cosmetic procedures can attest to that. In fact, these patients were surprised to discover that the surgeons here are very professional, skilled, cordial, and are even willing to negotiate fees with their patients. What would normally cost $6,000 in the USA can be performed in Dominican Republic with an astonishing amount of only $2,400 â and sometimes even lower.

8. Thailand

Thailand is famous for its exotic culture and places. Bangkok, the countryâs capital city, is always flocked with Western tourists who seek plastic surgery. The surgeons and other hospital staff are courteous and service-oriented. Getting superb care at a cheaper price is definitely what makes Thailand one of the sought-after places for getting a variety of plastic surgery procedures to enhance a personâs look. Each procedure and client is treated with confidentiality. Those who go to Thailand can expect world-class service.

7. Taiwan
Taiwan boasts of performing around 221,000 procedures in 2010. This simply shows that there is a high demand for plastic surgery because the country has very affordable fees. Their rates are competitive and rival those of other Asian nations such as China and Japan. Medical tourism in Taiwan is really booming since most surgeons get their education and training overseas. In addition, their health care facilities and services is one of the best in the region. Western patients are surprised just by how inexpensive the treatments here are.

6. USA
The United States of America is the hub for many invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. The top in-demand cosmetic surgeries are liposuction and breast augmentations. Plastic surgery has gone a long way here since people talk openly about it in contrast to how people perceive it a couple of decades ago. Because of this, plastic surgery continues to grow in the country.

5. Colombia
Colombia takes pride of being a medical tourism hot spot. Among the popular plastic surgery procedures, liposuction is the most in-demand. Foreigners who travel to other countries like Colombia for a plastic surgery are advised to take caution. The procedures that are done are safe, but one must be careful when navigating the country as there are areas which may not be as tourist-friendly.

4. Brazil
Brazilians have no squirms when it comes to plastic surgery. The top most popular invasive surgeries are liposuction and breast enhancement procedures. Even the government support elective plastic surgery through a tax-deduction system, where cosmetic surgeries are deductible from the peopleâs income tax. This is because the government sees that the high demand for the different plastic surgery procedures provide additional income for those practicing in the industry. This will eventually boost medical tourism in their country.

3. Italy
Italy had Botox Dysport as the most popular and affordable plastic surgery done while liposuction was considered as the most commonly sought invasive procedure. Around 815,00 procedures are performed here annually. This report surprised the experts since not long ago, the country was rarely recognized as a good venue for plastic surgeries.

2. Greece
In spite of the fact that Greece has a struggling economy, it comes in second place when talking about the number of affordable procedures done here. The most popular procedure is breast augmentation. Surprisingly, penis enlargement procedures are reportedly done 10 times more than the average frequency in other countries, and this is because people find it cheaper if the surgery is done here. Clearly, globalization plays a key role for the plastic surgery industry to flourish in unpredicted places all over the world.

1. South Korea
South Korea has the Asian regionâs biggest plastic surgery patrons. And itâs now wonder since the country is known for having the most skilled surgeons and the best facilities that will not necessarily drain oneâs wallet. Among the common procedures performed here are liposuction, nose jobs and double eyelid surgery. In 2010, it is reported that 44,000 double eyelid surgeries were done in this country. This is not surprising since most Asian patients opt to have those Western-looking set of eyes, whilst there is a total of more than 360,000 procedures in the same year. One out of five women from Seoul have undergone plastic surgery, this is according to a market-research conducted in 2009.

My skin dries out after a hot bath. Should I bathe in oil or apply afterwards? What cheap oils work well?

Labels:

fifty50

I have lots of body aches which are helped by a hot bath. I don't want to buy beauty oils because they are pricey, so I'd rather use food oils. Baby mineral oil in inexpensive, but is it healthy? A few people have mentioned olive oil or almond oil.

How much should I use? I've seen anything from 2T to a few drops.

Answer
Any vegetable oil is fine providing it is Cold Pressed - anything else has been boiled to get the oil out and therefore the nutrients in the oil are dead. Olive oil is great (and the cheapest) Almond oil is lighter to use but the more costly of the two. if you want to add a scent to the oil use Essential Oils (like lavender, sandalwood, orange etc), but make sure they are not 'perfume oils' which are a cheaply made version of essential oils. Most health food stores can help you with these items. Rosemary essential oil is the one used for muscular aches.

