Catholics-is it greedy to have too many books?

Labels:

kay k

I have about 30 books.Im not the brightest so i actually need alot more then that.
I worry/fear though that me having these books that i am now being greedy. Is it greedy to have 30 books?I mean i would give them away if i didnt need them and i read them all.
I would even like to buy more books but im afraid that that that would be greed or something.I would like to buy books on craft, beauty, health, exercise, psychology, art, relaxation, science, medicine, john paull II books and more...
Thankyou
No,im not a troll and no it doesnt imply that Catholics are dumb.

Answer
No of course not..

As long as you actually use those books to read and not as a show piece on a shelf..

I had so so many books, I did get rid of most of them though, I had mostly only novels, as I am actually a bookworm.. Now of late I keep only fashion magazines as it is related to my field of work..
However I can say I am greedy to own 'Book Sposa Moda' an Italian Bridal fashion magazine which is like 41$ per magazine in my country, but also it is very very helpful for me..

Also I do not think it is very greedy to have too many shoes, as I have load and loads.. I get them from my dad and my aunts (all who work abroad) and I can count more than 60-70 pairs of shoes including 15 converse and the rest mostly heels and wedges..
I also give away most of my shoes/used and sometimes even unused to the church and same goes with my clothes..
BTW my sister and me share shoes most of the times as we are the same size, so its own joint collection and not mine alone.

I also have loads and loads of clothes and when I studied abroad in Milan, I gave away about 3 suitcases full of clothes, blankets, shoes and other stuff..

I'm not vain a greedy, I just have a few interests that may differ from others, and I give as I get more..

HELP!?what are good beauty remedy books?!?

nene can d

i want a good all around remedy book but one that also has some beauty techniques in it for example: mixing lemon and sugar is a good face scrub for evening skin tone. maybe one that has recipes or trick getting stains out of clothes and carpet. it does not have to be all in one book but i want it to be a good book and the recipes and tricks really work. the one i have now sucks big time

Answer
There is the Green Pharmacy Guide which might cover some of that.
Just found this also: Jude's Herbal Home Remedies - Natural Health, Beauty & Home-Care Secrets
http://www.bookreview.com/$spindb.query.listreview2.booknew.2793

I suggest borrowing them from your library first in case they are not what you are looking for. You should be able to do that through an inter-library scheme if it is not in your own library. Your local library might have other books also which might have some of what you are looking for.

Good luck in your search.
Peace.

Book(s) on beauty/health?

What's your opinion on some of these self remedy books and can or would you recommend a good book to me? Thanks!

Answer
Don't bother purchasing books. There is so much information for free online. www.naturalnews.com and www.mercola.com are excellent, trustworthy sources. Byron Richards has a good site too, but I don't know what the URL is. If you type his name into a browser it will come up. It's Health and Wellness Resources, I think.

Lavender Tincture for Stress Reduction

Here is a sweet little tincture to use for stress reduction and to aid sleeping. Harvest time is almost here and lavender plants are just finishing their bloom. If you do not have a plant, visit your local nursery or a friend that is a grower.

You will need

» 5 medium stalks of fresh lavender
» ¾ cup of 90 proof vodka or other clear low-odor 90 proof drinking alcohol

Chop the lavender into ¼ inch strips and gently "bruise" the plant by "hammering" gently wit your fist on a wood cutting board (a mortar and pestle for you pro's). Put the alcohol in an amber or dark glass bottle, then stuff in the cut and bruised lavender. Place the cap on the bottle and shake vigorously for 2 minutes. Set in a cool, dark place for 6 weeks (shake for a minute or so 1 time a week). Strain the tincture from the plant pieces remaining, and then store in a cool dark place. Shelf life is approx. 1 year.

To use: Drop a few drops on your temples or dab on a hankie and place under your pillowcase between your pillow and your pillowcase for sweet dreams.

How to throw a cute beauty party?

Jackie Gig

So im 14 and for my 15th birthday party, I want to have a beauty night with me and a ton of my friends! you know manis peddis facials ect. if you have any idea on hoe to make this night spectacular let me know. Anything you enjoy adding into a manni or peddi? Any facial recipies you really love? or if you threw a party like this let me know what you did! Thanks!

Answer
I've always wanted to try one of those!! =D So my ideas for a good beauty night would be to set up a nice comfortable mood for all your guests. Maybe some relaxing music. Little snacks like cheese cubes or fruit kabobs would be nice . Anything easy to pick up with wet nails. Fruity punch kind of drinks with little umbrellas. As for the mani pedi you could put in a few drops of essential oils like lavender, peppermint, jasmine. Anything that gives off a nice scent. You can purchase these essential oils at places like Health Food stores and such. If you're having trouble finding the oils some fruity bubble bath would make a good subsitute. .For a good mask just mix together a teaspoon of honey, 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt, and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply this to clean skin and put some cucumber slices over the eyes. Relax for 5 min and then rinse. Haha that's about all sorry a wrote like a book for ya but I really do hope I helped =)) Hope it goes great!!

I want to get rid of my possessions?

HumanPerfe

I want to get rid of it all.
I dont even need all this stuff. But Im scared to take the plunge.
Because onces something is gone, its gone for good.
And by stuff I mean -
Makeup, jewellrey, magazines, books.
Mostly books, health and beauty stuff, magazines.

I've been feeling this way lately. It would be nice to just have the minimum. A bed, wardrobe, laptop.
No books, magazines, jewellery, thousands of bottles of lotions and nail polishes, bags, or whatever.

But im scared of doing it.

Can I have your panties and bras to sniff? Send me a receipt and I'll reimburse you for postage. BTW be sure to wear them and don't wash them again before mailing.
