Society tends to focus on youth and beauty regarding women. One is a temporary asset (everybody ages), and the other one of a superficual one (no one can choose their genes)

Meanwhile society doesnt put as much pressure on men to look young and beauty, in fact you can see many old fat ugly guys married to younger beautiful women.

So what do you think about it?

Answer
They are both fleeting. One of the good things about getting older is that you worry less about beauty. I still worry about age because we live in a society where there is prejudice against older people. Like people can help getting older - what else can they do - die? Health seems to be more important after your late 30s, and you quit worrying about things like always looking perfect. I used to starve myself in my 20s, and I think a lot of young women still would rather be thin than healthy. Every time I read questions on here about a woman only being of value till age 23 or 25 I'm a little annoyed. What do some of these men think - that women are disposable? Chuck her and find a new one when a female hits a certain age because her value has decreased? To only be valued for your youth and beauty is kind of a sad thing.

Society pressures men to be attractive too, and many men are age conscious. A lot of them not until their 40s and beyond though. Most of those fat old ugly guys with beautiful younger women have major $$$$$$$$$.

How come so many people put their faith in science?

Hollywood

1. Science doesnât know everything there are many things that even after all of these years science cannot explain.

2. Science often contradicts itself. Some studies have found that certain things are beneficial to your health where as other studies have found that the same things can be detrimental to your health.

But yet, certain people still put their faith or whatever they call it in science and scientists hoping that they are right. It really seems like a lot of wishful thinking.

Answer
Oh, I don't know. Maybe because science is based on evidence and self-correcting.

In any case:
1) Science doesn't ask for your faith, nor do you need any faith in it. Everything in science is independently verifiable which is the whole beauty of it. That's the opposite of faith.
2) Nobody has ever claimed science knows everything. Indeed science is a methodology, not an entity capable of knowing or not knowing things. Science is a way of getting at what is true, a demonstrably effective way at that.
3) If you think science contradicts itself, you don't understand science. In the specific example of whether something is healthy or not, there's a lot of error and jumble in the data because the relationship between what you eat and your health is complicated and it's difficult if not impossible to hold all other variables constant. That's why looking at individual studies in those areas don't show anything. Instead, scientists look at a large number of studies and do meta-analyses on them to eliminate these errors, randomness, and other factors affecting the results. The kind of journalism "New study finds X is healthy/unhealthy" is based on a misunderstanding of science and results partly from the fact that journalists don't know enough science but also partly from the fact that journalists often just want quick stories.
