Who should be my target market in 'Health & beauty'?

Katie
I want to specialise in 'Alternative healing' with regard to general health & beauty. This would include yoga, herbal remedies, skin/hair care etc.
Health & beauty i realise is far too general. Any ideas on how i can make this more niche? & have a specific target market without going off my inital area too much?
Any advice would be great, thanks =)
Answer
Women between 35 and 50.
They have the disposable income. And they are more concerned about Health & Beauty than other segments of the market.
You already have the niche: alternative healing. Gather all of the paperwork to show you are qualified to sell herbs and lead yoga classes. Set up shop in upper middle class suburbia.

What are all of the health/beauty benefits of a steam room?

Q.
Answer
During a 10-20 minute sauna session, your heart rate increases by 50-75%. This provides the same metabolic result as physical exercise. The increased cardiac load is the equivalent to a brisk walk. There is a nominal effect on blood pressure because the heat also causes blood vessels in skin to expand to accommodate increased blood flow.
Blood vessels become more flexible and there is increased circulation to the extremities. During a sauna, blood flow to the skin increases to as high as 50-70% of cardiac output (compared to the standard 5-10%). This brings nutrients to subcutaneous and surface tissue resulting in glowing healthy skin.
Steambaths and saunas induce sweating to provide a comprehensive cleansing of the skin and sweat glands. Skin is the largest organ in the body. 30% of body wastes are passed through the skin. Profuse sweating enhances the detoxifying capacity of the skin by opening pores and flushing impurities from the body.
When taking a sauna, skin temperature rises to 40°C (104°F) and internal body temperature rises to about 38°C (100.4°F). Exposure to the high heat creates an artificial fever state. Fever is part of the bodyâs natural healing process. Fever stimulates the immune system resulting in increased production of disease fighting white blood cells, antibodies and interferon (an anti viral protein with cancer fighting capability).
Spas and other such therapeutic facilities utilize saunas and steambaths in conjunction with massage to loosen fatty tissue and assist in the battle against cellulite.
Many regular steam and sauna users claim that a âgood sweatâ at the onset helps relieve and ward off the most severe symptoms of cold or flu.
Some of the other benefits associated with saunas and steambaths include:
Relief from the pain and stiffness of arthritis.
Steam is an excellent treatment for respiratory problems, such as; chest congestion, bronchitis, laryngitis and sinusitis.
Revives tired and strained muscles after physical exertion.
The cleansing effect of profuse perspiration helps provide healthy skin and a clear complexion.

kar
I have a narrow face and would like some suggestions for a hairstyle that would make my face look wider. (keeping in mind that I am over 50) Hope someone can help.
Answer
I think, despite your age, you should still be able to look in the mirror in the morning, and feel proud of your reflection. Here are a few tips from me to you, I live with my Gran so I know what's in and out!
Women over 50 can choose from a wide variety of hairstyles. At any age, a great hairstyle flatters a woman's features and is easy to maintain. As a woman matures, there are some common problem areas to consider when choosing a great cut.
Common Problems for Women Over 50
1. Thinning Hair - As women mature, decreasing oil production often leads to dry, thinning hair. Shorter hairstyles are often best at camouflaging thinning hair. Bob cuts, short shags, and chunky layered crop cuts are all good options. Long, side-swept bangs keep the look fresh and look good on many women.
2. Graying Hair - The choice to dye hair is a personal preference. Hair products today keep silver hair shiny and manageable. As hair color transitions, highlights are often the best way to blend in graying hair. Lighter hair colors look good with many skin tones and are easier to maintain than darker shades, but pale women may opt for a dark brunette color for a more youthful look.
3. Dropping Jaw Line - Short layers around the face draw the eyes away from a dropping jaw line. Use a round brush while blow drying to flip layers up. This added bounce and flipped curls detract from the jaw line and visually uplifts the whole look.
4. Softening Neck - As women age, the skin on the neck often softens, losing some of its previous tone. Drawing attention higher will emphasize the eyes and pull focus from a softening neck. Hairstyles such as bob cuts that keep the length near the ears are a great option.
Great Hairstyles to Consider
1. Bob Cuts - A classic bob cut hangs evenly around chin length. A graduated bob falls at an angle, with the front hair longer than the nape. Bob cuts work well for many women and can be easily customized to emphasize a woman's best features. They can be cut without bangs, with long, side-swept bangs, or short chunky ones.
2. Page Boys - A page boy is simply a longer bob cut. It falls well below the chin and often all the way to the tops of the shoulders. A page boy is a timeless look for women of any age, but looks particularly smart on older women. The ends can be blunt, curled under, or flipped up.
3. Spiky Cuts - Many older women opt for a funky, short spike cut. These cuts are great for active women as they are easy to maintain. They draw the eye up, allowing focus to fall on the eyes which are often a woman's best feature.
4. Crop Cuts - Crop cuts with many layers are another great option for women who like very short hair. A chunky, modern look can be achieved with razor cuts or hair can be scissor cut for a softer, pixie cut.
5. Long Hair - There was a time when older women were discouraged from having long hair. While shorter cuts often conceal some common problems, it is perfectly acceptable to wear hair long as well. Newer shampoos and styling products maintain hair health, making it easier than ever to keep hair long and shiny at any age.
Before trying out a new style, it is a good idea to see how it may look. Computer software now lets a woman upload a picture of herself and edit it with different hairstyles. Programs can be purchased for home use, or can be found online. One option is Lifetime TV's Total Beauty Makeover.
Taking these problem areas into consideration, a woman can find a flattering hairstyle while transitioning into a new stage of life. Regardless of age, a woman's beauty lies in finding the look that flatters her own personality and unique style.
And your look amazing. Good Luck!