If you have dry skin after bath here is a method I use to keep skin moist. Mix equal amounts of Oil and natural sea salt (not iodised salt)
(I find 1 tbsp of each is enough) and then gently rub over your entire body, then get into bath and just sit (dont wash it off leave it on) when you get out of bath gently pat yourself dry. You will find your skin is nice and smooth.

Also try usuing goats milk soaps they tend to wash without drying out the skin.

How should I get rid of blackheads and acne on forehead and chin?

Florence

Im 20 years old and I never had acne before about a year ago. I have a lot of blackheads on my forehead and it results in little bumps, sometimes red ones. I also have some on my chin, though they turn into pimples a lot more often. The space between my eyebrows has been the place where pimples have come out when i was a teen, about once a month (Im a girl and hormones you know what I mean). I still have issues in that area.

I wash my face once a day before I go to bed, often twice a day if I wash in the morning as well. I use a natural scrub and soft foaming face soap. I haven't found a lotion I like yet so hydration could be part of the issue, but Im sure there is more. It's pretty bad and people who love me have started to pass comments about it. I don't feel Im getting a handle on the situation.

Can anyone help me?

Answer
Hello, I am 17 and know what you are going through trust me! Black heads suck! I have finally found something that helped me though and it's cheap and not very hard to do!
I have been through many trial and error and have realized commercial skin products just make things worse.

The supplies I use to maintain healthy good looking skin (as best I can) is different types of salt and a very gentle soap.

My soap is made by Dr. Ohiira (called a beauty bar) which has all natural ingrediants and probiotics to help kill of bad bacteria on the skin but maintain the good bacteria that heal your skin. You can order this soap online, but if you want something from the drug store try Dove's unscented soap bar. I reccomend going to a health food store instead and getting a very natural soap instead though.

Next after washing your face with a mild, gentle cleanser you are going to need:
Epsom salt (salt of magnesium) you can get this at any drug store for very cheap. It is great for the skin, aches, buises, scrapes, etc and it even helps kill bad bacteria and retain moisture in skin.

You can either put two table spoons of this in pretty warm water and stir it around until it is cloudy white ish and tastes bitter. You can use this as a toner for your skin with a cotton ball and let it dry as a mask. You can even sleep with this, but it will dry as a slightly white salty film so I would sleep on a towel or some sort of pillow protector although I never have noticed a noticible salty film in my bed or anything. The toner helps all oilyness and seriosuly reduced redness so much. A less potent toner with less epsom salt would leave a less white residue and could be used for daily wear, under make up even.

The next way to use epsom salt is to grind it up into a almost a powder like form. I do this using a coffee bean grinder (I do this because the grains are to big and don't scrub as much and the sand like texture helps more when using as a scrub). I then mix it with either a creamy gentle cleanser, or just a little bit of water, or some sort of natural home made mask and use it as a scrub / exfolient and the grains will eventually disolves soaking into your face and then you rinse.

There is yet another way to use epsom salt, and this is good for body oilyness and acne. Put two cups of epsom salt into a hot bath and soak. This is very effective plus relaxing as the magnesium sulfate (that makes up epsom salt) is very soothing to your muscles as well as good for taking out redness and inflamation in the skin.

Two other types of salts I use on my skin are Hemilayan Sea Salt (naturally a light pink or greyish color) and I also use Dead sea salt.

Both of these salts are great at fighting blemishes and reducing oils but are a more drying salt for the skin. If you choose to you can add 1 tea spoon of each of these salts to 2 cups of warm water. OR even more effectively you can make a toner using all three, (Hemilayan, Dead Sea, and Epsom salt) into one toner.

I would alternate between using the mixed salt toner, and regular epsom salt toner so you do not dry your skin out to much but to keep it balanced.

Apple cider vinegar used in the ratio 1:1 with water makes an excellent claryfying agent and even lightens the skin (:

You can look up the reviews for most of these items too and see how other people rate them also. The sight acne.org has a lot of info on products and skin even if you don't have acne it can be helpful. ! Hope this helps with everyoneâs skin! XO (:

table salt should never be used on the skin because it is bleached and will actually harm your skin as well as your body. Eating pure sea salt is a million times better too!

email me if you have any questions or comment.

