I have seen it referred to as Body & Soul Magazine and have seen it as New Age Journal. Is this the same magazine or are they just owned by the same publisher?

What is a good, natural looking self-tanning lotion / moisturizer for very fair skin?

crystal_ho

I have very light skin. I do not tan, I burn. =(
But I really want to look like I go outside -cause I do, all the time! lol! I just don't look like it.

I'm looking for something that will build a light to medium tan. Nothing super dark and certainly not orange please! lol

Also any tips about how to apply, pervent streaking, ect. would be wonderful!! I have never done this before!

Thank you in advance! =)

Answer
Self-tanners are a perfect alternative to burning (a popular summer pastime of us fair folks)! I love the Loreal self-tanning gel, which, when applied with some rubber gloves, gives an absolutely perfect glow; it might be too strong for you. What I'd recommend? Check out the self-tanning beauty guide from Women's Health magazine. Its editors got streaked and bronzed for us all (hard life, huh?). See WH's tips and reviews from product testers here. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/beauty-and-style/best-self-tanners

These are WH's top picks:
For Fair Skin: Dove Energy Glow body lotion ($10 for 13.5 oz, drugstore.com)
For Dry Skin: Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream ($40 for 3.9 oz, clarinsusa.com)
For Your Face: Declor Aroma Sun SPF 10 Hydrating Tinted SelfTanning GelCream ($36 for 1.69 oz, sephora.com)
For an Intense Gradual Tan: Jergens Natural Glow Express ($7.50 for 4 oz, drugstore.com)
For Traveling: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze SelfTanning Towelettes for Body ($10 for 6 wipes, drugstore.com)

And also look into Shiseido Brilliant Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Gel for Face and Body ($28 for 5.4 oz). This turned out to be a WH fave.

Application: Hop in the shower and use an exfoliating glove or sponge and shave. Let your skin dry off completely, then grab some gloves (get a big box of medical gloves from your local pharmacy. This will keep the tell-all orange palms at bay and help it spread evenly), and get brown. To avoid orange joints, apply a very small amount to your knees, elbows, and ankles, then spread it in with a light touch; everywhere else, go as heavy as you'd like :)

Happy summer and happy tanning!
