Classic beauty Vs. Plastic beauty?

I couldnt help but notice that pin up girls and celebrities from the 40s-60s have a classic beauty that you dont really see anymore. They didn't feel the need to be 27 pounds to be beautiful. Celebrities now days weigh 3 pounds and are made up of 90% silicone and other man made materials. So my question is this. Who do you think is more beautiful. celebrities from the 40s-60s, or celebrities now days?
Maddie - I was not implying that all skinny people are fake. I'm saying that media puts on the pressure and makes everyone think that celebrities HAVE to be skinny and plastic to be beautiful. If that wasnt true it wouldnt make the cover of major magazines when a famous person goes out in public without their make up, or even worse, puts on a little weight.

The celebrities from the 40's-60's. The celebrities and models today are all pretty much nipped and tucked- so really they are not that beautiful....the work of their plastic surgeon is. The beautiful models and celebrities from the 40's-60's, were considered beautiful because it was their NATURAL beauty that made them so rare and admired....not the beauty they bought. The perception of beauty today is so skewed, we wonder why people today have such insecurities.
P.s.You know what I think is funny. A naturally beautiful woman could go to LA or Hollywood and be totally overlooked, because everyone else there has had surgery to aesthetically perfect their look.....Well had those women not had plastic surgery, they would be the ones over looked, while the naturally beautiful woman would be percieved as gorgeous.
It has totally flipped the tables, because the people who were born with unappealing features can change their looks, become more proportioned, and thus more desired (It has been said that people choose their "mates" based on well proportioned and aesthetically pleasing features, because it can represent "good genes" and health. People want to mate with someone who has good genes, so their offspring can be more successfull) Well these people who get so much plastic surgery are pulling the cloak over everyone elses eyes, and are providing false advertisement. I think it is hilarious, because these people are going to get married, have kids, and the kids aren't going to look a think like their mother looks like (at this point), and that mother is probably going to instill her own insecurities in the child and encourage them to change their look. What do these people do with their baby pictures, or pictures taken before their plastic surgery? Do they ever show their spouses? I mean really.
Its sad really really really sad. We are all selfish, and want what we can't have. We can't be thankful and appreciate what God gave us. Society supports it, and our poor great grandchildren are going to be altered before they are even born cause people are going to take it that far. SCARY...hopefully I wont be alive to see it

Assuming this beauty isnt very smart, thats the exact kind of person i want to marry. If you are significantly smarter it far easier to make them see your point of view and reason with them. On the other hand, theres the concern that you could have stupid kids. In terms of day to day life, being attractive makes life much easier because everyone wants to help/impress you. Being smart can only get you so far.
Some questions might be:

Looks vs Personality?
Q. Recently studies have stated that men are attracted to good looking women regardless of personality. (DUH!)
Women studied are also attracted to good looking men and notice good looking women as the competition. The same can be said for men (Another DUH)
Humans inantely look for signs of good health in the opposite sex. We've been conditioned by society to be attracted to the "ideal" in Euro-American society is the Aryan stereotype. Most have variations on what they consider attractive; the common thread is symetry of facial and bodily features.
So why do men think they can "talk" a woman into being attracted to them sexually by using "game" and/or bragging about one's possessions.
Why do women insist on the idea that a man's personality is MORE important that her primal instinct to find an attractive male. Furthermore why don't F admit a man's personality is goal seeking and subjective when it comes to pursing women.
Why would you want to give personality beauty? Perhaps to change or control the other person? My whole point was men don't care about "beauty's personality".

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. The folly of personality trumping beauty is a concoction of polite society or a pipe dream created thereof. People no not wish to seem shallow. And to base who a person is or if you would want to have any involvement of them purely off looks is suppose to be shallow; not judging the book by the cover. Yet since we were old enough to know anything that is what we what we were taught to do. Get the shiniest bike, the newest toy, and the softest chair. If we were on a business trip and vehicles were provided, everyone would get the newest, brightest one even if it were said not to have as good of a ride or be as mechanically sound as an older less attractive vehicle available.
But studies show that money and or power can trump even looks. If a mud duck man made more money, tens of thousands more than the hunk, he can even the playing field or even win the game.
Guys use all that drag on a girl to get her interested because though gals, like everyone else, goes 1st for looks. If you can engage them most yarn to hear those 4 magic words, âI love youâ. It has been the password to the sugar cave of many women through out the ages. The less attractive the man, the less chance of it working unless he has cash out the wahzoo.
No matter what, everyone is pre-judged by looks. We avoid sitting by people who look a certain way on the commute train or the subway. If they look like street people others would cross the street before having to pass them or chose another entrance into the building to avoid passing them.
Guys are less preoccupied with personality than females, I believe. Most guys I knew could care less if she was college grad, had an executive position, or if she worked as a fry cook. When she is naked on her back none of that mattered. And that was the main goal most of the time. And since you did not plan to see her more then 5 times maybe, who she really is was not important as tapping that honey cave right now.

Should I get a Sony Xperia Z or a Samsung Galaxy S4?

Hey everyone, I'm going through this huge dilemma. I'm about to get a new android phone and I'm having a hard time choosing between the S4 and the Xperia Z.
I like the Sony because it's looks, it's just gorgeous and waterproof but I read on several reviews that the display angles are quite bad and the blacks aren't really black. Battery life seems to be a huge issue too.
On the other hand Samsung has a way better battery life and display. I've seen a bunch of reviews that say that the S4 has a great battery. But it's just hideous compared to Sony's or Apple's design language.
Should I get the beauty or the beast?