Ashley

I want a lip piercing.
I'm 14.
I live in Las vegas, so it isn't uncommon.

But will people frown upon it? I can always just take it out and let it heal it is that important.

Answer
I live in Vegas also, and I always see people with piercings, so it isn't uncommon and I don't think people would frown upon it. Of course people who are conservative and hate piercings and tattoos and all that wouldn't like it, but this is you and you shouldn't care about them. If you really want it, then get it.
As for jobs, it might be more difficult, but some places still hire with piercings, and you could always put in a clear/skin colored retainer.

Is the a native american sweat lodge in Las Vegas?

Tess

I heard there's one on Mt. Charleston, but I need details!

Answer
Are you Natve? I doubt it...... If not why would you care?...There are alot of non Natives doing this and getting killed cause they don't know what the hell they are doing?.....This sounds like some newage crap to me...and most likely its all phoney and fake. This is why our ceremonies need to remain within our own people and tribes cause silly people who want to do these things get hurt every time and also take what does not belong to them!...Hope they don't charge money then you'll know its a scam!....not all tribes do sweats either....if you looking for details you wont get any from any REAL SKIN!

Answer
Seems like the first answerer is confusing a billion answers for a billion questions. The billionth answer was posted back in May of this year, however since most questions receive multiple answers that means Yahoo is still well short of a billion questions.

http://www.yanswersbloguk.com/b4/2010/05/04/1-billion-answers-served/

I answered a similar question to this a few months ago, doing some calculations to find that the number of questions on Yahoo was around 90 million.
http://nz.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao2HS81I5qO94osrMeNbgj3IZwx.;_ylv=3?qid=20100530183859AAd0JwI

Since that answer is now 4 months old and therefore out of date, let's repeat the calculation. I know that this method only takes into account nondeleted questions, but since they're the only ones accessible in the database, it really makes sense to only include them.

3189036 questions in Arts and Humanity
4342032 in Beauty and Style

6939562 in Society and Culture
4146958 in Sports
2183084 in Travel
1800384 in Yahoo! Poducts

Adding that lot up, I get 93080277 resolved questions in Yahoo Answers overall. There would be a few million in voting as well, and since open questions will be relatively small (since open questions must be from the last few days), the total number of questions on Yahoo Answers currently would be around 100 million.

What are some great website that I can get coupons from?

<-Moi!

Like coupons for grocery & health & beauty products. My favorite
store to shop from is Walmart too if that helps. Thank You =]

Answer
There are a lot of good sites to print coupons from. Here are some of the better ones:

coupons.com
couponnetwork.com
smartsource.com
redplum.com
target.com

Also, here is a coupon site you should find really helpful.

http://www.loyalcouponer.com

They have a database that lets you search for specific coupons for items you may have on your shopping list. It will show you all available coupons for the product and direct you to the sponsoring website (most of the time the manufacturers website), to print it off. This site is also great at keeping you up to date on the latest deals, promotions, free stuff, samples and more.

Best of luck couponing!!!

Are Asian beauty products cheaper in Asia or America?

Beat of An

I plan to go to South Korea soon and I'm interested in picking up a few asian beauty/skin care products (namely japanese and korean brands). Obviously I assumed that they would be cheaper in asia, but a friend of mine said that they're actually more expensive over there.
So would brands like Skin Food, Skin79, Shiseido, Laneige, and Boscia be more affordable in South Korea?

Answer
If you buy like local brands (the ones that aren't so known internationally) it would be cheaper in Asia. I'm from Asia myself and when I lived there I bought loads of Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese products. If you do go to Singapore expect it to be much cheaper.

I'm just saying this because I'm Asian and if I compare it to the ones my dad buys me from Europe (like Elizabeth Arden etc) it's way cheaper! Just don't buy directly from the airport or you'll really be ripped off. You should try going to local pharmacies and you'll usually find every product you need.~

Should I go to cosmetology school instead of community college?

