what are the best products for very acne prone, oily skin? i break out a lot around my period, by the way.

currently, i use St. Ives Naturally Clear Apricot Cleanser twice a day and St. Ives Apricot Scrub 3 times a week, and a 2% Salicylic Acid Astringent after every wash.

Answer
In my opinion, you are using far too much. Each of your products utilizes an exfoliating agent, both chemical and manual. And daily exfoliating can be detrimental to the skin.

Also, most people find that by using products designed for oily and/or acne-prone skin, their skin becomes MORE oily and MORE acne-prone.

I can't recommend any products specifically because I'm currently trying a water-only method (wipe my face down every morning with a wet cotton pad), as I found that even gentle products bothered my skin. I'd recommend going to review websites like http://www.makeupalley.com though to see what others like. You could also check out the acne.org forum (I post there myself) and see what others use - many people place their products of use in their signatures, and there is also a small review section.

Most people also find that once they stop using products to treat their skin, their acne heals much faster. So you might want to just use a hydrating cleanser on its own, and exfoliate with a different scrub (perhaps just brown sugar) no more than once a week if you do not have active inflamed acne.

laws on operate a laser machine for skin care?

Labels:

Jimmy

I need Information on license to operate a laser machine to remover age spot, on face, hand and tattoos removal. What kind of license do I need? Anyone owns a beauty salon with such a machine should know? Thanks you much.

Answer
The laws and required license vary from state to state. In CA it is illegal for a beauty salon to own and operate a laser to remove age spots and tattoos as mentioned above. A Med Spa may perform these types of procedures, with a physician on staff. What kind of license do you need? It depends on what state you live in. You could be required to be a physician, RN, cosmetologist, aesthetician/esthetician, or some states allow a certified laser technician. I suggest you check with your Medical Board, and Board of Cosmetology.

skin troubles... help!!!! :o?

Q. kay, well im 15 and i eat healthy and everything and exercise and stuff but the thing is i have these REALLY noticeable blue veins underneath my eyes. my friend says i look like a vampire. :o :(. i really hate them, and im staring to get some on the side of my chin. and i HATE it. :'( i feel disgusting. and i dont want laser or anything like that, nor makeup. I'm just wondering is there some kind of cream that would make it go away? or am i screwed. :'( thanks.

Answer
There is an epidemic of under eye bags and circles and pronounced veins and many are reported by those in teens or early twenties. The main reason is reaction to skin sickening toxins in skin care, cosmetic and skin medicating products. Many teenage girls use 20 or more products daily and an alarming number of products contain skin(and health) harming toxins. See this site Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. A Feelgood Resource. The Database tested many thousands of products and identifies which ones are the most harming and those which are non or only minimally harming. So first thing to do is select the none or less harming products.

Then try these safe, natural, tried and tasted treatments that can quickly get rid of them. They really work and have helped many on Answers

This is a response I received from wannabeblue28:
âHi Mukunda M. I have just been rubbing my face with oil using my fingers and hands and It has made a HUGE difference in my complexion after just one night. â¦â¦ My skin looks so much tighter everywhere and i no longer have bags under my eyes! Thank you so much for your post, I have been suffering with acne and under-eye circles since i was young.â

She had seen an answer I gave about how vigorous face massaging with pure natural oils had permanently rid my face of acne AND removed under eye problems. Massage greatly tightens skin under and around the eye area and they go away. Find Answer with a search "Mukunda M vigorous massage to remove eye bags/circles under eye problems

The most helpful ones are:
(Using both hands together) massage with palms and front of fingers held together
(1) Do long up and down sweeps close to nose from chin area up to near eyes.
(2) Do another up and back at an angle from chin point to cheek bone.
(3) Do fast up and down massage close to eye from cheek bones at an angle of 45 degrees (on your crows feet).
Best if do for several minutes daily â will markedly tighten skin in eye area and diminish the circles in the first two or three days. Use any oil. Olive is good.
IMPORTANT: To avoid skin pulling first make facial skin taught by partially opening mouth and pulling lips firmly back against teeth (tightens most of face)

Use any natural oil. Extra virgin olive oil works well for many.
Additionally facial yoga exercises help a great deal. Find on You Tube. Do the âThe lion faceâ and try to hold for 30 seconds. A variation of that is protruding the tongue as if trying to touch tip of nose with tip of tongue.

YOGA MEDITATION is a great help and is easy to do. It enables you to completely relax and gives you deep, restful sleep. 6 or 7 hours of restful sleep is considerably more beneficial than 8 or 9 more hours of non restful sleep. I found Siddha Yoga meditation was the most beneficial.

do a lot of black women wear wigs? (10pts)?

