I have a (brown skinned) Hindu female friend who told me that in her culture that it is frowned upon to have dark skin and the lighter you are the better. She says that "light skin" is considered beautiful. I also noticed there is a divide within the Hispanic and Black community with regard to skin color as well and I find it very strange. Why is this an issue?
Answer
Because people like your friend and her culture make it an issue, plain and simple!
Tell your friend a few things for me: Light-skinned is considered nothing but what you people make it to be. Diseases such as cancer and AIDS, don't care what your skin color is, it knows no color. You think it only attacks dark-skinned people?
Whatever her religious beliefs, it all comes down to this, when we die, none of us truly know where we are headed, some of us hope it is heaven, others whereever, but the bottom line; GOD is not going to give a crap what color your skin is!!!
You can also tell her, many many dark-skinned people are some of the most beautiful people in the world, but do you think thats going to matter when you are in Heaven, Hell, or wherever! I think NOT!

How would anyone REALLY know what happens to you when you die?

I mean there is allot of old books that have "theories" but none of them can be proven to be true.
Should we really care about the "afterlife", is the time we have here not more important?

Houdini said he'd come back after he died...they're still waiting for him.... There's not one scintilla of evidence to support the notion that there's life after death. Nothing so far has withstood scientific anaylsis, blind tests, photographic evidence, or other observable phenomena that is repetitive.
I've heard of an interesting hypothesis, however, check this out:
"As of right now, most believe there is no way to destroy energy, matter yes, but energy only changes form...We all know that virtually all life and all substances known have some form of energy (positive and negatively charged usually)....anyway, I believe that the soul is a projection of what is left after the body leaves us. It in essence is the willful form underneath our skin.
Once our body dies, electrical impulses still flow through the body for a limited amount of time after which I can only assume the charges leave the body (kind've like our own gravitational field) as there is nothing functioning (such as the synapses in the brain) that causes charge/energy. At this time our soul and all knowlege we've acquired is free to do as it pleases.
Most go where they've always believed they were to go (heaven/ valhalla/ another world/ no where/ etc) as all that is left is pure impulse and knowledge. Though all knowledge may not be true, it is relevant and thus builds our own reality. So I kind've feel like everyone would be right in this instance. It is what we allow it to be. "
