How can I make te skin on my face healthy again?

I had bad acne and used retin a. My face was red and peely ad it stung a lot and was very dry. I stopped using the medication and now I only use natural products, and when I have a blemish I just stick a bit of tea tree oil. I also use the Olay pro x spin thing. And my face is still very red and dry! What can I do to make it better? Have I already aged my skin a lot? Help!!!

Answer
VERY LONG ANSWER! BUT THIS WILL HELP YOU!

You haven't aged your skin, you're just not using products that agree with your skin type. That Olay thing is probably irritating your skin. I have THE MOST sensitive skin the world. Anything and everything will make me break out. My skin gets very red and peels and burns if I'm not following my routine every single day. I used to use Retin-A and it made my skin do the same thing yours is doing. Since that is a RX product, I would suggest going back to your dermatologist and asking for a new one. Another problem you may be having is you used it every single day as prescribed. When using a strong acne medication like that, you're supposed to build your way up to it until you adjust to it. (Week 1-use it once or twice, week 2-three times, etc.) He/she can also prescribe you a special lotion that will prevent the peeling and dryness the Retin-A causes. Here's my skin care routine that works wonders on my skin:

I'm on two prescriptions from my dermatologist. Tretinoin Cream .05%, and Monocycline (pill I take twice a day with a meal-otherwise you will get sick from it) I HIGHLY suggest asking your dermatologist about this pill. It cleared my skin up so fast and kept it clear. The cream is meant to to be used all over your face daily, but I use it for spot treatment because I get the big, random zits around my period. I don't have acne all over.

Daily face wash: Bought it at Trader Joe's. I'm not sure if it's all natural, but there's no harsh chemical's or ance-fighting ingredients in it. It just cleans my skin and makes it feel really nice. I use this every morning and ALMOST every night.

The nights that I don't use it: 2-3 times a week, I use Burt's Beeswax Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore scrub. It's 100% natural and removes all the dirt and dead skin. Since it's a scrub, it also removes any peeling or dry skin I have. Since your skin is so irritated right now, I would suggest using this after your skin calms down. The exfoliators might irritate it more.

Moisturizers: In the morning, I use a VERY thin layer of petroleum jelly that was purchased at either Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Those won't clog your pores and it gives you ultimate moisture. Plus, it calms any burning you have. At night, I use Burt's Beeswax Natural Skin Solutions Night Cream. A-MAZ-ING product. It makes my skin silky smooth and keeps it really, really moist. And it smells so good. If you buy it, remember, a little bit goes a long way.

Lastly, if you're like me, I'm sure your peeling skin looks 10x worse when you put makeup on. A little trick I do when my skin is dry, is mix a little foundation with non-scented lotion and apply it normally. Then follow with the rest of your makeup. It gives you the coverage that you need but keeps your skin from peeling even more.

What is the best primer for an oily skin type with wrinkles?

vagabond.

Hello! I am looking for a new primer. My nose is very oily, but I have under-eye wrinkles and laugh lines. I was wondering what primer would be best for my skin type. I really don't want my makeup to settle into my wrinkles anymore, but I need to keep my oiliness under control, and I need my makeup to last. Any suggestions? I don't care if it's drugstore, department store, or Sephora-type makeup, I just need suggestions! Thank you!

Answer
I would consider OLAY Professional Pro-X Wrinkle Smoothing Cream - 1.7 oz.
Product Features
* Pal-KT and Pal-KTTKS Peptides help stimulate cell growth, reduce depth, length and volume of wrinkles, increase skin thickness, decrease overall skin roughness, help correct discoloration and repair sun damaged skin.
* Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) improves the appearance of wrinkles, decreases skin discolorations, lessens redness, reduces sallowness, and improves skin elasticity.

What is the proper way to care for your skin? What is a facial?

For a woman!

What is included in a daily facial/skin care routine?

Does it go like this?

Wash with scrubbing stuff
Wash with facial soap
Wash with cleanser
Put on lotion
Put on eye cream
Put on sunscreen
Put on makeup

How is this supposed to go?

What exactly is a facial anyway?
Can I buy the stuff I need at the store?

Its a surprise for my wife!

Answer
Before we start with the proper daily step-by-step skincare routine, you'll need to know her skin type. How you care for your skin is utterly dependent on the type of skin you have: oily, normal/combination, dry, sensitive or sun- damaged.

The characteristics of skin are:

Normal to Dry:
Normal â Not too oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Dry â Due to sun and age, skin may lack natural oils. May look smooth with fine pores, few blackheads and blemishes.

Normal to Oily:
Normal â Not oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Oily â Shiny and coarse, may have recurring blackheads and enlarged pores, often youthful looking.

Combination:
Oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Normal to dry around cheeks and throat. Can be oily along chin, jaw, temples and dry elsewhere.

Acne/Blemishes:
Generally oily. Blackheads and pimples. Potential scarring and pitting.

Sensitive:
Extremely delicate. Broken capillaries, veins and vessels beneath skin surface. Should not be over stimulated.

Mature:
Fine lines. Loose, âcrépe-likeâ appearance. Loss of elasticity.