Labels:

Q. I am asking this question as an african american woman myself
I have been natural my whole 20 years of living

but I'm sick of the maintenance my hair takes, AND was recently turned down from a job (later to find out it was because of my hair) so I have been looking at alternatives, such as relaxer, weave etc

and then i stumbled into the world of lacefront wigs!!!

I feel deprived and excited at the same time...I am eager to wear one and see if the world treats me differently with more "acceptable" hair
I am also eager to try out a new look.

I'm just worried about people judging me and being able to tell its not real...

I was just wondering if most black women usually wear wigs and feel comfortable with it?

what are some opinions?

Answer
Yes, according to the study, 326 African-American women answered questionnaires about their hair-grooming methods, health status, and other demographic information. Dermatologists then performed a scalp examination to grade hair loss.
Nearly 60% of the women showed signs of advanced central hair loss with scarring. The women were also more likely to have type 2 diabetes and bacterial scalp infections, and sport hair styles associated with traction, including braids and weaves, the study showed.

BECAUSE: HAIR WEAVES & BRAIDS: Some hairstyles, including tight braids and weaves, may increase the risk of developing an irreversible form of scarring hair loss, according to a new study in the Archives of Dermatology.
Seen predominately in African-American women, this type of hair loss, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, centers on the vertex (crown) of the scalp and spreads peripherally.
âAny style that causes too much tension and traction on the hair, such as braiding with artificial hair weaved in, can possibly lead to scarring hair loss,â says study author Angela Kyei, MD, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
âBut hair loss is permanent, meaning that we can inject steroids or creams but it won't bring your hair back, so itâs very important to seek help with dermatologists early on,â she says.

Google: Rhonda Lee. Copied & pasted from her getting fired @ the KTBS station.
"I am very proud of my African-American ancestry which includes my hair. For your edification: traditionally our hair doesn't grow downward. It grows upward."
"Many Black women use strong straightening agents in order to achieve a more European grade of hair and that is their choice. However in my case I don't find it necessary."
"I'm very proud of who I am and the standard of beauty I display. As women we come in all shapes, sizes, nationalities, and levels of beauty."
"Showing little girls that being comfortable in the skin and HAIR God gave me is my contribution to society," the TV personality concluded.
Watch: Good Hair - Documentary by Chris Rock 2009. or Tyra Banks What is Good Hair. Black women spend 80% of all hair products. She's got good advice!
Michael âRahniâ Flowers, who served as Obamaâs hairstylist in Chicago for more than 20 years, knows full well the importance great hair plays in a womanâs lifeâand so does Michelle, he says. âSheâs always taken very good care of her hair,â Flowers explains. âHaving beautiful hair is such a sign of health and attractiveness, particularly for black women, because their hair tends to be very fragile, and it needs extra care. Having it look good at all times is an amazing feat in itself. âSheâs never been the kind of woman that obsessed over hair and makeup too much.â
"For many black women, the idea of wearing their hair naturally is unbearableâ, said: Award winning and author of âHalf of a Yellow Sunâ, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, newest novel âAmericanahâ that includes the detail descriptions of black women having their hair done and also to give a brief description of her own hair.

symmetrical your face, is this true?

rockybould

Is it true if I were to relax my neck muscles, relax my jaw and let it hang but have my mouth closed with my tongue resting at the bottom of my mouth and my eyes fixed forward in a stare that in about 2 to 3 months my face could get more symmetrical? And by chewing more often on the side of my face with the smaller jaw muscle help too?

If that's not true can you help me out with some advice?
And is it true that if I eat healthier and drink water it will help as well?

Answer
Symmetry equals sex

Starting at conception, the human body develops by neatly splitting cells. If every division were to go perfectly, the result would be a baby whose left and right sides are mirror images. But nature doesn't work that way. Genetic mutations and environmental pressures skew symmetry, and the results have lifelong implications.

Studies revealed that men who were more symmetrical started having sex three to four years earlier and had more sex partners than their asymmetrical counterparts.

Good symmetry shows that an individual has the genetic goods to survive development, is healthy, and is a good and fertile choice for mating.

It makes sense to use symmetry variation in mate choice. If you choose a perfectly symmetrical partner and reproduce with them, your offspring will have a better chance of being symmetric and able to deal with perturbations.