Labels:

beauty and health careers image

Q. I just finished my first semester of community college.
I have been wanting to do something in the beauty industry (particularly makeup) since my freshman year of school.
When I sit and think about my future, I honestly don't see myself ever doing anything that I would need to take an academic path to get there. I love makeup and doing makeup on other people and it's the only time I actually feel good at something.
I have been seriously considering cosmetology school but I am afraid of not going to college, since basically every child is brought up thinking if you don't go to college you're not going to succeed.
Ha anyone attended cosmetology school? Does anyone have any advice for me? Help :(

Answer
If you do decide to put college on hold, please consider the more affordable (and usually more reputable) county vo-tech adult school or community college, if a cosmetology program is available at the county college. Please make sure that the program is approved by the State board of cosmetology, too. Just an fyi that the curriculum does include some anatomy and chemistry.

It can take a cosmetology graduate a couple of years to "get a book" (of regular customers) before possibly making decent money. That is another reason to consider the more affordable program. If attending a pricier school, the person may be stuck having to repay those student loans while struggling to pay for rent, food, health/auto insurance and other expenses.

For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/ooh and can search.

Is there really a need for landscape architects and interior architects?

Q. Also known as landscape designers and interior designers but with at minimum a bachelors degree. I ask this because an architect can design outdoor and indoor spaces as well as a building while landscape and interior architects can only manage part of a project.

Or I've heard people say in some professions that it's good to focus on one aspect of a broad career. An example is advertising, you're better at focusing on one part like animation, rather than dabbling in all parts if you want to be most successful.

What are your thoughts?

Answer
Each of these careers suffer when the economy slips.
Architects (of structures) can design the building and it's interiors and outdoor SPACES!
But a landscape architect will know the best plant materials for the site, where to place them to enhance the structure, and the required care for maintaining the health and beauty of the materials installed.

What are the best affiliate sites related to health and beauty?

John euliz

I'm an aspiring affiliate marketer and just want to ask what are the best affiliate sites to register to that concerns itself with health and beauty. Thanks.

Answer
Health and beauty has a lot of CPA offers, many are product trials, etc. that don't fit the conventional sales commission model. They usually want to hear about your marketing experience in telephone interviews. wolfstormmedia.com is one that I hear is newbie friendly with good training, it's about a year old. CBleads, cpajuice.com, Maxbounty have been known to approve applications with no interview, which may actually be a bad thing, less selective networks are likely to have lower payouts or more scrub problems.

I really want a gradual tanning mosturiser that looks natural. What ones should i avoid and which are best?

Answer
I love the Loreal self-tanning gel, which, when applied with some rubber gloves, gives an absolutely perfect glow. But what I'd recommend? Check out the self-tanning beauty guide from Women's Health magazine. Its editors got streaked and bronzed for us all (hard life, huh?). See WH's tips and reviews from product testers here. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/beauty-and-style/best-self-tanners

These are WH's top moisturizer or gradual tan picks:
For Fair Skin: Dove Energy Glow body lotion ($10 for 13.5 oz, drugstore.com)
For Dry Skin: Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream ($40 for 3.9 oz, clarinsusa.com)
For Your Face: Declor Aroma Sun SPF 10 Hydrating Tinted SelfTanning GelCream ($36 for 1.69 oz, sephora.com)
For an Intense Gradual Tan: Jergens Natural Glow Express ($7.50 for 4 oz, drugstore.com)
For Traveling: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze SelfTanning Towelettes for Body ($10 for 6 wipes, drugstore.com)

And also look into Shiseido Brilliant Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Gel for Face and Body ($28 for 5.4 oz). This turned out to be a WH fave.

I'm just curious because I'm concerned my daughter tans way too often and her skin is always so red. I think she's becoming obsessed with it, what's worse is she works at a tanning salon so she can do it for free. Any advice?

Answer
OMG !!! talk to her !! my best friend had to tske serious medications!!
tell your daughter these facts and shell never tan again
No Safe Tan
Ever since fashion empress Coco Chanel sported her new tan after a yachting
vacation in the 1920s, many Americans have equated tanned skin with good
health, great wealth, leisure time, social status, beauty, and high fashion.

In the January 1991 issue of Vanity Fair magazine, writer Bob Colacello
interviews Hollywood heartthrob George Hamilton. Hamilton may well be most
famous for his perpetual tan, which Colacello describes as perfect, not too
shiny or too dull, not too orange or too brown, but the same cinnamon wash
he's had since he was sixteen.