After choosing your skin type now we can proceed with the step-by-step for a good skin care regimen. This is my skin care regimen from Arbonne http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com

Step 1: NutriMinC RE9 REnewing Gelée Créme, Hydrating Wash Should be used in the morning and evening.

Step 2: NutriMinC RE9 REveal Facial Scrub or NutriMinC RE9 RElease Deep Pore Cleansing Masque (this is optional to the set) Used after cleansing up to two times per week.

Step 3: NutriMinC RE9 REstoring Mist Balancing Toner Should be used in the morning and evening.

Step 4: NutriMinC RE9 REversing Gelée Transforming Lift
In the morning or on special occasions, wait at least two or three minutes before applying NutriMinC RE9 Reactivating Facial Serum Day & Night.

Step 5: NutriMinC RE9 REactivating Facial Serum Day/ Night
Should be used in the morning and evening, used after RE9 Toner if not using RE9 Lift

Step 6: NutriMinC RE9 REality Day Crème or NutriMinC RE9 Recover Night Crème Day Crème used in the morning, Night Crème in the evening.

Step 7: NutriMinC RE9 REpair Corrective Eye Crème
Should be used in the morning and evening.

Following these steps you will definately give her the best gift ever!!! The amazing results are awesome

I currently use products from The Body Shop, but would like to branch out/use cheaper brands. However, I am concerned about my skin's reaction to products and would like to hear from others. I have used Origins, which I enjoy. My make up remover is Physician's Organic Wear. Drugstore products like Neutrogena are WAY too harsh on my skin.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Answer
My ex girlfriend uses Allmay products. She says the same thing.I wanted to treat her to a day of beauty at Elizabeth Grady and she said all their stuff is too harsh. I got her this Lancome perfume and gift set with beauty products. She wound up throwing out the eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and make up remover because she got a bad reaction to using them.

my hair is really frizzy and its dead from straightening it, i need to start wearing it natural but i need to know good hair products to make my hair look better.

Answer
Frizz happens when dry hair collides with humidity. Those parched, porous strands suck up the excess moisture in the air. As the strands swell, the outer layer (aka cuticle) of your hair lifts. The result: The smooth tresses you left home with this morning are now a ruffled, haywire mess. "As a teenager my hair was pretty frizzy and more damaged," says Natalie Coughlin, a 11-time Olympic medalist for USA Swimming (3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze), who's one-quarter Filipino. She credits a healthful diet, good hair-care products and working with instead of against her hair type for her healthy mane. "It's important that hairstylists shape my layers so that when I do wear it wavy and play up my natural curls it looks good," Coughlin says, adding that leave-in conditioner makes her frizz more manageable.
"But as I've gotten older I've learned to really embrace my hair's natural waves and natural texture rather than constantly straightening it," she says. Use gel like Samy when your hair is damp, scrunch your hair and let air dry, or blow dry using a diffuser concentrating @ the roots. Finger comb, tousle or shake your hair and you're good to go. In the morning, instead of washing them again, spray with water & conditioner, scrunch with your fingers and you're done.

Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies. Natural hair means no relaxer, no chemical to straighten your hair out, no styling heating tools. The way it grows out your root, thatâs the way you rock it.
Always choose a shampoo that's tailored to your hair needs. For example, certain shampoos are created for fine, curly, color treated, or dandruff-prone hair.
Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

CARE: 1. Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge. Shampoo & condition is all you need.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos or conditioners, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo. It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo or conditioner.

2. If you want your hair soft, you can briefly blow dry it, set them in curlers or pin curls them, blow dry, let them cool off, take the curlers &/or pins, finger tousle the hair or brush lightly to style. They will be silky, soft, smooth & shiny (for straight hair).

3. Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling. but mostly from using stretchy chord for stressing the hair.

DIET: If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" or http://gulfnews.com/life-style/beauty-fashion/beauty/best-foods-for-healthy-hair-1.1183522
Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .
RE: HAIR OIL: "You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy, shiny, silky, soft, smooth hair.

At what age did you start wearing makeup?

Chelsea

My ten year old sister wants to start wearing a bit of makeup, is this okay?
If so, what should she wear?
She's in fifth grade.
What age did you start wearing makeup?

Answer
Hey Chelsea,

I've started as early as 10, though i didn't know how to apply it correctly... and well, it looked pretty messy. So one day, i came downstairs after applying lip gloss and eyeliner about 1 centimeter below my eye (that's how i thought it was supposed to look) and my mum just started laughing. She told me that i looked like a pirate and told me to wipe it off, which i did. So, i stopped wearing makeup till i was about 13 years old. When it was my 13th birthday, i was full out barbie doll. Eyeliner, blue and pink eyeshadow, pink lipstick, mascara ... the works. And everyone said i looked so adorable, but i was still too young to be attractive. So, everyone called me "girly" you know .. and i didn't want to be labeled as materialistic or vain at my age. But makeup attracted me and i became dependent on it. Well, when i became 15, i thought ... "wow, look at all these beautiful celebrities that don't wear makeup." Such as Natalie Portman and so... And i just told myself to let go of wearing makeup because I was still young .. and I learned that life will become stressful as i go through college, so i decided it was best if i just stopped painting my face. It was a lot easier to enjoy being young than trying to act older than i was, because there is no going back to youth. I still plucked my eyebrows very mildly, painted my nails funky colors, took care of my skin by using moisturizers and cleansers, and styled my hair.

