That's pretty low, but lots of people in high school and college get paid minimum wage. Working at a common place like that will pay you low (other examples would be common clothing stores and the job is horrible). What you should do is get a job where you earn lots of tips-waitress, bartender, beverage cart person on a golf course-you might not get paid super well (they usually get paid about $2.50 an hour), but you earn lots of tips and probably bring home around at least $80 in tips every night, depending on where you're working. You'll make more than your friends that way. Also, you could try more upscale places, like really nice department stores (Nordstrom) or a skin care/make-up place. I just got a job at an environmentally friendly skin care place and make more than most people my age probably, they're willing to hire people if you have good people skills and are ready to learn. You could even do a place like Clinique or Revlon, the little places in department stores...you'd also learn a lot about skin care and probably get a wonderful discount. Good luck! :)

If your dog is having skin problems you can try changing his dog food to something holistic. Stay away from fillers like corn, they cause a lot of skin and coat problems. Pet People and Pet Supplies Plus have a wide variety of holistic foods. They cost more, but your dog will eat much less because the food doesn't contain fillers. Before I switched to a holistic food, my dogs went through a 40 lb bag in 2 weeks, now they go through a 30 lb bag in 4 weeks. They're healthier than ever! They eat Pinnacle which has 4 different flavors so you're supposed to rotate them. My dogs love it and because all 4 blends have the same base formula, no tummy aches when switching flavors.
You could also try dinovite. www.dinovite.com - I've heard a LOT of great things about this product, you just sprinkle it on the dogs food and it helps with skin, coat and digestive problems etc. I was going to try this, but the switch in dog food did the trick. My dogs shed less, the puppy went from runny poop 8 times a day (many times on the carpet) to solid poop 2 to 3 times a day (outside). Plus, holistic foods are usually all stages of life foods, meaning any dog can eat it, puppy to senior, even working dogs. If you have a toy dog, you might want to check with your vet because some of these foods can make them gain weight if you don't know what you're doing. My dogs are all between 30 and 50 lbs and they're all in the best shape of their lives.
Innova is another good brand, so is Canidae. My dogs didn't do so well on Canidae and one of them didn't like the flavor of Innova, but it's supposed to be the most superior product.
I get my Pinnacle for $45 to $50 a bag depending on the flavor, and like I said it lasts an entire month sp I'm actually spending far less then I was with Iams because they eat half the food they needed to before.