During a television program, Hamilton tells viewers of how he grabs a tan
whenever and wherever he can. One can only wonder why Hamilton and others
like him have ignored the outpouring of information in the last decade from
such sources as the Food and Drug Administration and the American Academy of
Dermatology, the National Cancer Institute, and the American Cancer Society,
which have been repeated by many fashion magazines. With a consistent
message, experts are warning Americans of the hazards of exposure to
ultraviolet radiation, the sun's UVA and UVB wavelengths. These imperil all
sun worshippers regardless of natural skin color in ways that Coco Chanel
could never have imagined.

To understand why sun damages, says Warwick Morison, M.D., associate
professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins University, think of yourself
sitting unprotected on the beach for four hours. This sunbathing process
kills skin cells by UV radiation and alters the function of collagen and
elastin, the connective tissue in the skin. It also causes blood vessels to
dilate. That's why people turn red, he says. Days after you leave the beach
burnt and blistered, you lose a layer of skin as it peels off. You may even
freckle as a result of local changes in pigment cells. And those are only
the acute, immediate changes.

Even tanning slowly and carefully is dangerous. Darrell Rigel, M.D.,
clinical assistant professor of dermatology at New York University,
Manhattan, maintains, There's no such thing as a safe tan. That's the key
point. You have to think about why you tan. The body senses that it is being
injured by UV radiation and, to protect itself, it produces melanin.
(Melanin is the body's natural sun block, the dark pigment that skin cells
produce to block out damaging rays and that cause tanning.)

But further damage occurs at the cellular level, he explains. When the sun
hits the skin, the DNA in the skin cells gets distorted. Think of the DNA
in the cell as a spiral staircase," he says. What happens is that the two
chains of the DNA are no longer connected and the stairs go off at a funny
angle. Normal people have the enzyme that attempts to repair the damage.?
But, he adds, the repair is never total; some damage always remains, and it
accumulates over the years.

While the immediate harm, the burning, blistering and peeling, is painful,
what people should fear are the long-term consequences of regular sun
exposure and tanning those skin and other body changes that may appear as
many as 20 or 30 years later, long after even the memories of carefree days
of sunbathing have faded. Skin cancer is one consequence.

Most experts attribute the dramatic rise in skin cancers to America?s love
affair with the sun and to Americans' changed lifestyles that put people
outdoors for longer periods, for more months of the year, and often in
skimpier outfits that leave more skin exposed.

Skin Cancer Increases

There are three main types of skin cancer: melanoma, basal-cell carcinoma,
and squamous-cell carcinoma. The deadliest of these is melanoma, but
squamous-cell carcinoma is also a killer, and the most common form of skin
cancer among black Americans, reports Ted Rosen, M.D., associate professor
of dermatology, Baylor College of Medicine at Houston.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 600,000 people were
diagnosed with basal-cell and squamous-cell carcinomas in 1990, up from
400,000 in 1980. Thirty-five thousand more were diagnosed with melanoma in
1990.

The rate of melanomas has doubled in less than a decade, says Vincent DeLeo,
M.D., assistant professor and director of environmental dermatology,
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Manhattan. It's already the number
one cancer in young women under 35. And it's increasing rapidly. If not
removed in the earliest stages, deadly melanomas do not carry a very good
prognosis.

Melanomas can metastasize and appear in many sites, says Paul Bergstresser,
M.D., chairman of the department of dermatology, University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. Or they can migrate down the lymph
system and can be in adjacent sites, so even if the original melanoma is

Does Hair Plus Shampoo and Conditioner really make hair grow?

Rebecca

I hear some peoples hair grows almost two inches a month.

Answer
NO. Who's telling you it does? People your own age? People who've had over 4 decades of hair know how? Salon people?

Shampoo is meant to clean, Google it.
Conditioner is for hair that's chemically treated, curly/wavy hair or hair that's been straightened.

Anything else they're saying it would do, they're lying, just to get your business, it is a billion dollar business, btw, and they don't give money back for damaged hair or hair loss, due to 'abuse'.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.

It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo . If you're having cavities, or teeth falling out one after another, you don't change toothpaste.

It may grow very slowly or none at all if you've straightened your hair in the past.