But to this day *which i am in my late teens*, i still don't care much for makeup. Of course, i do wear it for special occasions but to feel special, not to feel sexy.

And, at your sister's age ... a little lipglo

What are some good mens skin care tips?

Q. Hi, there is not too much information out there about mens skin care tips that are not just product reviews. I am looking for a full system or method that will help me cure my acne or at least help my skin look alot better. Thanks.

Answer
Hi there. I agree that there are too many sites that just tell you which products to buy and don't give you quality men's skin care tips. I highly suggest the article in my source, it is all about inside out ways to get perfect skin for men. Men can have a more difficult time with skin care because of hormonal differences, but it's not rocket science. Check it out.

What is the best skin care product that you have found?

Rachael Co

A friend and I are looking into a bunch of different products to review them on a website. It's got make up tips and skin care tips. The problem is we don't know many of today's products. We tried to Google them but that didn't really tell us what ones were used by the everyday person most.

So if you could let us know what you use, how long you've been using it, how you've liked it, and where we can find more information on the product that would be super helpful.

Thanks a ton!

Answer
As odd as this might sound coming from a man, I've learned to love Sculptisse.

What I use: Sculptisse by Leeds Scientific

How long I've been using it: I got it for my wife last year as more of a gag gift. She ended up swearing by it and told me I should try it. I was skeptical at first but after a couple months of her nagging I gave in. It's almost been a year for me and it's been nearly life changing.

How you've liked it: I guess I answered that in the last one. I love it. :)

Where you can find more information: You can visit their site or their company site (both of which I'll post in the sources section) and get all the information you need about Sculptisse.

I have large pores and I also want to fade freckles and make my skin more even in tone. So what are affordable over the counter treatments to do this effectively?

Answer
There were totally 15 moles / black spots on my face and body before, I tried this mole remover and most of my moles were gone right now. But please pay attention, donât over use in order to avoid getting scar. Hope it works for you too.

For more information, please see the following using methods, it is very useful for unwanted moles, beauty marks, black spots.

BRAND NEW DIY MOLE VANISH WART REMOVER
10 ML Skin Care non-Laser Removal

Usage:
(1) Clean the nevus and the area around it, use a toothpick (do not use a cotton stick to tip or wipe) to mix the liquid and sediment, and then tip a little amount of the mole remover and apply it onto the middle of the nevus. The area would turn to white colour after 1 minute. Use alcohol or water to clean the mole area after 10 minutes (If you tip the amount of mole remover properly, you don't have to clean). The mole would peel off (May help with finger) in 8 to 20 days. Repeat the process again until the mole peeling off if the colour of the nevus is dark. (it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON'T TRY on FACE for the first time!)

Is it better to have never used skin care products in your life ?

Lilafay

Because my mother never used any products like scrubs, foaming wash, skin toners, moisturizing creams and her skin is beautiful

my skin is so so, not very uniform and and I'm wondering if should really bother with those products since I'm at a turing point in my life = 24, my skin is still youthful but will get older and older in the years to come, so what is the best thing to do for my skin ?

Answer
Hi Lilafay!

Some people have beautiful skin naturally. It's genetics. For those people their skin looks great throughout their life without needing to use any cosmetics or skin care at all. Then there's the rest of us...

At 24 the best thing for you to do is use an oil-free sunscreen on your face to help guard against sun damage to your skin â the #1 cause of wrinkles.

Next, a simple skin care routine is always the best option. Gentle cleansers and scrubs followed by a hydrating moisturizer. You might also use a product that contains a very light amount of retinol. At your age the introduction of a retinol product may help combat any skin problems and ward off wrinkles.

A consult with a good dermatologist with a skin care clinic is always a good option especially if you want to try the retinol.

Consider having a mini-peel/dermabrasion done either monthly or on a quarterly basis. It really keeps your skin looking healthy.

Hope this helps,
Shy

How to take care of a tattoo, busy schedule?

ThisWoman

I love tattoos, I'm a scratcher in training from my friends mom (her ex taught her how to do tattoos) she recommends I wear shorts to take care of it fully but I work after school at McDonald's and we have to wear uniforms, I go to school at 7am, get out at 3, then get to work until 10 pm right after school. Could I cover it with anything to keep it saturated? I have a thigh piece but the color didn't stay on too well. I might go over it again soon. Any help? My tattoo on my wrist stayed on good since I don't wear long sleeved shirts.

Answer
You can cover it with saran wrap, which is what a lot of shops/artists do after you get a big color piece. Do not wear shorts! Especially if it's sunny where you live, the sun/heat will make the color fade and it won't heal the way you want it to. It's best to keep it covered, clean, and moisturized. When you get out of the shower, lotion up; make sure your skin/the area isn't dry.