I would get the Samsung Galaxy S4 because1. It is quicker- 1.9ghz quad core/ 1.6ghz Octa core vs 1.5ghz quad core
2. Removable battery- This means you can replace the battery if you run out of charge when you are around unlike the Xperia Z which you have to charge or bring an external charger and charge it from there, however this is an awkward way of charging your phone.
3. Screen- They have the ppi(441ppi) and are both 5 inches. However the Xperia Zâs viewing angles are terrible according to most of itâs reviewers, this is not a problem for the S4. Also the S4 Amoled screen creates beautiful colors.
4. Real Multitasking- watch videos while online, write an email while watching a video, send a message while surfing the web, you can split the screen in two so you can multitask without a bother, this cannot be done on the Xperia Z.
5. Samsung added features
a. Smartstay- won't turn the screen off if you are still looking at it.
b. Smartpause- pauses a video when you turn around and turns it back on when you turn back
c. Eye controlled webpage scrolling

e. Infrared TV remote

If they are buying a new car and think that a hybrid costs more than a conventional, I talk about ways mine has saved me money, changing the oil every 7500 miles vs 3000, in CA no smog check required, some banks give lower rates for fuel efficient cars, saving money on gas, fewer maintenance costs, cheaper tires, the fact that I still love my car after 6 years and it has maintained much of it's resale value. There are a million things you can share with someone, but if you aren't a livining example of how to go green and maintain a quality lifestyle you should focus on yourself first. Get to know your audiance, and don't force feed them or tell them they are bad or wrong. I also never talk about climate change, I believe pollution and limited resources are a much greater threat.

Can you use average body soap instead of shampoo?

So I accidentally bought hydrating conditioner instead of shampoo, and I've been told that conditioner is not an adequate substitute. So what if I just use normal body soap, and then put in conditioner after?
I have a small afro if it matters what type of hair.

Yes you can use body soap instead of shampoo, in fact many people do. But here is some information first so you have a nice outcome.
Soap vs detergents. I am not the vocabulary police here, but we really throw the word soap around. Chemically there is a difference what it is, and how it works. It does NOT matter if it is in a bottle or a bar, or what it was made to do, or the name of the product or what we casually call it. Soaps are natural chemical reaction between a fat and an alkali where detergents are synthetic alternatives to soap. The most significant difference is how they affect the pH of your hair. Shampoo is most always a detergent and so are most household cleaning products. True soap is still out there, but more and more body "soaps" are actually detergents too.
So, first determine what your product really is.
If you are dealing with a detergent, it will be labelled as a non-soap cleanser, a cosmetic bar, beauty bar, deodorant bar. Etc. Zest is a detergent, so is Dove just for two examples, as well as most liquid body washes and shower gels...and even (!!!) a mild dishwashing liquid. If you are talking about using this on your hair, it is remarkably similar to your shampoo. Lather up, rinse, repeat and follow with conditioner just like you always do.
Ivory, Dial, and Safeguard are some examples of true soap. Well made true soaps can be used for all kind of things and they are an eco-friendly and less toxic way to clean up. You can cleanse your hair with these but they will not work in the same way chemically as a detergent. You won't get as much suds. Your hair will feel sticky but it is in fact clean. You should not use conditioner on soaped hair at all, it just is gross. Use a diluted vinegar rinse instead, which will balance the pH from the soap. It won't have that slick shiny feeling like conditioner but it is truly what your hair needs after soap. You won't enjoy the feeling until after it's dry, then it is super soft and wonderful!
As for your hair type, I have heard that lots of people of African descent, who wear their hair natural, do use soap instead of shampoo. I myself am white so I can't speak about it from my own experience. If you have processed hair you might want to skip it and wait until you have more information from your stylist. Also if you are going to use true soap on your hair, I would think you should choose better than ordinary drugstore or dollar store soap. Choose a "gourmet" one like Dr. Bronners or Dr. Woods that you get at the health food store. A nice olive oil soap.
Also...length of hair...well, that goes both ways. If you have short hair, it gets cut off lots sooner so if you damage your hair, not just how you wash it...it doesn't stay on your head that long. On the other hand, if you damage short hair, and have to cut it off...well you might not have much hair left.

Nature vs. Nurture debate on the idea of physical attractiveness?
Are certain people regarded as physically beautiful because society, the media, along with culture has brainwashed us to believe they are or is there enough scientific evidence to state possibility there some physical features we as humans universally find desirable such has highly symmetrical features that according to scientists serve as indicators of good health?
before anyone states personality or things like personal opinion. I am taking about people who are widely considered physically attractive? Personality and physical attractiveness are two different things. I do agree personality is more important. When initially meet someone you obviously can't tell someone's personality.

I don't think that natural selection (specifically nonrandom reproduction) even remotely applies to humans anymore.
First of all, the population is much too big for evolution to occur.
Second, as you said, the media. The ideas of beauty change every few decades.
Third, most beauty ideals nowadays are not determined by genetics but by makeup, lifestyle, and even surgery sometimes. If they don't think they're attractive, most people change their appearence.
Fourth, there are so many ideas now that everyone is beautiful in their own way. Not that I am criticizing this, but it doesn't allow natural selection to occur.
However, I have heard that, in general, animals choose a mate based on personality (kindness, etc), physical attractiveness, and intelligence.
I'm not sure how much of this applies to humans though...
I do know that when humans were first evolving, the ones who could stand up straighter had a higher chance of reproducing. I don't think anything like this could happen in modern society, however.
