Why should Healthy Americans pay high premiums due to the sloth and burger addictions of the obese, diabetic, heart attack prone, etc?
I think that is fair.
Some plans already give incentives, such as: if you take advantage of preventive care programs, enroll at the fitness center, get regular check-ups, lose weight if you are overweight, get lower cholesterol readings, you will get a reduction in premiums. I think all insurance plans should be required to offer this. That's my point. I was expecting more creative answers, but only a couple of you had anything remotely smart to say.
Eat up.

No, it would defeat the purpose of health care insurance and create adverse selection problems.
Also, " very significant reductions in US caloric intake will save 0.6% of health care costs by 2020." Obesity is bad but diseases like skin cancel that are expensive to treat happen to even healthy people.
If insurance companies are offering incentives, they looking to increase the number of healthy into their pool.

There is increasing evidence of the role of antioxidants in the prevention of eye disease, so it is sensible to eat a balanced diet high in fruit and vegetables.
We should remember to wear appropriate protective eyewear whenever we are doing something potentially damaging to the eyes, such as using power tools. It is very common for someone to say "I was just doing something for one minute, I didn't think I needed to wear my safety glasses", and end up with an eye injury. Ocky straps in particular are very dangerous and should be avoided. We need to be careful to avoid chemical splashes to the eyes, especially alkali chemicals such as in cleaning solutions and lime, as these can lead to serious burns.
We should avoid excessive exposure to ultraviolet light by wearing a hat and sunglasses.
Excessive UV light can lead to pterygium (an abnormal growth of the skin of the eye, the conjunctiva, early onset of cataract and other eye problems.