I'm seeking a manager to send information to about being a local vendor for their store. The product I have works and is patented in the health/beauty area. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get in and is having a hard time finding someone to give me a chance. Please answer if you know a person or you could help. Thank-you in advance.
Thanks for your responses, to BCNU It was just issued a patent and it has not yet been published. It maybe published in the next month or two. I haven't sent the product to anyone yet, just called a few numbers for the buyer's info and they just said they aren't looking for new products as of now.
To me thanks for your response I will try that and hopefully someone at least looks at it and gives me a chance to pitch it. It is made in the USA and internet sales are great. In this business it's all about who you know, and who will give you the opportunity.

Answer
No one at the store can choose you as a local vendor. You must contact Walgreens corporate and talk to a bid contractor. From there they'll help you get your products into the store if they so choose to carry them. Call 1-800-Walgreens.

I want to get my hair, body, skin, smile, etc, in shape by February?

nblsoccerg

Basically, I want to try to get clear, healthy skin, healthy and hopefully glossy hair, un-chapped lips, try to look fairly fit, but by the middle of February. I know it's not a ton of time, but does anyone have any tips at all for things I can try? Anything from dietary changes and supplements (nothing drastic or potentially harmful, please) home health and beauty remedies, store bought things of the same nature, exercise ideas, so on and so forth. Please, all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Answer
To get in shape, you will have to work out. If you never work out, start slow - walk outside or on the treadmill for as long as you can stand it. Also lift weights (don't just do cardio.) If you are relatively thin and just want to get leaner, try yoga or pilates.

Supplements will NOT take the place of getting a good nights' sleep and eating well/avoiding junk food. Your best bet is simply to take a multi-vitamin.

For good skin, moisturizing is key. Moisturize your body at least 3 minutes after you get out of the bath/shower, and use a cream (which usually comes in a pot) versus a lotion (which usually comes in a bottle with a pump). Hot water strips your skin of natural oils, and it's essential to replace those oils immediately. Also moisturize your face when you go to bed with a light moisturizer made for your face. I usually use Oil of Olay.

For your hair - if it's dry, use a hair mask/deep conditioner, or something like VO-5 hot oil, once a week or once every couple weeks. Also be sure to sometimes use a clarifying shampoo and conditioner, because they remove build-up. I have normal-to-dry hair, and I have 2 sets of shampoos and conditioners: one that is moisturizing (since it's winter) and one that is 'clarifying'--basically one that looks like a gel instead of creamier (I use Pantene Pro-V Ice.) Usually I use the clarifying shampoo if my hair looks like it's getting dull (which is usually from shampoo/conditioner buildup.) Invest in decent hair products.

If you straighten or blow dry your hair, use a heat protection spray. Heat can totally damage your hair.

Get regular haircuts to keep your hair healthy and avoid split ends.

If you want to whiten your teeth (most girls want to--and should), start using Crest Whitestrips.

To get smoother lips, you should actually exfoliate them. Just use a damp washcloth--or, better yet, get a soft toothbrush and dip it in Vaseline, and gently 'massage' your lips (as needed.) That will get rid of flaky, dry, dead skin. Try to use lip products that aren't drying and don't contain things like Menthol (a drying ingredient.) Stick to products like Vaseline or Bag Balm (my FAVORITE thing in the world - seriously amazing - you can get it at places like CVS) and put it on constantly.

Get a humidifier for your room and make sure to use it when you sleep. Winter weather=dry air, and dry air=chapped lips and dry/dull skin.

what are some starter reptiles for kids?

gummy bear

i have a seven year old cousin that is browsing the market for a "starter reptile" does anyone know some cheap reptiles that kids can take care of? if you have any suggestions email me @ lillian.radford@yahoo.com or answer to this question..

Answer
The easiest way to cut costs for reptiles is by finding an animal which doesn't need live food (some geckos, turtles, newts, aquatic frogs), finding an animal which doesn't require heating and/or UVB lighting (some geckos, nocturnal lizards and frogs, newts and salamanders), or an animal which doesn't require any of those.

Crested Geckos: These guys are nocturnal and thrive at room temperatures of 65-80. They don't require live insects for feeding and will eat a powder mix called Crested Gecko Diet which can be found at many pet stores, reptile stores, and Amazon.com. Each gecko is different from another, even those from the same mother. For this reason, they are fairly expensive if purchased from someone who can properly assess their value (basically any store which is not a generic pet store). Babies are a lot cheaper since their colors haven't come in, but it's hard to find a good adult with more unusual coloration for under $100. However not everyone cares about the colors, so this place is a good place to buy if you don't: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/animals/other-geckos/. It is important for this particular species to note that their tails DO NOT regrow if dropped. For this reason, it is best to keep them in one gecko per tank to minimize stress.

Gargoyle Geckos: Virtually the same care as Crested Geckos although they prefer live insects and will regrow their tails. They also have fewer color variations, really sticking more with dark blacks, grays, and browns than the orange, green, red, and yellow you can find with Crested Geckos. As a result, they're generally a little cheaper. They are however very hard to find at non-generic pet stores.

Leopard Geckos: Nocturnal, but they do require live insects and a higher temperature gradient (75-100). These are probably the easiest to handle as they don't move very fast. As a note, although they are called geckos, they cannot climb walls. For this reason, any tank for them should be long rather than tall (as is with Crested and Gargoyle), something which usually saves some money. They are also one of the few gecko species which will eat many types of worms such as mealworms and waxworms, but they also will not eat any fruit-based products. They also have lots of color morphs and variations, but it's a lot easier to find a "normal" one for under $50. These are the most common gecko at generic stores although it's easy to find them at good prices at reptile stores or reptile expos.

