Do medical assistants that work for Dermatologist sometimes receive free or discounted skin treatments or products? Ive heard some people say that they do various amounts of times (OF COURSE DEPENDING ON THE DOCTOR DUH!)..but what do you think do they? A dermatologist assistant completes basic tasks on behalf of the dermatologist. This includes getting a patient's height and weight, taking vitals and gathering patient medical history. The assistants also handle clerical duties such as retrieving medical files and answering phones. They help set up exam rooms, sterilize tools and equipment and assist the dermatologist in dermatology procedures such as microdermabrasion, skin grafts and scar repair surgeries and laser treatments. All of the work a dermatology assistant does is done under the dermatologist's supervision, as it is the dermatologist, not the assistant, who is formally licensed.
Education
Like other medical assistants, dermatology assistants usually enter the field via a one-year or two-year program at a vocational or traditional college or university. Some hospitals also offer programs. Dermatology assisting programs result in either a certificate or an associate degree. Dermatology assistants can choose to get certified through organizations such as the American Association of Medical Assistants.
Salaries
According SimplyHired, as of May 2011, dermatologist assistants have an average yearly salary of $25,000. This is comparable with the rates for all medical assistants; the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates those in the medical assisting industry make an average salary of $29,450 annually, or $14.16 per hour, based on 2009 data. The bureau indicates that medical assistants in the lowest 10th percentile make $20,750, while those in the 90th percentile make $39,970. Pay is highest in psychiatric and substance abuse hospitals, where pay averages $46,430 per year.
Personal Skills and Other Requirements
Dermatology assistants should like working directly with people. They also should have strong organizational skills. Excellency in oral and written communication is imperative to keep clients safe, maximize efficiency in the dermatologist's office and keep accurate records. Because dermatologists often work with people who are self-conscious or who have been physically scarred in some way, tact, sympathy, patience, empathy and a positive attitude also are requirements for successful dermatologist assistants. They should be comfortable working hands-on in a medical setting.

If you would choose between two health care agencies, one referred by your doctor, and one you saw on a television advertisement, which one would you choose?

Neither one because both of them have a financial interest in their answer. Do your homework and research everything. You simply cannot just trust what these people in the medical industry tell you at face value. You have to dig and learn from every source you can find. Sorry, but that's the reality of what is going on today.
Drug companies are lying to people and doctors are believing the lies from drug companies. Iatrogenic (doctor induced illnesses) are the Number ONE killer of Americans today more than any single major disease, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, etc.
In July 2004, Gary Null Ph.D, Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D, Martin Feldman M.D., Debora Rasio M.D., Dorothy Smith Ph.D. wrote a paper that revealed very disturbing facts regarding an annual iatrogenic (induced inadvertently by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures) death rate of 783,936 in one year. It is further disturbing to realize that as few as 5 percent and only up to 20 percent of iatrogenic acts are ever reported. This means that that iatrogenic death rate of 783,936 is much higher.
As we look at the causes of death from degenerative diseases and other causes in America in 2004, it is obvious we are not good at solving this problem on any level. Deaths from: Heart Disease 652,000, Cancer 553,000, and Stroke 150,000.
When comparing the iatrogenic acts of modern medicine in America with the statistical numbers of people dying of any particular disease, it is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States. And when we look at the cost of these iatrogenic deaths, the cost is in the billions.
A definitive review and close reading of medical peer-review journals, and government health statistics shows that American medicine frequently causes more harm than good. The number of people having in-hospital, adverse drug reactions (ADR) to prescribed medicine is 2.2 million. Dr. Richard Besser, of the CDC, in 1995, said the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections was 20 million. Dr. Besser, in 2003, now refers to tens of millions of unnecessary antibiotics. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million. The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million.
Once you've been exposed to the seedy underbelly of the drug businessâthe LEGAL drug businessâyou can't but realize that we're dealing with a very large group of criminals and felons. There's really no nicer way to put it.
GlaxoSmithKline who makes many drugs for Americans will pay $150 million in criminal fines and $600 million in civil penalties.
Several of the company's drugs were adulterated at one of the company's plants between 2001 and 2005, including the antidepressant Paxil, the skin-infection ointment Bactroban and the anti-nausea drug Kytril. The worst part of this story is that Glaxo new the problems existed and did not correct the problem. The people they sent to correct the problem reported it and were pushed aside.