You get the strength & all your vitamins & minerals & proteins FREE from the good foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man, and no shampoo can help grow hair, not even those made for horses. Horses don't abuse their hair, using heating tools, and they eat better than people, but it won't add more hair & make their hair longer faster.Shampoo intended for animals may contain insecticides or other medications for treatment of skin conditions or parasite infestations such as fleas or mange. These must never be used on humans.
Prenatal vitamins don't make your hair grow. Pregnant women have to start taking care of their bodies when they're pregnant, meaning stop smoking, drinking, dyeing or perming their hair SO OF COURSE their hair start growing again. But it has nothing to do with their hair, it has something to do to help the development of their unborn child.

"Foods for Healthy Hair" - the website had moved, type it in.
http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthieâ¦

Source(s):
I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's. If cheap shampoos are damaging, it's the result for my healthy hair then!

Is it just me or am I just being tempted to quit already?

I started with Mary Kay around the end of February, making it one month since I started. I have attended two meetings, the first one went great because I did learn lots of things but yesterday I felt really bad because I see that all these women get recognized for selling a lot of products and at the same time had lots of Skin Care Classes. I have only had one facial, and hope to have around three more this and next week(I have already spoken to some people about it). But, what I feel bad about is that I have had lots of people not order from the book because they either have had an allergic reaction or because they believe it is too expensive. What I think is that they do not know the product. But anyway, should I be thinking this way already? I know one of the main concepts from Mary Kay is "not quitting".I need to mention that I do have a full time job and have a married life with two young boys. How can I approach other methods to try to sell Mary Kay, and I do like it though.

Answer
DOn't give up! It will get easier. The first year of a business is the hardest and the first 6 months are the hardest of that. You business will have highs and lows. Right now you are comparing yourself to people that may have more clients, a different situtation at home, working their business longer, who knows. BUt, please don't let yourself compare yourself to anyone. Your goal should be to do the best you can right now and try to improve every month. The focus should be growing your clientele by seeing more faces. Don't worry about sales right now. Just see as many faces as you can and it will grow from there.

I suggest doing the power start: 30 faces in 30 days. I know this sounds like a lot, but with 6 classes of 5 people each, you would be done! Plus, getting referrels from each one makes a huge difference! When I hit lows I do the power start all over again. Whomever I ask I just say "I am working on a huge goal for my business and need to borrow your face" then I remind them to keep their checkbook in the car. It takes the pressure off and if they like the product, then they will buy.

I have 2 boys, work fulltime and my husband is deployed, so I totally understand your frustration. Just keep working at it and give it TIME!

Answer
Less is more. Don't think that the more eyeliner you wear the older you look. The more you wear, the more it looks like you're TRYING to look older.

Change your makeup from day to night. Black eyeliner is too harsh to wear during the day. Sheer gloss is boring for the evening. Keep it natural during the day, glam it up when the sun goes down.

Don't fight your natural hair's texture. It's a waste of time. You will NOT win! If you have curls, define 'em. If you have waves, scrunch 'em. If your hair's stick straight, wear it proud. Don't be a slave to your flat iron. Everyone's hair is unique and lends an element of personality to your appearance that's yours alone. Learn to love what nature gave you. Use products and tools to enhance what you've got, not try to hide or fix what you don't. Trust me on this. Same can be said for trying to correct other "flaws" --covering freckles or using make up to contour your nose...Love yourself and recognize that those quirky little features you hate so much are the ones that make you uniquely beautiful.

Build your closet from a foundation of "staples" (classic, timeless pieces. things that don't go out of style in a matter of a couple weeks. premium denim, layering tees and tanks, button-downs, a pair of black pants, etc.), then incorporate trendy items in and out of rotation. You shouldn't need to buy a whole new wardrobe every season.

Develop a personal style that's all your own. Don't get too hung up on trends --they come and go. Pay attention to them, if fashion is an interest, but pick and choose the ones that you like, rather than following them all just because everyone else is.

People really do shine from the inside out. Don't neglect your mind and spirit for the sake of maintaining your outward appearance. Things like poor health or exhaustion or a bad attitude really do show through the exterior whether you wear nice clothes or do your makeup up. And smiling and being positive and uplifting can make the plainest jane beautiful in another's eyes. It's been said time and time again, but MUCH of beauty does come from within.