Bearded Dragons: Diurnal, they require UVB light and also need a high temperature gradient (80-110). They are pretty easily handled when they have been acclimated to the owner. Young ones are easy to find, but also incredibly heavy eaters, the recommended feeding amount being anywhere from 20-100 crickets per day just to stay on track with the standard growth curve. Adults should be fed a primarily vegetable diet which makes it easier, but many have to have been raised on vegetables as juveniles to acquire a taste and this is not always the case. They also require much larger tanks than any of the geckos, at least 50 gallons to be safe. A long tank is also preferable.

Salamander: This is pretty generic, but they tend to have the same care. Tiger and Fire are the most common, but they're nearly impossible to find at a generic and even hard to find at reptile stores or expos. These guys are very hardy (Fires can take temperatures down to 55) and also long-lived (they live for 50 years). Even though they are technically newts, they cannot swim, but do like a large water bowl to sit and soak in. They all require live foods, but not as much as a traditional lizard as they tend not to move very much, so they have low metabolisms and will get obese if you feed them too much. They do require much more moist habitats than other reptiles and amphibians because they breath through their skin. A salamander in the water bowl all day is a bad sign.

Newts: This is also pretty generic, but they're all similar as well. A fish tank setup works pretty well, but usually the water level can be lowered to half of the tank height or less. This usually depends on how high the water has to be on the filter for the filter to run. Newts are also very hardy (Spanish-Ribbed will take down to freezing) and are moderately long-lived (20-25 years). They do swim, so just providing a water bowl is not sufficient. They will eat the traditional newt pellets and sticks, although larger species may go for live fish and earthworms. The most common is the Fire-Bellied Newt or the Paddle-Tailed Newt, both of which are usually more common in generic pet stores than reptile stores because profit margins on both are very low.

How do you go about launching your own skin care line?

Paradise

Do you have to go to school for it? It's something I've always wanted to do however, I'm absolutely HORRIBLE at the sciences/math. It's stressful. But I've always had skin issues growing up and would like to help others in advising what to use and stuff. I'd like my own skin care line.

If you don't need school, how do you start?

Answer
You would have to have some eduation, and experience to back up your progress. You can't just open up your own line and be like "hey, this stuff works for me! It might work for you too." , because certain people are allergic to different things. For instance, I have mild urticaria (exema) and its a skin condition in which the skin reacts to an allergic reaction to something. My skin swells up and it gets like hives on it. In order to specialize in any part of the skin industry, you would have to go to school and major in dermatology which is the she study of the physiology and pathway of the skin. I would say about 2 years would be the required amount of school to open up your own skin line. I use benadril or zyrtec to help my skin condition, and I've only had it for 6 months. I'm only seventeen, and I'm sitting here saying why does this have to happen to me? I don't deserve this, but let me tell you: it can happen to "anyone". I've lived for seventeen years without any skin problems and then boom it hits me. It's not really a big deal, my skin will just turn red and swollen and then it dissapears within minutes. But for your skin care line, I guarantee that you will need some education to open it up. Put yourself in the customers shoes, "would you want to apply something to your skin that you have no idea what it may do to your skin, and knowing that the seller has no education or not enough education about the product?"- No, I don't think you would want to apply that to your skin. I sure wouldn't apply something to my skin, or much less even purchase a skin care product from anyone that didn't go to school to obtain the information and knowledge about the skin care product. So go to school for it, and then you can open up a skin care line. You could possibly try to open one without any knowlegde but I think thats illegal and youre business wouldnt last. Now if you went to school and obtained a degree in dermatology or something of the skin nature, then I would bet a dollar to weak old donut you would make a killing :)

Hope all this helps. Try googling it next time. Do some research on skin and see what you can learn about it. You would be amazed because I sure was when I had to learn about it.

Good Luck:)

When do women normally start putting on weight in pregnancy and how much at each stage?

SmEllY!

Just wondering because I am 17 weeks and 4 kg less than when I was 6 weeks pregnant. It is a good thing that I have lost the weight as I was fat to begin with (put on 40 kilos last pregnancy) and have been trying to keep weight under control.

Answer
You might want to check out http://www.postpregnancyhealth.com/. It offers great insight to pregnancy dieting and fitness, fitness after pregnancy, health and nutrition, nursing, bottle-feeding, anything you can imagine. It is just delivers really positive and encouraging ways to lose baby weight. The site has a lot of great ideas and ways of many things including weight gain during and after pregnancy, helping women get their confidence back after having a baby, and all sorts of exercises and things you can do. I went to this site constantly after having my baby- and I firmly believe in it... I lost an incredible amount of weight (mostly baby fat) from just taking her advice. She gives wonderful recommendations on products, fitness, and nutrition. Just really basic, healthy, ânon-fadâ ways to get back into shape and start feeling great again after your baby! The woman who developed the site is really motivational and tells women really great suggestions and instructions on how to tone and firm through proper, (but normal) eating and exercising. She also has information on great foods, skin and beauty care. I think youâll really like it. I hope I helped answer your question!