The beauty of symmetry

Can your looks be measured by a mathematical ratio? Studies show that "beautiful" people actually are just "more proportional" people

Everyone knows the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover." But we can't help it; we do just that, day in and day out, consciously and subconsciously. We rate others on the basis of their appearance and compare our own looks with the enhanced images of beautiful women and handsome men in movies and magazines and on TV and billboards

Widespread studies confirm that beauty is simply balance: The more symmetrical a face, the more appealing it appears. The concept applies to bodies, too. Physical symmetry is subconsciously perceived as a reflection of a person's youth, fertility, health and strength. And although bilateral (left-right) symmetry might not be a bona fide health certificate these days, it has been a marker of good health and genes throughout human evolution.

Not everyone seeking symmetry goes under the knife Creating symmetry is all about using light, dark and reflection.essential points of light on the face by mixing Vaseline with eye shadow and foundation. Light can soften the face, give it dimension and make it look more moist. If you want to take 10 years off your age, try a foundation with shimmer or just put a light-reflective cream on your crow's-feet.

The results showed that facial symmetry in men, but not women, was linked to the effects of ageing on mental processes.

Examples of men with a high degree of facial symmetry include the actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Jude Law

Questionnaires revealed that men who were more symmetrical started having sex three to four years earlier and had more sex partners than their asymmetrical counterparts.

Men with symmetrial faces are less likely to lose their intelligence and memory in later life, according to researchers.

Facial symmetry, the researchers argued, may indicate a man has experienced fewer genetic and environmental disturbances such as diseases, toxins, malnutrition or genetic mutations during his development

The team was unable to find comparable results in women.

One explanation suggested by the researchers was that DNA has a different effect on ageing among women. Another theory was that mental decline is delayed in women because, on average, they live longer

We have found that someone's face can send out a wealth of signals about what they are like. We have also found a remarkable consistency in peopleâs preferences for faces

A person's health might be reflected in their facial symmetry. Symmetry reflects the ability to grow straight despite all of life's challenges, including infection and stress. Symmetrical faces are good all round: they are considered beautiful, they have betterlooking skin, and symmetrical people even smell nicer

Is eco health and beauty any good?

Labels:

David

I stumbled upon their website, and they seem to have a variety of designer mens' colognes that have been 'modified' to be eco friendly. My questions are: are they any good and how long do they last?
Here is the website: http://www.ecoperfumeandcologne.com/shop/

Answer
In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely.
Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this isn't in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law.

Don't believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." ~ Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive.
"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.

What does a skin care specialist/Esthetician do??

Labels:

Jess!

Where can you take a liscense for skin care?? What do you do?? Is it like a dermatologist?? I'm so confused!!

Answer
A Dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diseases of the dermis (skin and subcutaneous tissue.)

A skin care specialist is someone with training in superficial skin care - they do not have the education or authority to diagnose or treat skin diseases (skin cancer, psoriasis, excema, moles, etc.) They are Estheticians only. Esthetics means appearance. An Esthetician is a specialist in making your external skin LOOK good. They are trained to assess skin conditioning, elasticity, pore size, etc, and provide non medical treatment to correct skin irregularities - facials, etc.

Jazakh Allah Khair.
Lol, btw this isn't for me, I ain't goin' no where, I'm just wondering :D

Answer
although most countries in arab have great education system meaning that u know ARABIC.some Muslim countries like Pakistan,Indonesia are good in education too and have among top unis of world.Pakistani Uni NUST(pakistan army controlled) is among the top 400(at 376 th) unis of world and Indonesian uni is among top 400(at 395 th) unis of world.as far as if i talk about international ratings.Pakistan educational system is cheapest in the whole muslim nation because of cheap currency but law and order remains issue in pakistan.although many of arab students do study in pakistan because their skin colour is same to Pakistanis.pakistani eduacation system has been performing great among muslim nations(if we consider rise in ranking followed by indonesia)..also uae has good eduacation system but Arabic remains the main restriction.for pure islamic eduacation, i should say saudi arabia is best but if u say technology unis i should say indoesnia/pakistan are best as according to world rankings.

these two are top unis in the whole Muslim ummah as far as i know.

i need a good skin care regimen?

