Answer
Yes VCO is excellent for skin i ahve been using VCO for around 3 years..its natural oil extracted from coconut milk.

Check out this article published on VCO

MeritVCO Extra Virgin Coconut Oil the safest skin moisturizer

MeritVCO Extra virgin coconut oil oil is one of the trusted skin moisturizer and hair treatments in tropical countries. Virgin coconut oil is better than most expensive commercial moisturizer and hair conditioners in the market, because it does not only soften rough skin, it is also loaded with antioxidants that help repair skin damage and strengthen skin tissues therefore preventing wrinkles. Most commercial creams and lotions are predominantly water. When the water enters the skin, it expands the tissues, so wrinkles fade away and the skin looks and feel smoother, but this effect is just temporary, as soon as the water evaporates, the dry wrinkled skin returns. Another thing is this moisturizer contains highly refined ingredients (devoid of all natural protective antioxidants), which can do more harm to our skin.

Testimonials:

â¢I have been using the oil for about two weeks. My skin looks great, no more dryness. My hair looks great, soft and shiny, no more frizz. And my scalp is no longer dry. Also, my eyelashes have grown longer and thicker! This is a plus I did not expect. I now make an effort to apply a bit of oil with a clean mascara brush each morning/night.
â¢Most recently my daughters and I relied heavily on using MERITVCO to soothe and repair the effects of our unfortunate first-of-the-summer sunburns, I observed that by using vco on my sunburn, not only did it heal and moisturize my skin; the peeling seemed less dramatic than in sunburns of the past.
â¢When my baby boy was 15 weeks old he had a yeast infection on his bottom. Instead of asking his doctor for an expensive prescription, I first tried MERITVCO. I was very new to using it so I wasn't sure what to expect. I liberally applied coconut oil at each diaper change (about 6x/day) allowing it to soak in for a few minutes after each application. I was amazed that within 24 hours there was significant improvement. I continue to apply it and within 3 days the yeast infection was completely gone!!!
â¢I am a 37-year-old female who had red lesions on my face for many years. Unbelievably it finally cleared in three months when I applied Coconut Oil topically to my face each day.
â¢My youngest son had very dry scalp (cradle cap) and the coconut oil healed it in two days.
â¢It has been two days since I used the Virgin Coconut oil, I applied it straight on my scalp and the results are unbelievable. Its has only been two days and I have no more dandruff.
â¢I just got back from my 7-day trip to Jamaica. I used MERITVCO exclusively as my sunscreen. I had no burns and my tan is even and golden. I am somewhat fair-skinned.
â¢I have been using straight MERITVCO as an underarm deodorant since last fall. Works wonders. Works just as good as any antiperspirant deodorant I have ever used. I have a job that requires a lot of manual labor and my MERITVCO deodorant has not failed me yet, even when over heated.

Virgin Coconut Oil for Skin Care?

I'm interested in trying this and I'm just curious...

Is this really effective?
If you apply it to your face, would applying an exfoliating facial wash afterwards be too much?
do you apply it on your skin EVERYDAY? if so, how frequently? (like before going out, before going to bed etc.)

Answer
i dab a little organic virgin coconut oil lightly around my eyes. it does soften the facial skin, but i think bc of my rosacea it breaks me out just a little on my forehead and cheeks. but, any oil seems to do that to me. i use it before bed and sometimes in the morning. i use a couple of different moisturizers. and it's good for your skin if you're in the sun. produces a tan and helps protect the skin.

i cook with it too. i get my oil from either tropical traditions or fresh shores, online. sometimes, i'll coat my arms, legs, etc with the oil, let it soak for several minutes, then wipe the excess off. i have really dry skin, and it helps.

but, the first few times i applied it to my entire face, and my skin felt so soft. so, i was disappointed when i started to break out, like i always do anyway.

QUAN

I WASH MY FACE BEFORE I GO TO BED AND WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING. I WAS WONDERING COULD I USE THAT LOTION TO MAKE MY SKIN GLOW? OH AND IF I PUT VASELINE ON MY FACE WILL THAT BREAK IT OUT? 10 POINTS TO WHO ANSWERS ALL TWO QUESTIONS!!!

Answer
Yes, you can use both and vaseline will not break out your skin, however be careful how much you use it could clog your pores. Coco butter is also good if you get burned. Both will make your skin soft and glowing.

Coconut Oils?

I've been reading alot about the benefits of coconut oils (for cooking, applying to your skin and hair, etc.). I have been looking at several websites that explain everything about the oils and different types, which is the best, etc., however there are so many brands with huge price differences. Can anyone recommend a brand that you find works well and lives up to its promise? If you use it, what benefits do you think it has from personal experience? I know it is good for the skin outside, but supposedly it's good for many, many things, internally and externally. Thank you everyone!!
Also, which is better...virgin or extra virgin coconut oil?
thank you so far for the links, most of those i have read. I appreciate your help so far, but I am interested in hearing from people who are using it and what benefits they see and feel from it.

Answer
Virgin Coconut OIl or VCNO is all you need if it's a good brand.

It's incredible stuff. It definitely gives me more energy and in cooking it gives foods a great taste. Also if you fry with it it doesn't taste greasy.

Since frying can use a bit of it I use the Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil. It doesn't smell quite as good but works fine for frying and is cheaper.

You have not lived until you've tried onion rings made with it. Not greasy at all and incredible!

It works great in baking except being a little soft for some recipes (especially in summer ) because it melts at like 74 degrees. If that's an issue just use 1/2 vcno and 1/2 butter.
The only thing I haven't cared for with it is scrambled eggs. It gives them a bit of a soapy taste but it's great in hot cereal, makes an soup creamier and better tasting and gives me energy

These are the guys I use. They are the experts and the original importer of it. They also use family farms (in Phillipines) and have been a pleasure to deal with.
They also have good sales.

Is it a bad idea to use certain types of soap on your skin?

I generally use liquid hand soap to wash my face. Lately it's been feeling all rubbery. Usually my skin care routine is just washing with soap and water, then scrubbing hard eve (not enough to make my skin raw or anything) every few days to get rid of dead skin cells and moisturizing with a tiny bit of coconut oil. How come my skin feels all rubbery?

Answer
You definitely should NOT use hand soap on your face. It's too harsh. You need to buy a good facial cleanser. Clinique is good, but it can be a little pricey. Olay works fine as well, it's what I use. Buy one that is meant for your skin type, there is dry, normal, combination, and oily. It might take a while to find one that works well for your skin, its a trial and error type process.

What are good ssential oils for skin care?

Strong Win

I've heard that when it comes to skin care, you need to use essential oils (not base oils). What's the difference between the two? I've been using Jojoba oil but I think I want to switch it around a bit. What's better for facial skin care, combination skin? There's jojoba, almond, grape seed, tea tree, sunflower seed, coconut, etc.

Answer
Overall, the effects of essential oils may be divided into two basic groups. Some essential oils have actual physical effects. For example, eucalyptus oil can be inhaled to help clear sinuses and the respiratory tract. This would obviously relieve some symptoms of an upper respiratory infection (URI). Some oils may be used topically (directly on the skin, where they would usually be absorbed by the body, or on a wound) to possibly relieve swelling or fight certain infections.