Lisa Magro

Also if you have any tips for good skin care, such as any foods I can eat that will help clear skin. Any websites that give good tips?

Thanks:)

Answer
6 things must be done EVERYDAY to reduce/prevent acne: 1)Wash, Tone, Moisturize Face 2 or 3 Times 2)Don't Let Dirty Things Touch Face 3)Eat Healthy Food, Limit Junk Food 4)Take Multi Vitamin Mineral 5)Drink About 64 oz Pure Water 6)Do 20 to 30 Min Aerobic Exercise. Doing 1 or a few of these will NOT keep skin clear as possible!

Must use 3 things on face: Wash, Toner, Moisturizer. Do this at least 2x a day, morning & night (possibly 3rd time, midday, if super oily/sweating). Products that work for one person may not work for another person, so always do small patch test on face for a couple of days to see how skin will react to product! Don't quickly jump from product to product! Give skin a break before trying new product to prevent irritation! Natural & gentle products are sometimes more effective than acne medicine!

NATURAL & GENTLE: Wash face with warm water & Purpose Gentle Cleansing Bar by Johnson & Johnson. Tone face with Witch Hazel (Thayers or Dickinson's) or Homemade Toner. Witch Hazel reduces bacteria/swelling, minimizes size of skin pores, helps acne. Make toner by mixing 1 part Organic Apple Cider Vinegar With The Mother (Bragg Organic Apple Cider) with 5 parts pure water. Test small area! If burns/to drying, use more water! Use at least 1 part water! Less Water = Stronger, More Drying Formula. This vinegar kills bacteria, absorbs excess oil, dries out pimples, lightens scars, refines skin tone. Don't use other types of vinegar, will damage skin! Moisturize face with Lily Of The Desert Aloe Vera Gelly, its 99% organic, contains vitamin A, C, E! Aloe vera helps renew skin cells, heals blemishes/scars. Don't use other brands of aloe, has very little aloe & to much junk in it which can irritate skin!

ACNE MEDICINE: Try 1 of these active ingredients for a period of time to see if skin improves: Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid, Sulfur, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid. Try acids by Perfect Peel Solutions, Cellbone Technology, Skin Laboratory, Alpha Hydrox/Neoteric Cosmetics. Acid heals acne, cyst, scars! If over the counter medicine doesn't work, see doctor to get stronger medicine.

FACE PRODUCTS & MAKEUP: Only use oil free products that won't clog pores! Using a Makeup Finish or Makeup Setting Spray (Skindinavia, Model In A Bottle, Sephora) will give you shine-free skin all day! Old makeup, makeup tools harbor bacteria, Use fresh makeup, wash/replace tools often! Wash makeup off face before going to bed!

FACE MASK can be done once a week. Make mask by mixing plain oatmeal with water. Oatmeal is soothing, absorbs excess oil, makes skin smoother. Wash face with warm water, apply mask. Leave on for 20 min or until it dries. Rinse off with warm water, Apply toner & moisturizer.

HANDS-HAIR-STUFF: Keep dirt & bacteria at bay to prevent more breakouts! Don't touch face with hands, Don't let phone nor dirty oily hair touch face, Don't lean face on objects, Clean glasses often, Wash pillowcase, sheets, blanket, washcloth, towel often. Always wash hands before applying face products!

KEEP MOVING: Aerobic Exercise, Face Massage, Dry Skin Brushing increases circulation & delivery of nutrients to skin cells, encourages good blood supply, helps remove toxins, controls acne breakouts! Do 20to30 min of exercise, everyday or every other day! For outstanding results, do all 3 activities, everyday! When exercising, drink water & immediately take a shower to remove sweat & dirt! For face massage, wash hands & face, apply toner, use aloe vera as massage gel. Do 10 min massage before going to bed. Don't wash face again, let aloe dry on face. Buy any book on face massage like the, Ten Minute Facelift by Jennie Harding. Dry Skin Brushing must be done correctly & carefully, read book, Dr. Berkowsky's Vital Chi Skin Brushing System by Bruce Berkowsky! Never brush delicate face! Take shower after brushing to wash off dead skin & dirt!

DIET & LIFESTYLE: Research has shown that there is a connection between certain kinds of food & acne! Read book The Clear Skin Diet by Alan C. Logan & Valori Treloar! This book has detailed info on what to eat and not to eat to help reduce/prevent acne! Always eat healthy food - fruit, vegetables, lean meat, fiber, beans, wholegrains, foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids, zinc, vitamin A & C. Limit intake of frozen meals, dairy, milk, fat, oil, butter, greasy/fried foods, sugar, candy, salt, dessert, caffeine, coffee, pop, alcohol. Always avoid cigarettes, tobacco, illegal drugs! Its hard to get all vitamins minerals skin needs, so take supplement everyday! Overdosing on vitamins minerals from food or supplements is dangerous! Drinking about 64 oz of pure water everyday improves skin quality, flushes out toxins, delivers nutrients to skin! You can also include 100% Fruit Juice as part of your daily total. Acne can be caused or aggravated by constipation, make sure bow movements are regular! Getting enough sleep helps skin repair itself!