Lindsay Da

now that i'm 18, i want to start taking good care of my skin so my face doesn't look like leather when i'm old. i know i'm a little young to be worrying about wrinkles, but i just really want to have healthy skin. right now i just use an acne cleanser and some oil-free SPF moisturizer, but i think i need more. my skin is still pretty oily, but every now and then it will get dry on my cheeks. i still get acne sometimes, but not as much as i did when i was younger. basically, my skin is just in-between and i need some good products to take care of it that won't clog up my pores. any suggestions are appreciated. :)

Answer
'Anew' skincare regimen b Avon. I've used it and still do. There are 4 kinds: ' Anew Platinum 60+ - combats serious signs of Aging, 'Anew Ultimate 50+ - defies advanced signs of aging, 'Anew Reversalist 40+ - fights moderate signs of aging, 'Anew Rejuvenate 30+ - addresses early signs of aging. You can choose to use which ever is good for you in terms of how your skin will react to it. All are very good products and men can use them too! My sisters male friend likes it very much. Avon also has the 'Anew clinical any age skincare regimen as well, which targets specific skin care concerns.

Over 30 skin care routine?

Labels:

mimster

I need a skin care routine that deals with combination skin over 30, more prominent wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, and quite a few blackheads on the nose. A step-by-step routine with product suggestions would be appreciated!

Answer
Combination skin can be tricky and one of the best ways of dealing with it is to use the method which the German skin guru Dr Hauschka advises. It's very simple, effective and cost efficient: only moisturise your skin during the day and leave your skin bare of any products at night. By leaving off your skin cream, the skin will produce its own natural moisture and in so doing, balance your skin better. It may take a couple of weeks for you to see a difference and any dry areas may feel a little tight to begin with but persevere and eventually, you'll find that your skin balances out better.

Because you won't be moisturising at night, you can be generous during the day. For combination skin, I recommend you use Mir products which are rich in anti-ageing ingredients but light on the skin and non-comedogenic (which means they won't clog your pores or aggravate your blackheads). Part of the product line is argan oil but don't be alarmed, this is not a greasy or clogging product, it goes on silky smooth and your skin will absorb it easily. Everyone I've recommended it to raves about it and has seen a difference in their skin in a matter of weeks. You simply mix a drop or two into Mir moisturising cream. Alternatively, try the Mir Skin Silk lotion which already contains argan oil so it's been pre-mixed for you.

Eye creams are a con - a way for cosmetics companies to sell more products so don't waste your money. But you do need an ultra gentle, high quality product that will not cause your eyes to puff up - which is usually a reaction to the chemicals in skin creams or eye products. Mir skin products are so gentle that they double up as eye creams so you can use a single product over your whole face.

Cleansing is of vital importance and there is a beauty secret to achieving perfectly clean skin, free of blackheads but without drying it or stripping it. I've written about this at length in my blog and it has transformed my own skin so I can't praise it highly enough. Go to www.sofarsoyoung.com and look at the post entitled 'How Clean is Your Skin?' in which you will find details of my secret solution: microfibre cloths. These were invented by doctors so you can rest assured that you are using something safe, effective and kind to skin. Your skin will be cleaner and clearer than ever.

Toner is not necessary if you cleanse correctly but if you want to use one, Mir do a good toner for combination skin which contains natural rose water - this is a gentle but effective astringent for combination skin but won't dry the skin out. Caudalie do a very nice toner for sensitive skin too (which you can use to remove eye make-up gently) but if you use a microfibre cloth, you won't need toner or an exfoliating product as the cloth will do all that for you and will help balance your combination skin. Exfolation is very important, especially in clogged areas (where you have blackheads). A micro fibre cloth will exfoliate your skin like nothing else and will do it ultra gently without any risk of damaging the skin.

If you go to 'Our Star Selection' on my blog, you'll see other product recommendations and the website for Mir products.

Finally, to prevent further wrinkles, wear a high sunblock every single day. SPF 15 in winter and SPF 30 in summer. And don't forget to pat it around your eyes to stop any further crows feet. 85% of skin ageing is caused by the sun so an SPF is your skin's best friend. They can clog pores so only use mineral powder (the best is Jane Iredale and she does a mineral sunblock, you'll find sources for Jane Iredale products on my blog) or try the Australian brand Invisible Zinc, as recommended by Elle Macpherson, Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger.

I don't sell anything, these are simply my own recommendations based on experience. I'm almost 44 and I don't have a single line or wrinkle on my face so trust me, my method works!

Good luck.

Which is better? Exposed Skin Care or Acne Erasing Secrets?

David

Which is better? Exposed Skin Care or Acne Erasing Secrets?

Answer
Neither, they're part of a billion dollar business.

