I was at the mall with my mom and a skin care specialist dude stopped us and said 'Oh you must have a hard time finding products for your sensitive skin!' And I always thought I had pretty resilient, oily skin. But do I actually have sensitive skin? How can you tell?
Answer
Sometimes skin care people who stop you with their little carts, are just looking for business.
The only way you can really tell what kind of skin you have is if you wake up in the morning everyday and deal with it yourself. If you find you have pain with exfoliants or simple cleansers, then it is possible you have sensitive skin. If this really concerns you, you should set up an appt. with a dermatologist. :)

What kind of facial cleanser should I use?

Whenever I try to use skin care products my face breaks out even more ( even with products for sensitive skin!). My skin is combination and I don't get many breaks outs but I do get a few that are bad, that become worse with products; hence I get dark marks.
Would a all natural product have less of an effect on my skin? Or should I stick to something basic like hot water and a washcloth?
Answer
I have the same problem. I can't use any cleansers you can typically find at a store; I've tried Proactiv, AcneFree, Clearasil, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, etc... Nothing has worked, and my skin was very sensitive to it! Instead, I've found some all-natural soap bars, (containing things like green tea or witch hazel, as those are very good for your skin), and it has helped a lot! My skin isn't sensitive at all anymore, as well. In addition to all-natural soaps, I like to do at-home "masks" and scrubs using things you have in your kitchen: egg whites, egg yolk, pure cane sugar, honey, oatmeal, yogurt... There's tons of possibilities, and lots of foods have surprising benefits for your skin. Just do a bit of research, try out a few things, and you're bound to find something that works wonders!