What are some good face washes and moisturisers for teenagers?

fish ftw

My skin's normal although I do get the occasional spot and lots of blackheads.

Answer
None. But I've used Oil of Olay the orig. pink bottle for years, but I've not used moisturizer for 3 years.

Any kind of facial wash, you're leaving something toxic behind, it's not a matter of convenience, it's a billion dollar business that can do more harm than good to your acne. And sometimes we feel entirely virtuous about our skin-care regimen because it's full of SPF-- all year round!-- and cleansers and such. But the truth is, we may not realize that we're overdoing (or underdoing) something that can lead to the very thing we're trying to avoid: dryness, breakouts, accelerated aging, New York dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf. (I've been giving this same advice for decades, but she's proof enough!).
Take a shower everyday, use washcloth to exfoliate and bath & body wash. Hydrogen peroxide does wonders for acne. Visit their website for more tips & other uses. ONLY $1.

Acne medication could worsen what ever allergies you have, so instead of trying out one product after another, you're actually spreading it around.
The less products you use, the better for your skin. Use a bath & body wash like Suave, Irish Spring, Dove Body & Face wash in the shower, use a washcloth. Treat your face like the rest of your body, take a shower everyday or wash your face everyday.

The secret is keeping your face clean and oil-free. I also don't use liquid on my face for anything, and very little moisturizer, not even a dime size. Since my face is not dry. Good skin also comes from your good genes. Increase your fresh fruits & vegetables 3-5 servings per day. And programmed your mind to d

I really want a gradual tanning mosturiser that looks natural. What ones should i avoid and which are best?

Answer
I love the Loreal self-tanning gel, which, when applied with some rubber gloves, gives an absolutely perfect glow. But what I'd recommend? Check out the self-tanning beauty guide from Women's Health magazine. Its editors got streaked and bronzed for us all (hard life, huh?). See WH's tips and reviews from product testers here. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/beauty-and-style/best-self-tanners

These are WH's top moisturizer or gradual tan picks:
For Fair Skin: Dove Energy Glow body lotion ($10 for 13.5 oz, drugstore.com)
For Dry Skin: Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream ($40 for 3.9 oz, clarinsusa.com)
For Your Face: Declor Aroma Sun SPF 10 Hydrating Tinted SelfTanning GelCream ($36 for 1.69 oz, sephora.com)
For an Intense Gradual Tan: Jergens Natural Glow Express ($7.50 for 4 oz, drugstore.com)
For Traveling: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze SelfTanning Towelettes for Body ($10 for 6 wipes, drugstore.com)

And also look into Shiseido Brilliant Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Gel for Face and Body ($28 for 5.4 oz). This turned out to be a WH fave.

I'm just curious because I'm concerned my daughter tans way too often and her skin is always so red. I think she's becoming obsessed with it, what's worse is she works at a tanning salon so she can do it for free. Any advice?

Answer
OMG !!! talk to her !! my best friend had to tske serious medications!!
tell your daughter these facts and shell never tan again
No Safe Tan
Ever since fashion empress Coco Chanel sported her new tan after a yachting
vacation in the 1920s, many Americans have equated tanned skin with good
health, great wealth, leisure time, social status, beauty, and high fashion.

In the January 1991 issue of Vanity Fair magazine, writer Bob Colacello
interviews Hollywood heartthrob George Hamilton. Hamilton may well be most
famous for his perpetual tan, which Colacello describes as perfect, not too
shiny or too dull, not too orange or too brown, but the same cinnamon wash
he's had since he was sixteen.

During a television program, Hamilton tells viewers of how he grabs a tan
whenever and wherever he can. One can only wonder why Hamilton and others
like him have ignored the outpouring of information in the last decade from
such sources as the Food and Drug Administration and the American Academy of
Dermatology, the National Cancer Institute, and the American Cancer Society,
which have been repeated by many fashion magazines. With a consistent
message, experts are warning Americans of the hazards of exposure to
ultraviolet radiation, the sun's UVA and UVB wavelengths. These imperil all
sun worshippers regardless of natural skin color in ways that Coco Chanel
could never have imagined.

To understand why sun damages, says Warwick Morison, M.D., associate
professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins University, think of yourself
sitting unprotected on the beach for four hours. This sunbathing process
kills skin cells by UV radiation and alters the function of collagen and
elastin, the connective tissue in the skin. It also causes blood vessels to
dilate. That's why people turn red, he says. Days after you leave the beach
burnt and blistered, you lose a layer of skin as it peels off. You may even
freckle as a result of local changes in pigment cells. And those are only
the acute, immediate changes.

Even tanning slowly and carefully is dangerous. Darrell Rigel, M.D.,
clinical assistant professor of dermatology at New York University,
Manhattan, maintains, There's no such thing as a safe tan. That's the key
point. You have to think about why you tan. The body senses that it is being
injured by UV radiation and, to protect itself, it produces melanin.
(Melanin is the body's natural sun block, the dark pigment that skin cells
produce to block out damaging rays and that cause tanning.)

