Mystery

Hi, i have THIN hair, and i know that gnc sells a lot of pills that are good for your hair, nails, skin but the problem is that it contains gelatin. i can eat gelatin but it can only be fish, or vegetable...

so does anybody know any "kosher"? pills that work for all 3 (hair/skin/nails)

Answer
Beauty products don't make nails grow.

You really are what you eat. If you're eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature - not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet.

Save your money instead of buying hair growth products or supplements. Vogue Dec. 2010, Vogue Feb. 2011 issue has a section on biotin, supplements, fish oil, etc. . Fish oil for example: Read the labels if they state that it contains: "one or more of the following: Cod, English Whiting, Shark."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesnât have to approve supplements â no agency in the United States does. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality donât apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, HAIR LOSS, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. FDA has received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations, and death. 3-15-11

If you're eating healthy foods from Mother Nature, your nails, hair, skin, body WILL BENEFIT more than man-made products.

Google: MSN "Vitamins Can Do More Harm Than Good." Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN
All the vitamins & minerals you need for good skin care comes from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature.

According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated $176 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Donât let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

CNN, Slate, Consumer Reports, MSN, YAHOO have posted them online for years how people spend $20 billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here's an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements. Google: Are Supplements Good For You? About 7,430,000 results (0.15 seconds). THEN Google: Are vitamins & supplements good for you? About 4,250,000 results (0.14 seconds) Some can actually shorten your life!
Google: Hair growth caused other men nationwide in class-action lawsuits. About 1,640,000 results (0.10 second.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

How often should you dye hairpieces?

R

Hi, I have a human clip in hairpiece that I dyed about a month ago. I have natural red hair, so it's hard to match my color. The piece is starting to look strawberry blonde and not like red hair (there's a difference!). I know that hair color fades slower on hairpieces because you dont wash them as often as real hair, but I was just wondering how often I should dye it. I paid A LOT for these so I dont want to dye them TOO often, because I want them to last as long as possible. Also, it costs around $70 to dye them and Im a broke college student so I can't afford that too often either. Any help you could offer would be great!!

Answer
ONCE or never is best!
First of all, your hair extensions or wigs do NOT HAVE LIFE, meaning it's not attached to a living thing, person, or animal.

Wigs from synthetic or real hair, are like hair accessories. They can not be damaged, by using heating tools or chemicals. If they do, you'll need to BUY A NEW ON.

Your hair extensions, or wigs can not be repaired like clothes or go back like the real hair on your head.

Example from Jennifer Aniston: "It was about 100 percent humidity, so the frizz factor was through the roof. I brought along Living Proof products with a healthy skepticism. I wore a half-wig on this film, and the girl who was washing the hairpiece wasnât using my shampoo. So we would go outside and the rest of my hair would be totally tame and perfect, and the top [wig] part â which I called my toupee âwould just start to look like pubic hair. It would take on a whole new texture of its own.â

She (the model with hair loss) paid a tons MORE money than your hair. I
do not recommend them, specially if you've got thin or thinning hair, trying to grow hair or Afri-Amer. They will only make your hair thinner or hair falls.

May 22, 2011: Model and businesswoman Katie Price, who was formerly topless model Jordan, is demanding compensation from a top Los Angeles hair salon after she spent $17,000 on hair colourings and extensions that she claims were botched, leaving her hair so damaged it began falling out.

"Hair extensions can cause some damage to your real hair," says Placid Braganza, a design artiste. "Since they are attached using thermal heat, knotting, braiding or gluing, they can hamper hair roots or even break, split or burn hair strands if not done carefully," he adds.

Published 8-10-12: Even supermodels have bad hair days, but from the looks of this recent photo, Naomi Campbell appears to be dealing with something far worse.
A photo of the 42-year-old beauty vacationing in Ibiza earlier this week shows what appears to be a receding hairline.
Florida hair surgeon Dr. Alan Bauman, who has not treated Campbell, said the former supermodel appears to be suffering from traction alopecia â hair loss due to extensions.
âExtensions, weaves, anything artificial hanging on hair â no matter whether you attach it with glue, special magnets, tape â itâs going to cause damage over time,â Bauman told ABCNews.com. âAnd unless you give your hair a break from those extensions, it wonât rebound.â

Clip-on hair extensions give you a change of look without damaging your natural hair. "They are easy and quick to apply; usually taking five to seven minutes," says beauty expert, Sylvia Chen. "Moreover, in case you're not very comfortable, you can immediately pull them out," she adds.
Red flags: These clip-on hair extensions need to be removed before you go to bed. You cannot sleep or swim with these. So you may not want to opt for them if you're planning to wear them on a daily basis; you'd have to follow the routine of attaching them every morning and removing them before sleeping. Moreover, they may also lead to hair breakage while removing the clips; some even tend to tangle and fall apart after a few days.

Traction alopecia is hair loss that occurs as a result of continuous pulling of the hair. Pulling may occur from hairstyles such as tight cornrows, plaits or braids with or without extensions, weaves, ponytails or even hair rollers or curlers. Natural hairstyles can also lead to traction alopecia as well. Long heavy locks and tightly coiled twists can lead to traction alopecia. The hair loss associated with traction alopecia typically occurs at the frontal hairline, at the temples or the area of the scalp above the ears. It may also occur at the posterior hairline. http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=aaplw&p=traction+alopecia+naomi+campbell

Randee Bank also had problems after using hair extensions. "I still have bald spots. The hair has not grown back," said Bank.

How do I act more Russian?

Lia

Hi im Russian and lived in it 'till I was six, then moved to an English speaking country so now i'm wondering how I can act more russian! My friends tell me that I have that natural russian talent and the toughness - whatever that means - but i'm just wondering how I can act more Russian!
Also no Vodka for me yet - sad:( - 'cause i'm under age!

Thanks for reading!

Answer
Life is not scene, you don't have "to act". No matter what role you choose, it would make you "face-less", "lost", emotionally and energetically devastated after all. Because it's not you, it's your role. If you're a self-sufficient person you wouldn't even think about wasting your time & vitality on acting.
If you are a real Russian (the ethnic one), Ukrainian or Belarusian, you should just feel it. Maybe 13-14 y.o. is too young, but this is definitely that very age, when you should gain some self-respect and individualism.
Finally, impostors or "exaggerators" are always frowned upon by their own compatriots and lots of other people.

If you feel nostalgic & patriotic, try to start from Russian literature. How about language btw? National food? Folk music? - if you don't like all this, if you don't feel any connection with all this, there is no need to wear Russianess as some kind of embellishment.
For a time being I only see your "weakness" to stereotyping much... Vodka? - dear, it kills your health, beauty, it makes your skin waterless/lifeless, yellow/brown (because it kills the liver), it makes you old, flabby and stinky. Is that what you're dreaming about? Vodka was invented by non-Europeans, non-Russians. Ascribing this alcoholic "monster" to us is russophobic: the violent imposition of vodka on the most sober nation in Europe (up to the end of XIX century) was made by non-Russian haters, who wanted to genocide as many Rus people as possible.