One more cliche: Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Do what makes YOU feel beautiful, because you will never be universally appealing to everyone around you. In that same vein, even if someone calls you ugly, just because one person thinks that doesn't mean that you're not attractive to anyone.

Answer
go to sally's beauty supply and buy the purple shampoo that they use on humans.....its the same stuff that they use on the dogs.....shampoo the dog with it and let it stand for several minutes....then rinse it out.....dont leave it on to long or you will have a baby blue dog.....use it once a week, twice if the dog is really stained bad.....and enjoy your white dog

Alright so here's the story. Me and my GF are 22, we've been dating for 1 year and 8 months, and I. Asked her to Marry me an she said yes. We're getting married next month... Or at least we were until yesterday... My gf's parents were out of town and weren't scheduled to come back until today. So anyways her parent's just got a new like 1,000 dollar HD camcorder for when they go in safaris. So my gf got out the camera and said that she wanted to "take some pictures". So to make a long story short, we took some explicit video, and left the camera, with the videos still on it, on the table. We then went out to eat an when we came back, her parents were home, I didn't go in I just dropped her off and drove away. Then this morning she hasn't texted me so I just went over to her house. My gf answered the door and mouthed the words "they know" to me. I instantly knew what she was talking about and got nervous. Her parents were sitting in the kitchen, and her father immodesty told me to sit down and explain myself. He played back our video to us, which was really embarrassing and then asked what the he!! We were doing. I was speechless: apparently her parents found the video while we were eating and confronted my GF about them. Then they took her phone and that!s why he hadn't texted me. Her father began chewing me out, saying that he outta kick my @$$ and skin me alive for touching his daughter before marriage. Then her mother started, saying that she thought we were trustworthy, and as soon as she turned we back we were on top of one another. I apologized and pleaded with them to please not cancel our wedding and he said that he won't but he doesn't approve of us, an he will NOT give his blessing or attend the wedding. We messed up big time, why didn't we just wait until marriage? What can I say to my soon to be inlaws to change their minds about the whole thing, and why are they so mad... We were getting married anyways so who cares if we "fooled around"?

Answer
The ONLY thing you can do is apologize to them, let them know you're sorry, ask their forgiveness. Let them know you would so appreciate their blessing on your marriage. It's something they can never chg. their mind on & go backwards. Ask him to please consider it as it's something that can never be reversed ever. Would he at least seriously think about it & consider it again as it's a one time thing. To also think of the future & of grandchildren who WILL be theirs regardless if they want them or not. Are they also not going to consider their own flesh & blood. Give them/him food for tho't. Unfortunately, you two goofed big time!!! I'm sure they saw some "shocking" videos!!! Time does heal, hopefully it will before your wedding...I wish you the best...:)

Mel Gibson family and invest?

Q. Mel Gibson family and invest?

Answer
Family
Gibson met Robyn Denise Moore in the late 1970s soon after filming Mad Max when they were both tenants at a house in Adelaide. At the time, Robyn was a

dental nurse and Mel was an unknown actor working for the South Australian Theatre Company.[54] On June 7, 1980, they were married in a Catholic church in

Forestville, New South Wales.[55] The couple have one daughter, six sons, and two grandchildren.[56] Their seven children are Hannah (born 1980), twins

Edward and Christian (born 1982), William (born 1985), Louis (born 1988), Milo (born 1990), and Thomas (born 1999).
Daughter Hannah Gibson married blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd on September 16, 2006.[57][58]
After nearly three years of separation, Robyn Gibson filed for divorce on April 13, 2009, citing irreconcilable differences. In a joint statement, the

Gibsons declared, "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do

so."[8]
Gibson's former girlfriend, Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to their daughter Lucia on October 30, 2009.[59][60] In April 2010, it was made

public that they had split.[61] The Los Angeles County Sheriffâs Department has launched a domestic violence investigation against Gibson.[62][63] Gibson

has filed for a restraining order against Grigorieva to prevent her speaking publicly about the case.[64][65]
Investments
Gibson is a property investor, with multiple properties in Malibu, California, several locations in Costa Rica, a private island in Fiji and properties in