Do malaysian woman care about their beauty and face? What is the meaning of a beautiful woman in malaysia?

Anelim
do woman in malaysia use anti-wrinkle creams, are the concerned about their beauty? Is being beautiful an important thing in malaysia? please help me.
Answer
I am very sure that you will find beauty and health conscious women in Malaysia as you will find them anywhere else in the world. Of course, some of them use anti-wrinkle creams.
Malaysians, being Asians, are not prone to the physical symptoms of ageing until they reach the 50's at least. The women are usually petite, short and slim. Since they cover most of their body, they do not get sunburned too often either. The tropical climate allows their skin's natural oils to moisturise and protect their hair, skin and nails. They also don't consume alcohol, hence they have less health problems which are often triggered by excessive alcohol.
Malaysia is also abundant with luscious fruits and vegetables, so even low-income households have easy access to a healthy diet. And, owing to the very sunny climate, Malaysia has fewer depressed people, and it is easy to lose weight by exercising even a little in the outdoors.

Does anyone know what you can purchase with a CVS select card? I know it is health and beauty products but every time I go and purchase something like medicine or etc. It isn't covered and I have a gift card for $50.00. If anyone has a list of items you can buy or at least knows if you can by baby formula and diapers and what brands and etc are covered that would be great since thats probably what I will use it for.
Answer
According to CVS the "Select Card" is...
Selectively filtered card based on current FSA allowable spending.
Allows recipient to buy a full range of health-related products from allergy remedies to baby care and more.
Filters out purchases like cigarettes, alcohol and items not supporting a healthy lifestyle.
It looks like you CAN use it for your Baby needs.

I need customer's email to traffic too my online health, beauty, and food business
Answer
"If you build it, they will come" is not necessarily true on the Web. Putting a website up is one thing, but getting visitors to come to your site is another. The process becomes even more difficult if you have limited resources to market your business.
The only free email lists are those you build yourself in your site -- either lists of previous customers or visitors who have expressedly agreed to receive your mailings. You need to have the permission; otherwise you'd be labelled a spammer
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:
1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more - that's additional traffic that you get for FREE!
Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html
3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

Which is a better magazine seventeen or glamour?

Josephine
Im in my early teens and would like to get a magiazine subscription besides the NG kids. I want to have beauty, fashion, and advice.
Answer
I suggest InStyle, Vogue, Teen vogue, and Marie Clarie!
Vogue- has definitely updated in the newest trends with plenty of pictures and you would also enjoy Teen Vogue because it incorporates Vogue along with teen celebrities, fashion, like a mix between Vogue and Seventeen. Prestigious and exquisite pictures which capture the true meaning of fashion, great product lists, good makeup tips! Great ideas.
Seventeen- Cute and creative with plenty of fashion/dating/health advice/makeup! It will sometimes have pop outs with like "top 50 jeans for your figure,"17 hottest guys, or "4 week back-to-school workout." The downside is that most of the things advertised is for the typical teen showing clothing from stores like lulu's, macy's, asos, etc (unless of you actually like that not much of actual high fashion.) mostly tips.
Instyle- has coupons, deals, shows different ways to wear styles, what the basic trends/colors/ patterns/makeup are! Basically everything about trends and clothes.