Any kind of facial wash, you're leaving something toxic behind, it's not a matter of convenience, it's a billion dollar business that can do more harm than good to your acne. And sometimes we feel entirely virtuous about our skin-care regimen because it's full of SPF-- all year round!-- and cleansers and such. But the truth is, we may not realize that we're overdoing (or underdoing) something that can lead to the very thing we're trying to avoid: dryness, breakouts, accelerated aging, New York dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf. (I've been giving this same advice for decades, but she's proof enough!).
Take a shower everyday, use washcloth to exfoliate and bath & body wash. Hydrogen peroxide does wonders for acne. Visit their website for more tips & other uses. ONLY $1.

Acne medication could worsen what ever allergies you have, so instead of trying out one product after another, you're actually spreading it around.
The less products you use, the better for your skin. Use a bath & body wash like Suave, Irish Spring, Dove Body & Face wash in the shower, use a washcloth. Treat your face like the rest of your body, take a shower everyday or wash your face everyday.

The secret is keeping your face clean and oil-free. I also don't use liquid on my face for anything, and very little moisturizer, not even a dime size. Since my face is not dry. Good skin also comes from your good genes. Increase your fresh fruits & vegetables 3-5 servings per day. And programmed your mind to do this day after day, for the rest of your life.

The beauty industry is a trillion dollar business, they know acne is everyone's problem, but instead of saying soap is drying for you, they have to invent an acne product that can worsen the skin as MANY TEENAGERS have experienced during hormonal change, but as you get older those are completely a waste of time & money!

Sometimes just the oil on your face from make up and lotions, even from your hair can travel to your face causing acne to come out. Others, from stress, hormones & diet or foods.

Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN
All the vitamins & minerals you need for good skin care comes from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature.

If acne's a problem, your pillowcases may be part of the cause. "They collect skin oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, and excess night creams," says David Bank, a professional Dermatology @ Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. "But if nothing changed by 6 week the product will never work for you. Time to move on."

"If you have breakouts, dairy is the devil' it is inflammatory and will add hormones to your already hormone-rife system. Get calcium elsewhere, or try nonfat organic dairy products. For PMS breakouts, avoid dairy and bakery items the week before your period - sugar and flour are both causes for pimples and collagen." Dr. Jessica Wu, M.D. University of Southern California School of Medicine and author of the new book Feed Your Face.

SOMEONE WROTE TO ME the other day, ASKING IF THIS BRAND IS BETTER THAN THAT BRAND - FOUND @ DRUGSTORES THEN WROTE ME BACK & THANK ME, SHE LOOKED @ HER MOM'S SKIN AND THEY WERE GOOD, BUT SHE USES ONLY WATER TO WASH HER FACE. There you go, an update.

Lea Michele recently revealed her secret to clear skinâShe gives it room to "breathe." "Maybe I'll put on a little mascara. But other than that I try very hard to just let my skin breathe," she told people.com. "I care more about letting my skin breathe than how I look."
Another good example is Lily Collins, actor, writer, artist: "When I travel to Europe, I go days without putting anything on. It feels healthier. I just never understood the idea of caking it on. The more you have on your face, the more there is to smudge and go wrong." Glamour - Sept. 2012.

Cold Calling versus Sending Flyers along with Business Cards...??.?

Labels:

MadameJazz

Okay, I'm in my first month of being a Health and Beauty Consultant and I have to make this thing work before my baby comes in 2 months....I want to send flyers to small businesses along with my business cards. I don't know what to say if I cold-call and don't feel very comfortable yet? What's better???

Answer
Direct mail has a very small rate of return. A couple of suggestions
1.Go ahead and get a list of prospects to cold call.
2. Become a expert on your company.
3 .Role plays are a effective method of learning.
You need to jump in with both feet. The right sales job is not a quick, get rich occupation. You need to become a competent adviser to your customer. Cold calling is not easy, but you have to find something in your company which will benefit your end user.

Good luck with your baby

I need some ideas. The differences should be significant and interesting as opposed to obvious and boring.List at least 10 ways the one subject is better than the other.Write an"A is better than B"thesis sentence.

Answer
A 1.being on your own is always better, first the obvious privacy--
2. you don't have to hear other people argueing
3. you can sleep in and no-one bothers you, very important for mental, physical health and beauty sleep
4. no-one eats the special food you bought soley for yourself,
5.you don't have to contend with little kids who come along with your parent's company
6. you can have your own company [even just a friend] without them being asked questions
7.you can always watch only what you prefer on t.v.
8.you will not be asked to do chores
9.if you want to move things around or not clean up , it's up to you
10.it's your haven, if you screw up in anyway, lose a job, etc. you don't have to hear anyone's mouth
11. bonus; you can blast your music
*now; don't ask me to do your math.
naturally, the differences are the opposites, but you can save $ while still at home, that's the only good thing.