Australia.[66][67] In December 2004, Gibson sold his 300-acre (1.2 km2) Australian farm in the Kiewa Valley for $6 million.[68] Also in December 2004, Gibson

purchased Mago Island in Fiji from Tokyu Corporation of Japan for $15 million. Descendants of the original native inhabitants of Mago, who were displaced in

the 1860s, have protested the purchase. Gibson stated it was his intention to retain the pristine environment of the undeveloped island.[69] In early 2005,

he sold his 45,000-acre (180 km2) Montana ranch to a neighbor.[70] In April 2007 he purchased a 400-acre (1.6 km2) ranch in Costa Rica for $26 million, and

in July 2007 he sold his 76-acre (310,000 m2) Tudor estate in Connecticut (which he purchased in 1994 for $9 million) for $40 million to an unnamed buyer.

[71] Also that month, he sold a Malibu property for $30 million that he had purchased for $24 million two years before.[72] In 2008, he purchased the Malibu

home of David Duchovny and Téa Leoni.[73]

Why is patting products on skin better?

Eyes Wide

I hear all the time from my friends, beauty gurus and my mother that patting skin care products like serum, sunscreen and moisturizer on your skin is much better than rubbing them in your skin. Why? What makes the difference?

Answer
Supposedly rubbing can cause wrinkles. Especially excessive rubbing. Just like over using exfoliating products can stretch out your skin/cause wrinkles.

I always just rub it in using my ring finger. I read somewhere that you're supposed to use it when applying under eye products because it's the least powerful finger, so there's less pressure when applying stuff. I just use my ring finger to rub it in gently all over my face. I feel like patting doesn't cover the entire area/uses more product.

Is it suppose to sting when I put toothpaste on my pimple?

I saw on a site about skin care that by putting toothpaste on your pimple helps. But is it suppose to sting? Cause I just put some toothpaste on it now it's stinging. Could my skin type be a problem?

Answer
yeah it should sting a little. don't over do it though because your skin will become used to it and may not work anymore. that's what happened to me, right now i use the aspirin mask every couple weeks if i see some spots. aspirin actually has the same ingredient in it as most acne medications. i love doing it, it's simple and only takes a minute to make it. all you need is three aspirin and a few drops of honey (honey is naturally antimicrobial and healing to your skin).

i'll share my secret with you, this girl is my do-it-yourself GURU! she has a ton of tuturials for different facial masques and tips and tricks on exfoliating. i use her recipes ALL the time and i have really good skin now!

here is her aspirin masque:

The ad posted about two months ago while I was reading my email. It was an advertisement for a skin care product. That was specifically grouped by your age (20s, 30s, 40s). Is there any way that your company could view the archives for skin care porducts advertised ny AdChoices?

Answer
I got introduced to L'BRI and it has been the most amazing skin care I could have ever imagined for! The difference with L'BRI is it's Aloe Vera based instead of water! Go check your current skin care, I bet the first ingredient on the bottle is water! Our skin isn't meant to absorb water, otherwise imagine what we'd look like when we took a shower! lol : ) So you're just caking a layer of gunk on your skin and your skin can't breath and just gets clogged. Aloe has been a healing plant used for thousands of years for cuts, scraps and burns. Imagine what it does for your skin! Heals everything!
Anyways, I could go on and on. The company offers free 7-day starter kits (you do have to pay $6.95 for shipping but it's worth it)! Check it out, and I will bet anything, your skin looks amazing within a month!
www.cleanskin.lbri.com is where i buy my products.

*I also use the body wash on my kiddos because some baby washes contain a numbing agent that numbs their eyes and that's why they don't cry when it gets in their eyes! :( and the Aloe Jelly on my daughter when she gets diaper rash!

Good Luck!

What is a reasonable amount of money to spend on skin care products?

Hi :) I'm a 14 year old girl (highschool freshmen) and I care a lot about my skin. I want it to be healthy, radiant, and clear. How much money is a reasonable amount to spend on skin care products. How much is going overboard? Thanks :)

Answer
Well, when i was your age i used kits around 15 dollars and they never really worked. They bleached my facial skin and never really took care of the blemishes, just dried out my skin. But last year i found clinque acne solutions (its sells for about 48 dollars at macy's and younkers and lasts about 3 months per kit) and it works amazing! I dont think there is a ridiculous amount to spend on face care because so many people have different skin needs, but if you find something that works, its worth the investment! Good luck.
