It's like there are products and regimens only to cope with facial skin, while it would look very retarded to have, let's say from a 6-month time of facial regimen:
Tanned facial skin and neck - white body
clear skin - acne
white undertone -yellow undertone
smooth, soft skin - rough, dry, skin

It would be better if you do that in drawing apps (Illustrator, Freehand, or CorelDraw) because the result will be scalable to any size without losing its clarity.
Just draw your character in the apps (usually done by pen toolâthat also applied to photoshop). If you are not sure with your drawing, look on your clipart collection or search in the net for free clipart (good if you can find clipart in windows metafile format or wmf). Dowload the clipart and customize it in your apps.
