Beauty is a value associated with an innate and emotional perception of life's affirmative and meaningful aspects within objects in the perceived world âie. vitality, fertility, health, happiness, goodness, and love. Cognition of "beauty" involves the interpretation of objects as being in balance and harmony with nature, which in turn elicits a sense and experience of attraction, affection, and pleasure.

In its most profound sense, beauty is said to engender a salient experience of positive reflection with regard to the meaning of one's own being within natural life. An "object of beauty" may be anything that reveals or resonates with a personal meaning. Hence religious and moral teachings have often focused on the divinity and virtue of beauty, to assert natural beauty as an aspect of a spiritual beauty (ie. truth) and to define all self-centered or materialistic pretensions as based in ignorance. The ancient story of Narcissus for example, deals with the distinction between recognizing beauty and falling into vanity. The presence of the self in any human context means that beauty is naturally tied to its human meaning, wherein human beauty is often the dominant aspect of a greater natural beauty. Otherwise, objects can be defined as belonging to any of various types, such as "artificial," or "intellectual" beauty.

In the modern context, the usage of beauty as means to promote an ideology or dogma has been a focus of societal debates which center around issues of prejudice, ethics, and human rights. The usage of beauty for purposes of commercialism is a controversial aspect of the "culture wars," wherein feminism typically claims such usage promotes a dogmatic (ie. "The Beauty Myth") rather than a virtuous understanding of beauty. The literal opposite of beauty is ugliness âie. the perceived lack of beauty, which stimulates displeasure and engenders a deeper negative perception of the object.

Why can't i focus on anything?

I'm home schooled this is my senior year i desperately need to get high test scores to get into a good college. I can't focus i watch an educational video or read and my mind wonders i watch but i can't seem to actually think about what i'm watching. I Have always been that way but it seems like it's getting worse. I get really angry because i don't know why i can't be one of those people that just sits down and studies when i really want to be.

The inability to steady focus on something may be due to poor health conditions. Also, the ability of careful focusing on things may be trained. A sport would be good for training focusing because in sports attention and energies shall be fiercely centred on something, on the goal of that sport. Thus soccer, or shooting, or golfing or anything whatsoever else that is done with careful exertions and following certain particular rules may be good for the training of your attention.

Also diligent reading and trying exactly to remember what you have been reading is an activity of focusing. Writing may be a superb exercising in focusing, in that you write something and then you read what you have written, and see how good or not good it seems to be, and you make corrections, or you do write a concise rendition of something, you do improve the logic of your writing. All that certainly is focusing.

A hunter may need to be greatly good at focusing. A hunter may see the silhouette of a rabbit or of a deer far away on the field or about the bush and thus try and approach without being noticed nearer until the prey is within good range.

Some military discipline also may be very good for training focusing. A military person is a competent warrior, a careful watchful warrior that knows and reflects upon the power of attention and the focal power of weapons.

But ... first of all good health. First of all good health-promoting food and retiring for night rest and sleep and dreams at night possibly never much later than midnight for then surrendering unto the dark cozy secrecy of your own bed, for then upon waking up jumping off your bed, perhaps doing some breathing exercises, for then getting prepared and going and enjoying a great nourishing delicious breakfast and thus getting ready for one more active dangerous day of study of work of glowing attention.

Also, you might try and go out and enjoy the beauty of a sun-kissed landscape when you do need a pause from studying. Occasionally you might go out for a perspiring exertion, for a walk or hike or ride all on your own or in good company, out to the green scented meadows, to the woods, to the lake-shores or to the ocean-shores, out to the edges of a desert, or perhaps up-hills, upwards towards the top of a shining mountain perhaps four hours ahead of you.

All that with the aim of becoming fresher, more healthy more attentive. Thus also you might try and do to improve your ability to focus. Do now have chances of lots of great merry laughs in loving company or more sublimely all on your own.