But further damage occurs at the cellular level, he explains. When the sun
hits the skin, the DNA in the skin cells gets distorted. Think of the DNA
in the cell as a spiral staircase," he says. What happens is that the two
chains of the DNA are no longer connected and the stairs go off at a funny
angle. Normal people have the enzyme that attempts to repair the damage.?
But, he adds, the repair is never total; some damage always remains, and it
accumulates over the years.

While the immediate harm, the burning, blistering and peeling, is painful,
what people should fear are the long-term consequences of regular sun
exposure and tanning those skin and other body changes that may appear as
many as 20 or 30 years later, long after even the memories of carefree days
of sunbathing have faded. Skin cancer is one consequence.

Most experts attribute the dramatic rise in skin cancers to America?s love
affair with the sun and to Americans' changed lifestyles that put people
outdoors for longer periods, for more months of the year, and often in
skimpier outfits that leave more skin exposed.

Skin Cancer Increases

There are three main types of skin cancer: melanoma, basal-cell carcinoma,
and squamous-cell carcinoma. The deadliest of these is melanoma, but
squamous-cell carcinoma is also a killer, and the most common form of skin
cancer among black Americans, reports Ted Rosen, M.D., associate professor
of dermatology, Baylor College of Medicine at Houston.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 600,000 people were
diagnosed with basal-cell and squamous-cell carcinomas in 1990, up from
400,000 in 1980. Thirty-five thousand more were diagnosed with melanoma in
1990.

The rate of melanomas has doubled in less than a decade, says Vincent DeLeo,
M.D., assistant professor and director of environmental dermatology,
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Manhattan. It's already the number
one cancer in young women under 35. And it's increasing rapidly. If not
removed in the earliest stages, deadly melanomas do not carry a very good
prognosis.

Melanomas can metastasize and appear in many sites, says Paul Bergstresser,
M.D., chairman of the department of dermatology, University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. Or they can migrate down the lymph
system and can be in adjacent sites, so even if the original melanoma is

I'd like to take my 59 year old father to visit Europe next May and July. He has never been to Europe before and I would like to take him on a grand tour. One that covers Spain, France, Italy ect. He's in great shape so I'm sure he could handle a 3 to 4 week tour. Can anybody recommend a company? Or share some expeiences? Thanks!
I'm a law student and have finals in late April and early May. The tour would have to begin no earlier than mid May. I'm hopeing to plan this for 2008

Answer
I'm afraid 3 to 4 weeks is not sufficient time to cover some of the major sites and places of interest in Europe, even with a limited itinerary.
One other factor is what things will both interest you.
Assuming you come from the States, Spain or France can be your starting points.
Respectively, two days in Madrid will just about cover Prado Museum (a must) and a tour of the city.
Two days in Barcelona (visit Los Carracoles-memorable) city tour and rest, then one day more in Granada (Alhambra), one day in Seville.Spent a night by the river and the bars and restaurants there.Spain, with the between traveling is just about a week and a half.
France is the city most admired by Americans and they are quite right. A full week is enough to savor the colour and beauty of it and any other city you care to visit. Problem with English though, few people will decide to speak it.
A journey memorable, especially if the weather is good, is from Paris to Milan by train through Switzerland. Arrange for day passage on the Swiss segment. I did it three times and each one was better than the previous. A couple of days in MIlan are more than enough, then on to Rome and Naples. On to Venice for a day or two and the ferry from there to Patras Greece. Two day journey and about three hours drive to Athens. Two to three days will cover enough sightseeing and possibly a small cruise to nearby islands. The next place of visit is Vienna Austria, also of two to three days stay and then Praque in Czech Republic. May is the perfect time for it. Two to three days. If you have Jewish interests then Poland is a must and is a couple days stay. Last but no least, is Amsterdam in the Netherlands , two more days?
I left England out since you did not suggested it, but certainly a must in a European visit. Main places of interest at least three days. If you have some Irish in you, then the green island of St Patric waits for you.
I wish I was going with you, but although I am your fathers age, health problems are a major drawback. I hope you enjoy your trip which ever wat you plan it and that it can be memorable to you and your father.

I am starting my own skin care company and I was wondering if any of you might know what the average discount in percentage is for selling products to stores when they buy wholesale/bulk. Plus if you have any tips for how to work with beauty supply stores, all help is appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
Most of them give a 10% discount.. Otherwise, when its more, you have to buy more than say $50 and you'll get 25% off on the products you buy..

What exactly are "ethnic hair/skin care products"?

smartchick

I am sending care packages to soldiers overseas. Some of the African American female soldiers have requested ethnic skin and hair care products. Seeing as I have to slather myself in SPF 50 before greeting the sun and live in a pretty white-bread area, I have no idea what this means. What is the difference between ethnic hair products and non-ethnic hair products?? And where can I get ethnic hair and skin care products? Anyone want to help a pale sister out?

Answer
First off that is really nice of you to be sending care packages. Good job. Anyways if you go to Target or Harris Teeter ad go to the hair/skin care isle (ya know where they sell shampoo and stuff) there should be a whole section of ethnic beauty products. It should have a sign above it that says "ethnic hair care" or something like that. But ya ethnic products are just for African American people and stuff. Good luck!
